Keywords: The house is a classic local design, two stories, a high gabled roof and a front proch on the East side for an afternoon place to read and watch the grass grow.
Kathleen (aka Kate) and I are migrants from the St Louis area. We moved here permanently in '09 for the climate and the lifestyle of a smaller community. Fairhope has all of the advantages of a small town and many of the advantages of a metropolitan area. We love the ambiance, working in the garden, boating on the Bay, meeting new people and keeping up with friends.
Mike Dudley purchased this house in 2008
The location is THE thing. If you get lazy and don't want to cook, there is a restaurant and a sandwich shop/bakery within EASY walking distance but you still have the privacy of a suburban neighborhood.
This is our second time at Kate's Place and my family loves it there. The access to Mobile Bay is awesome and really helps out when the jellyfish is a problem in the gulf. My family and I will keep returning as long as it is available. The owners are very nice and always there if you need them.
Such a comfortable cottage! We will return!!
Kate's Place far exceeded my expectations. Frankly the pictures do not do the house justice. It is a large, sun filled beautifully appointed home in a wonderful section of Fairhope. The four bedrooms were very comfortable, and the kitchen and living area were very large. Once special feature is the ability to utilize the dock, beach, and gazebo on the owner's property. We enjoyed morning coffee looking at the water. We brought friends down to enjoy the view and watch the pelicans and dolphins swim by. We also enjoyed lovely chats on the beautiful front porch. The property is extremely well landscaped and wonderfully maintained. The house is walking distance to Fairhope, and in a great neighborhood on the main road. The owners were very helpful throughout the whole process. They respond right away to email inquiries. We were warmly greeted and shown around the property when we arrived, and all our questions were easily answered. I would recommend Kate's Place to anyone looking to vacation in Fairhope. You will not be disappointed!!
We had a wonderful experience at Kate's Place. Mike and Kathleen were very welcoming when we arrived. The house is beautifully maintained and we had access to a pier and beach. We were very satisfied with the property.
The house was decorated well. Four large bedrooms allowed for sleeping for eight. The lot was beautiful with seating on the front porch and the back patio. The beach was great for the little one to play on. It was close to town and downtown Fairhope was beautiful. We had a wedding in Mobile and it was less than 40 minutes drive. The owners were available for any questions. There is a walking trail on the road where you can walk for miles. Just wish that I had brought my bike to ride but we had a great vacation.
We would definitely stay here again.
Kates Place was a piece of heaven away from home. It surpassed our expectations and we will being staying there again. The bay access was a big plus since the ocean was full of jellyfish while we were there. The owners are very nice people and accommodating.
