I have been living in Western North Carolina for over 25 years . As a world traveler, I have still found this area to be the finest place to live. We chose Asheville to raise our family of four daughters as it is a progressive thinking , environmentally conscious community. As someone who loves the mountains I have created beautiful vacation retreats in Cherokee and developed several projects in the area to provide people the opportunity to have their own mountain retreat. My latest project is Big Laurel Mountain, a wonderful waterfront mountain community in Madison County. Gardening is my favorite pastime and I have created extraordinary gardens anywhere I have been , Creating and promoting a sustainable, organic, and peaceful lifestyle for myself and my family is my goal in life. I am also a Breathwork Coach and student and teacher of transformation and healing. You can schedule Breathwork healing sessions with me while here. My wife, Allison, is multi-talented in design, web design, an author, counselor, and is currently both an excellent real estate broker as well as working full time with Family Preservation Services.

Why Owner chose Kenilworth
Lakeside Garden Cottage is part of our unique family compound that we have lived in for almost 20 years. When it came time to move onto town from our mountain home in order to raise a family we were extraordinarily blessed to find a rare location in Asheville on one of the two private lakes within city limits. Living here can best be described a living full time in a vacation home that is also our primary residence. Being beside water is something I am constantly grateful for here. There is abundant wildlife on the lake .This place has the feel of a private natural oasis and with its large grounds and lakeside setting gave me the perfect 'canvas' to create my ever expanding gardens. As raising a family and having access to good schools as well as all the amazing things that downtown has to offer were equally as important to us , we were able to find something extremely rare here as we can hop in the car and be anywhere we need to be within minutes of leaving our little oasis. Most people who visit us and discover our hidden retreat are blown away that such a place exists so close to town.
What makes this Cottage unique
Wake up to the sound of the waterfall flowing over the dam close to the cottage... enjoy your morning coffee on the porch or down at the dock while watching a Great Blue Heron pass by. Hop into downtown in 5 minutes and enjoy breakfast at Early Girl or Over Easy and peruse the great art galleries and shops afterwards. Come back for the afternoon and take the rowboat out on the lake or just relax with a book in the hammock. Go fishing if you like.If it is in season pick a few vegies from the organic garden and grill out on the porch, hop back into town for some music , theater, or a movie within minutes or stay and watch the sunset over the lack from the dock followed by a nice campfire in the evening. This is all where you are or within 5 minutes but of course when you are ready to venture out you have easy access to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Biltmore House, the Arboretum. white water rafting, a soak in the tubs at Hot Springs, Navitat Canopy tours. maybe you just want to catch a movie at one of two theaters 5 and 10 minutes away.

Charming Cottage in Asheville
We had a wonderful time at this peaceful cottage in the trees above Asheville We were there a month, so, had plenty of time to enjoy much what the city has to offer, plus some side trips to nearby smaller towns like Hendersonville, Brevard and Maggie Valley. Very true what others have said about it being so conveniently located to attractions and restaurants but really feeling like you are privately located in a picturesque setting when you are at the cottage. Tama and Alison were very nice and welcoming and responsive whenever we had a question Also noticed that neighbors along the street (on our walks) were very friendly to us. Cottage was great with good internet, TV channel selection, well stocked kitchen for utensils, pans, dishes and glasses. A very quiet stay and we would recommend this location to others and would return again. Thank you so much!

Great little retro 50's cottage tuck back beside a wooded area that has a walking trail beside a flowing creek. Can view the lake from sitting on porch. Very convient to downtown Asheville, like 5 minutes. Very peaceful setting. Owner provided rowboat, canoe & fishing rods to use.Owners were very warm and welcoming. We will definately
We stayed at the 'lake house' for 5 days with our 3 year old son. We have such great memories from our stay...swimming in the lake, exploring the creek, swinging on the rope swing, reading in the hammock, fishing, checking out the geese and other animals (pet rabbit & chickens!) & eating amazing veggies from the garden all made our stay seriously perfect (never mind the fact that downtown Asheville is sooo close & a grocery store is even closer)! We spent two full days in and around lake house just spending time together exploring the area. They even have a waterfall!
location at its best!
What a wonderful family vacation we had at this little oasis. The lake was beautiful. The property was secluded. We were only 5 minutes to downtown Asheville. Tama and Allison were very hospitable. So many fun things to see and do. One week was not enough. We will be sure to return. My two boys (ages 10 & 12) enjoyed the lake. We all swam, floated on tubes, canoes, and swung/jumped in lake using the rope swing. My dog enjoyed roaming the property while making friends with the ducks and cat. Thank you again.
Okay, so for the sake of writing a reviews instead of a novel, let me just say that this gorgeous lakeside cottage was wonderful. There are lush, green gardens, a mossy trail leading back to a waterfall and river. Picturesque hiking! Going out on the lake in the rowboat and canoe was so much fun! The interior was comfortable and it had everything we needed to make food, drink wine & relax. I would reccomend this to anyone and I'm really hoping to get back next years. Tama has a wonderful energy about him & they were happy to help.
Lakeside is conveniently located within 5 minutes of downtown Asheville. the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the Biltmore Estate. It is the best of both worlds as you can choose to spend time in the idyllic lakefront gardens and surrounding woods or hop in your car to join the eclectic and wonderful variety of art galleries, shops, tremendous variety of extraordinary restaurants. Don't forget the Friday night drum circle downtown! The Blue Ridge Parkway gives you access to incredible hiking and riding. The North Carolina Arboretum is first class. Whitewater rafting within 30 minutes.
