About The Owner

This is a family business. The building was showcased in New Orleans magazine. Built in 1846, it was never cut up into smaller apartments. We take great pride in the fact that it is the gateway to Frenchmen Street. The smallest apartment is 1800 sq. ft. and the largest is 4300 sq. ft. In total, there are 6 apartments. We ask that you respect our property and please respect the full time tenants. Also, no large parties allowed.

The Owner purchased this apartment in 1999

Why The Owner chose Marigny-Bywater

I didn't choose, it was a family choice. Basically I love the place. Frenchmen Street is so unique. The coolest thing is I have 2 kids but I feel so secure. We take them to Spotted Cat! Other people may not like the vibe, but it is central to all things JAZZ. Believe it or not, even though it is loud in the evenings, I think it's a great spot for families as the kids can sleep and you can enjoy sitting on the balcony sipping a cocktail. It's a great location and central to everything. The cable car to uptown is a block away, The Mint is across the street, The French Market is a block away.

What makes this apartment unique

Believe it or not, New Orleans is family friendly! We found the aquarium, the Audobon Zoo and Children's Museum. The best part is being right in the action!Frenchmen Street is the place to be,If you want to listen to jazz. Spotted Cat is a block away, Maison is next door, Check Point Charlies is next door. Frenchmen street is not known for being a quiet area, so if you are looking for peace and quiet, you may find uptown more suitable.

Everything you need, clean, friendly neighborhood, right above the the Vaso bar and grill, so it's the place to be anyways. Parking secured 100ft away. Be back there again for sure.

Best NO rental to date!!

  • 5 of 5

We 6 were there for our 4th Nola Halloween week in a row and nobody was disappointed. Beautiful character home with all amenities. Wish we'd come across this rental sooner! Frenchmen is the place to be for live music so if you expect quiet on an event week, I'd suggest elsewhere. BUT if you are down for the true NO experience, definitely book this spot!! I'm sure it's quieter during regular times. The music is amazing in this area and it does get loud as you can hear it from under/and next door and all around, but they do shut it down at some point. The balcony was our favorite part hands down. Sooo much better to watch from above than to be on the crowded streets in the quarter.

Perfect location, great atmosphere, easy to explor

  • 5 of 5

My family and I chose the Frenchmen area to be close enough to the French Quarter to enjoy all that it has to offer and enjoy more of the local flavor and music that isn't entirely touristy. The Frenchmen is where it's at. This apartment has the best corner balcony overlooking the street which is plenty large enough for groups either relaxing at the table and chairs or enjoying the party down below with your own up above. The apartment is large enough to comfortably host and enjoy a family if you choose to spend time in the apartment or if the weather turns nasty. You are right above a little mini mart for provisions and down the street from some of the best bars with the best music (much better than the Quarter) and with great food. The Frenchmen is a loud street at night, but once we were home late at night the music just rocks you to sleep and with windows and doors closed the noise drowns away. The location is also perfect for catching an uber or cab on the corner of Esplanade and makes it easy to get pretty much anywhere in the city. Location is also great if you want to walk the riverfront or catch the trolley down towards the French Market, Aquarium, or Casino. Host is easily reachable if an odd question comes up. Wifi works, security doors and gates make you feel safe and the air conditioning can save you on a hot day. We cannot thank the host enough and recommend anyone looking to stay here on Frenchmen.

Very nice and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

Very nice place, clean, comfortable beds. Just a couple of blocks walk to the trolley which can take almost anywhere you want to go in NOLA. The bands do play until 2AM but the noise is not that bad (bring ear plugs). The food around NOLA is incredible, very tasty and you have several options all within walking distance. We never used the kitchen but to make coffee (although I wanted to use that stove, ha).

Beautiful condo and in great location but minor issues experienced

  • 4 of 5

Well first of all when I booked the condo I was sent the access code and all the appropriate info needed for our stay. When we arrived we tried the code provided and it didn't work. We had to call the owner who fortunately answered right away and advised she changes the code regularly for security reasons. I appreciate that added protection however it would have been helpful if she gave that to us prior to our arrival. When we got inside the condo, it was very beautiful and in an excellent location. However there was a bad termite problem and they were EVERYWHERE. The owner had the condo sprayed the day we arrived but they were so bad we had troubles taking showers and getting ready due to the amount in the bathrooms. When I called the owner she just said "they're swarming right now so there's nothing I can do." No offer of any kind to make it right. I wish I could upload the pictures we took to show the amount of termites we dealt with. Overall, despite the termite problem we would stay here again AFTER the termites are taken care of. The owner seemed readily available which was great just wish she was a little more sympathetic.

Owner's Response: Unfortunately, this tenant was in town when the termites were swarming outside. I advised her to close the balcony doors and turn off lights, as they are attracted to the light and come inside. It's a very simple fix and does happen once a year. I am very diligent at spraying when this happens, but there is nothing you can do if the termites are coming in from the outdoors. As for the code, I do change them every few months and update the information online, it seems that she did find the update. I am always available by phone and take care of all issues promptly. I want a good experience also when renting a property!

Great music, great balcony!

  • 5 of 5

If you're looking for peace and quiet, might want to stay somewhere else. If you're looking for a full French Quarter experience, this condo is fantastic. The music does get loud and does go pretty late, but we didn't have a problem sleeping (I'm sure the hurricanes from Pat O'Brien's had nothing to do with that, haha). The balcony was enormous and was great for relaxing and people-watching (a cat across the street in the music store does the same). Samantha was very responsive to my few questions about which entrance to use and the wifi password. We had a great experience and would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Notes:
Quiet courtyard in back that is shared by all the tenants, but it seems like no one ever uses it! This is a wonderful, traditional place to stay while in New Orleans. Feel like a local on the most coveted street to stay.
