Welcome to the newly renovated Osprey Nest Penthouse Loft!

Our extensive remodel is done. Walls have been removed creating a loft experience with river views from anywhere in the condo. The old 9 ft ceiling has vaporized, exposing a concrete beam ceiling. Plaster on the walls has been removed, revealing what we have fantasized since the inception of the remodel, warm 15 foot high brick walls.

The view from The Osprey’s Nest makes real Norman Maclean’s famous words from A River Runs Through It: “Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it… I am haunted by waters.” The Nest is at once a perch and a veritable confluence. Swivel in a comfortable leather chairs and enjoy expansive views of the Clark Fork and Bitteroot Valleys, Lolo and Squaw peaks and, most compelling, the Clark Fork River itself as it flows across your view. In summer carrying kayakers or surfers on Brennan’s Wave or even the less adventuresome inner tube caravan. In winter carrying ice floes of infinite size and shape. Endless beauty and power on its way to the Pacific Ocean.

The setting in nature is stunning. The setting within our town is as remarkable: Caras Park at the foot of your windows hosts the Farmer’s Market, festivals, concerts and shows; nearby restaurants are plentiful, varied and in walking distance; you can even hike open space without getting into your car.

Inside the condo your quality experience continues: Once you settle in with your complimentary Pelegrino mineral water, you will have the opportunity to peer “down” on bald eagles, blue herons & ospreys hunting the river, on fly fishermen stalking the banks of the river, and on kayakers and surfers gracefully dancing Brennan’s Wave, even during the winter.

Amenities include a full sized KITCHEN, allowing you to cook with a panoramic river view. The highlights here are a full range/oven, absolute black granite counter tops, blond curly maple cabinetry with narrow reed glazing, and European appliances which include dishwasher and microwave.

The BATHROOM features floor to ceiling contemporary Sonoran wall tiles, heated tile floor, a spacious shower with dual rain heads which can accommodate 2 guests. Two transom windows of narrow reed architectural glass allow an ethereal ambient light effect which is complimented by “melting ice cube” overhead lighting .

The DINING area has a custom built-in dining table of figural birch with curly maple trim. Seating allows for viewing the river while enjoying your meal. A built in USB charging port and WIFI allows this area to double as an office work space.

The BEDROOM area feels secluded even in this open loft plan because the sleeping area is partially separated from the rest of the space by an architectural wall. This sweeping arc divider allows for privacy but maintains the important flow of light, by incorporating more of the narrow reed architectural glass used elsewhere in the condo. Composition materials also include granite, recycled roof caps, and Luthier (musical instrument) grade curly maple veneers. The queen-sized bed provides storage, in addition to the armoire, with built in under-bed compartments. An overhead fan with retractable blades provides a gentle breeze to the sleeping area. TV pivots toward the bed for viewing. And, of course there are views of the Bitteroot Valley.

INDULGENCES: Sony 42 inch TV with cable TV on a swivel base, Vizio sound bar, Samsung stereo with surround speakers, satellite Sirius/XM radio, Sony Bluetooth speaker for personal playlists, secure WIFI with 60 megabit connectivity. All lighting is on dimmable switches offering infinite ambiance possibilities . Comfortable leather seating. Air conditioning.

We are lovers of art and of fine old building materials and have incorporated these values into both construction and decorating. The ARCHITECTURAL RECYCLEABLES include: large cream glazed roof caps recovered from a turn-of-the-century building in Spokane were used in the construction of the armoire and at the end of the arching divider; old terra cotta roof tiles, toned by time, became baseboard for the brick walls; granite baseboard were recovered from the historic Butte, MT courthouse; the steam radiator once warmed the MISSOULA MERCANTILE across the street from the Wilma.

The “Saturn” light fixture, a custom fixture by Washington artist ________, casts a blue hue in the kitchen area. One of Chatham’s largest lithographs from the Missouri Series brings an iconic Montana image to the far wall. A small photo by ____Cohen captures Jack Kerouac listening to himself on the radio. As with all good ART, we see this part of the process as an evolution. We’ve built in four areas to display contemporary sculpture installations with dedicated lighting. We’re playing with initial concepts and are excited to see what forms and textures will emerge.
