Great for Family Vacations!
Being from the Thousand Islands region but currently residing in GA I wanted to take a vacation with my family and capture everything the Thousand Islands means to me as this was their first time being there as they are from GA. This rental does that as it's nestled nice in TI Park close to the pier and the newly renovated Guzzle which captures the TI region to a T. If you've never been to TI Park it's a quaint late 1800's early 1900's village and this particular rental is perfect for all your family needs. First and foremost, it accommodated my family with plenty of room to spare and we never felt on top of each other with all the lounging space. It had a great front porch and back yard area for grilling and it allowed for my daughter to play freely. The house is old and it shows but that's to be expected here. Regardless of showing it's age, everything you may need (showers, fans, stove, heater, bikes, golf clubs, board games, Roku TV, etc.) work and are readily available. Interaction with the owner was easy and she was very accommodating, I would definitely recommend this as one of your vacation options in the TI region.
A warm and welcoming place
This cottage has it all ... and something for everyone. It's spacious, well-kept, and very comfortable. Every time we thought, "It would be nice to have ... " that item seemed to appear.
Having access to the bikes and kayaks was wonderful, and it was great to have the grill out back.
The owners have gone out of their way to make each of the bedrooms cozy -- and the terrycloth robes are a luxurious touch.
We stayed at Fishtales Cottage from Sept. 7-14 2013. The cottage is rustic- sloped plank floors, kitchen floor had a couple torn patches, windows do open, but some screens were dirty with cobwebs, and handle on dishwasher was broken. It has one updated full bathroom upstairs with walk-in shower and a very old "full" bathroom downstairs. The bathroom downstairs had a functional/updated toilet and sink, but the shower/tub was not operational during our stay. Because of it's age, I am not sure how reliable the shower/tub is on a regular basis. It appears to need some work. There were some nice touches by the owner such as lots of towels, wi-fi, cable TV, plenty of tableware, available sidewalk chalk for the kids, bikes to use while there, and children's books in the two themed bedrooms. The town did not have either the Guzzle or Wellsley island hotel open after Labor Day (hence there were not cookies waiting for us upon arrival as the listing implied). The library and small store were open with limited hours. We did enjoy our family time together and the owner offered an extra nights stay at no charge because nobody was coming in after us, however we did not wish to stay the extra night. At the completion of our stay the deposit was returned in a timely manner.
LOVED FISHTALES COTTAGE!!! BEST FAMILY VACATION EVER!!!!!
Summer of 2013 our family stayed at Fishtales Cottage at TI Park for the most memorable and enjoyable family vacation ever. From the moment we first walked in the door we felt we were home. We found Fishtales Cottage to be very welcoming and very well equipped (especially the kitchen) with everything we could ever need for our week's stay. Upon arrival, everything was in place for us to settle in quickly and easily to begin our week of family fun and relaxation in TI Park. We found the house and grounds to be very clean, well equipped and prepared. Our children who are older teenagers, loved having the bicycles, which were in great working order, available to ride around and explore the park. One of the favorite features for our family of the cottage were the front and back screened in porches. We even decided which one was our favorite for the morning and evening. We also loved having the picnic table and grill available in the backyard for some wonderful outdoor cookouts! Our entire family has never stopped talking about our stay at Fishtales Cottage at TI Park, the memories and quality family time we spent there will last forever. I would definitely recommend Fishtales Cottage at TI Park to all of my family and friends!!!
my nephews welcome home celebration from afghanistan and our 3 yr old sons birthday:)
first off, i'd just like to say....that this was one of the best rental properties that we have ever stayed at...and we have stayed at many. the renter is very helpful in every way to make sure that your stay is most enjoyable and the cottage is so inviting. we were there for our only vacation that we took this year to welcome home my nephew from afghanistan and celebrate our sons 3rd birthday with alot of family...., and this was a great location for us to be able to do all that we wanted to, while in the area. we had never been to the area, and the renter was kind enough to help us with information and setting up some wonderful events for us during our stay....and when we ran into an issue on our way there, was kind enough to help us out with the situation and for that we are so, so grateful...above and beyond(thank you so much). as for the cottage itself,....magnificent! beds were most comfortable, everything that you need has been thought of and included for you there, it just gave us the "home" feeling we needed, to make this time extra special. my nephew is stationed not too far from there, but had not been there long before being sent over to afghanistan, so he was excited to experience what the area had to offer with family along side of him. even though the weather wasn't as warm as we would have liked during our stay, you could still "feel" the warmth of the cottage, the island, and the renters hospitality. we have created a great memory that will last a lifetime! and after we got home from our trip, my 3 yr old son stated "mommy, are we going to go back to our new house today", to which i replied, "not today, but maybe someday"....i knew i had felt like it was our home away from home, and even my 3 yr old had that feeling... he still mentions it, even as it is a couple of months since our stay in sept/oct 2011. if you want a great place to stay, this is a wonderful getaway cottage to create memories with friends or family. i chose this location because of the distance to where my nephew was stationed and keeping in mind that we wanted a vacation feel as well, on an island, with lots of rooms, a "private feel" to celebrate like we were in our own home for our sons birthday, and all was fulfilled! and i bet it is even better when the weather is warm...would have liked to have taken a bike ride, but we did enjoy a golf cart ride with blankets around the island, which was still a great memory maker:) THANK YOU! cannot be said enough:)
