Seriously the Best Family Vacation Ever

  • 5 of 5

As a grandmother of seven grandchildren - 6 of them 4 years old and under, I was very apprehensive about going anywhere near any water for a vacation this year. Historically we would have gone to an ocean beach. I let my daughters know how nervous I was about all those little people being around the ocean and one of them suggested a lake house. I have never been to a lake house before. What an enjoyable, relaxing vacation! The little people could play in the water while the adults relaxed on their chairs and very little hands-on was required. The grassy area from the house to the lakefront was so much nicer than all the sand! We played all kinds of games there. There were small fish and a turtle came by one day for entertainment. I caught four fish IN A CHILD'S NET! We played duck-duck goose, croquet, play-doh, magnatiles, scrabble and made homemade ice cream. We rented a pontoon boat one day. We used the kayaks daily and the paddleboat. In addition, the Lake Gaston bird farm with about 100 species of birds and other farm animals is within walking distance. The kids loved it. Farmer Dick was really good with the little ones. The Ward's home was equipped with everything we needed to cook. The setup was great and handled my two daughters' families and I quite nicely. Underneath my bedroom suite is an outdoor "den" with a TV that we never even turned on. We spent most of our time there. The place was incredible. There seriously was nothing that we said, "I wish I would have brought, xxx." Eloise and Rick answered all our questions prior to arrival - they have sliced off a little piece of heaven. We will be back! I have already referred this place and provided contact information for some folks who are excited to check it out!

This Place Rocks!

  • 5 of 5

This house had everything needed for two families with children from ages 7-15. Nine of us total. The tree covered deck in the middle of the lawn facing the lake was perfect for hanging out in the quiet mornings and evenings watching other boaters water sporting.. The breezeway made for nightly card playing and the beach area was used every day. The boathouse easily accommodated my 26’ Crownline. Doing it again next summer!

Johnson Family

We just completed our second summer visit to your beautiful home. It was wonderful. For anyone with small children this is heaven sent. You are able to bask in the sun and be close to your children while they play in the beach type sand on the shore. It is spacious for a large and combined families. We love the extra decking under the trees, for someone on medications which make you sensitive to the sun this is great. Your kitchen is well stocked for any type of meal you would like to cook. Just the best overall set up you can get and we have been in 3 other places on the lake and this is the best for a big family. Thanks again for such great memories.

AWSOME ++++++++

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at this home for two weeks. Both homes were not only lovely but were comfrontable sleeping and eating and relaxing. Anything you needed they had. Within the family were five girls from the age of 2 - 9. They had such a GREAT time at the beach. They could go into the water and out to the pier without life jackets and jumping from the pier and playing in the sandy beach. Could hardly keep them inside except to sleep even eating outside. All the parents had to do was to sit and relax on the very NICE deck at the edge of beach where there was always a breeze. The Wards were extremely helpful and good to work with. This is the perfect place for two families to be able to have a seperation outlet. I would also recomend this to anyone that has difficulty with walking like myself, this was very easy to enter the home and around the yard and beach. Go and ENJOY !!!!!

Great House Great Lake Accesss Looking forward to returning next year

  • 5 of 5

We have been coming to Lake Gaston for 20 years and stayed in many nice houses . This house rates as one of the best. It was the 1st time we dealt directly with the owners and not a realtor and we were elated with the experience. Rapid responses while making reservations and fast return of the deposit after departure. The house is large, clean and well equipped from kitchen supplies to toys and electronic entertainment for rainy days. Lay out of house allows for many to find their own space to relax or play. The use of the boat house with easy in/out in 5ft deep water was very nice and enabled us to give some boat driving/docking lessons to our granddaughters. Being in a large cove gave the feeling of being on the main lake without the really rough water that can happen on busy boating days. The grocery store is relatively close and after stocking up to cook in the large kitchen ( a second one in the half house) or use the large new grill/smoker we found no need to look for restaurants. The second refrigerator in the half house came in handy. The only thing I would like to have added to the house is internet access to allow those of us who can work remotely stay longer or enjoy a working vacation.
