I am a retired dental hygienist and chef (French trained),. Some of my favorite things are traveling ,cooking, bike riding, hiking, reading, listening to music, movies and spending time with my husband, 2 grown children, and my dogs.
Sue Ann Clemons purchased this cabin in 2005
I have lived in this area for 30 yrs. and this property is 6 miles from my home. The area is bucolic and serene. We are nestled in the Blue Ridge mountains. It is a very beautiful area.
There is a wonderful babbling creek on the property that you can sit on one of the front porch rockers and clearly listen to. It is so peaceful and relaxing. It is a great location for painting or a retreat for writing. It is truly getting back to nature, you can birdwatch ,we have deer and a bunch of wonderful wild turkeys. It is a wonderful feeling of really 'getting away from it all'.
My wife and I visited the cabin for our anniversary weekend and had a wonderful time. I really thought a weekend there would be too long but I was wrong. We had a wonderful time, wandering the trail, jogging along the nearby country lanes and enjoying the solitude and beauty of the property.
The cabin is beautifully constructed and owner Sue Clemons' taste in decor is brilliant.
We loved hanging out on the front porch, listening to music and sampling the wines and foods Sue provided.
We loved the comfort of the furnishings and felt safe and secure on the property. There is a lot to do locally but once we arrived, we did not want to leave. We just slowed down and let the spirit of the place have its way with us.
We loved it!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful cabin. The attention you put into the warm comforting details along with the welcoming treats were beyond expectations. We all felt as if we were staying with family not just renting a vacation house. My husband wants me to be certain to tell you that he loved the crumb cake and is still talking about it! Your wine selection was perfect as were the cheese ball and scones. There was not one amenity that you forgot and we will continue to marvel and talk about your place until we get together again.
We hope to return some time and continue to explore this area. Your place makes all of us wish we lived there!
Returned on June 14-18 & all was perfection. My best friend from high school & neighbor went with me for a girls only stay. Did a little trail walking, ( northern end) took lots of pix, read, watched DVD's, ate too much, saw deer on property, visited Mt Airy, NC (Mayberry), shopped in Galax, etc. Have to return soon. We were busy most of the visit but also the mountain air & views were relaxing. Sue I thank you for having us. Can see your love of cabin when walking in door. Husband & I returning in Sept. Can't wait!
The Cabin at Mill Pond is a wonderful place. The cabin and property are absolutely beautiful and well kept. Along with the cabin, the minor details truly make this a great place. I would recommend the cabin to anyone.
I started my search for a getaway weekend way too late...but most things happen for a reason. Luckily the cabin at mill pond became available last minute and without any history or knowledge of the area and/or this cabin we booked and hoped everything would work itself out. How pleasantly we were surprised! I'd like to describe every detail but don't have the space. All I can say is that Sue Ann does not miss a beat when it comes to PCE...something I try to employ everyday at my work...the "Perfect Client Experience". Sue Ann takes personal pride in assuring your stay is next to perfect. I have no complaints and will recommend for anyone looking for a secluded but not overly rustic cabin. The decor, food, hospitality, accessibility, and attention to detail were impeccable. Will be back to float the creek!
We always go back to The Cabin. 3 times now & each time is better than before. Weather wasn't the best but can't be helped. Sue does an A1 job making her guests feel at home with the breakfast crumb cake (yum), scones & wine. Will return again Fall of 2016 with golden TJ & of course husband. Thanks Sue & Mark.
The cabin is located right by Chestnut Creek and we have inner tubes . We have The Galax Old Time Fiddlers Convention here the second week in August at Felts Park ,which is a public park with a pool. We are located 3 miles from the Blue ridge Pkwy. and approx. 5 miles from the Blue Ridge Music Center . We are about 4 miles from the New River trail. We are located about 3 miles outside of Galax city limits. There is a 9 hole public golf course located in the city.
