About David Walens

My wife and I have been long time residents of Atlanta both moving to Atlanta in 1977.

David Walens purchased this house in 1987

Why David Walens chose Atlanta

This property has been in our family since 1987. We have rennovated the property and want to share this historical house.

What makes this house unique

The house is in Historic Grant Park in downtown Atlanta across the street from Zoo Atlanta. The house is a bungalow and was built in 1908. It has been renovated but keeps the charm of period with 9' ceilings, 3 original fireplaces and an active wood burning stove. The front porch is extends across the front of the house while the back yard is fenced with a stone patio and fire pit for relaxing evenings.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Historic 648 is a fantastic house. Our 10 people live in this house for 3 days and 2 nights. We have a good time in it. Everything in the house are tidy and very good. The long history of the house also brings some fantastic feeling. If we come to Atlanta again, we will still choose Historic 648.

Four in our group. Working in downtown Atlanta. Used ride share (Uber/Lyft) every day. Approx $7.00 each way. Convenient location. Quiet neighborhood. Suggested alarm clocks for our next stay. Looking forward to our next stay.

Great location, very nice for a group gathering

  • 4 of 5

This house provides a blend of historic charm and modern updates. It is a great location, just minutes from downtown Atlanta. The house is spacious and served our family gathering so much better than hotels would have. The large dining table was great for games and family time. Wifi and TV allowed people to do whatever interested them. The washer/dryer were nice so that we could start the next phase of the vacation with clean clothes. =)

We did make some recommendations to David (after leaving the house), but will say that he was very prompt in meeting the need for more dishes. Before we were home from a day of sight-seeing, he had delivered new dishes and silverware. He is accessible by phone or text.

Perfect Location!

  • 5 of 5

Charming old home in the heart of Atlanta. We were there for 8 days and after full days of sightseeing and miles of walking, it was nice to know our home base was just a short 5-10 minute drive away. The amenities are wonderful including nice towels, a complete spice pantry, and fully stocked kitchen. We cooked every night and it made our lives so much easier and comforting. We look forward to coming back again. A new stove and oven would be on my wishlist for this delightful home. :)
