Excellent place to stay in Rome

  • 5 of 5

My family of 9 stayed in this wonderful apartment just recently. Adrianna was easy to communicate with and wonderful to work with including suggestions. She even met us late at the apartment on the night we arrived to orient us. The apartment is in a quiet neighborhood right near bus stop that takes you to Rome Central. It's also about a 15 minute walk to St. Peter's. There is a great grocery store within minutes. The apartment was large and fit my family of 9 comfortably as well as providing enough bathrooms. The apartment was as pictured and the beds were comfortable. It was November so we didn't have to worry about the summer heat or air-conditioning. Adrianna provided us with transport to and from the airport which was great. I can't say enough about how comfortable this apartment is for a large family that's not afraid to walk a little bit. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Rome. As we were in Rome most of the time, we did not use the kitchen or cooking facilities but they seem to be there. We ate breakfast from the grocery store they're most mornings. Adrianna's apartment is a great value for the money.

What a find!

  • 5 of 5

Our extended family group of 9 (ranging in age from 6 to 75) stayed at Chez Nana for four nights in October. We found that the apartment exceeded our expectations by far. Everything actually is as it appears in the photos, and in fact the reality is BETTER than the photos. With the 5 bedrooms and 3 baths, we were all assured of comfort and privacy during our stay. The large living/dining area was a perfect place for us to gather to talk about our day and to plan future excursions. Also, the wifi worked very well. We had a lot of electronic devices in use all the time--phones, iPads, laptops, etc., and we found that the connection could handle everything without any noticeable slow-downs. Although we didn't cook, we appreciated having the kitchen, which is well stocked with dishes and even includes some storage space. The washer was a godsend, because we all tried to pack light, although the dryer function on the machine was extremely time consuming. We found that it worked best to just use the "wash" cycle; then we hung things to dry or laid them out on the large drying rack provided. (There was plenty of room for the rack in one of the bedrooms.) We also appreciated that the apartment is on the first floor (one level up), so it was easy walking for all of us. Exploring the neighborhood, we found a good supermarket and lots of little shops within a short walk. We also tried a few of the recommended neighborhood restaurants for dinner. Our favorite was Papa Rex, a five-ten minute walk away. Adriana gave us a good orientation to the apartment when we arrived and also arranged taxi service to the train station on arrival and departure. She answered any questions we had promptly by email. As for sightseeing, this apartment is within relatively easy walking distance of all the Vatican sights. Beyond that, we relied on taxis to get us into other parts of the city. Given the size and age range of our group, that seemed more efficient than trying to use mass transit from this location. Bottom line, for our large group, Chez Nana was the best, most affordable place I could find on VRBO, and trust me, I searched all over Rome before making this choice. Absolutely no regrets! Thanks to Adriana for making our time in Rome so enjoyable.

Exceeded all our expectations!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Chez Nana for a week in June with a party of eight adults and one teen. Every thing about this apartment exceeded our expectations. The five bedrooms were all larger than we expected; combined with the three bathrooms, we never felt crowded with nine people. The living and dining room is also large and has room for everyone. When we were not out eating, drinking, and sightseeing, the wi-fi worked flawlessly and the number of cable channels provided was extensive. The location was perfect for us. There is a bus stop right in front of the buildings with regular service to the ancient part of Rome (you can buy bus tickets at the kiosk just down the street; Google maps/navigation was perfect for routing). The Vatican is within walking distance (and so is the rest of downtown if you're a little more ambitious). There are a number of restaurants and cafes in the area. I can't say enough about how helpful Adrianna and Francesca were. Many taxis were arranged and re-arranged and all came flawlessly. Any issues or questions we had were handled or answered immediately. Definitely would stay here again!

Fantastic property!

  • 5 of 5

Chez Nana was a fantastic property to accommodate our group of 9 adults for 6 nights in Rome! The location is perfect - within walking distance of the Vatican, but in a neighborhood with coffee shop in the block for great coffee and pastries. It is difficult to find the right bed arrangement combining space for couples and singles. The arrangements in the five bedrooms plus a very comfortable sofa bed worked well. The living room with the sofa bed has doors so that it doubled as a sixth bedroom. With the three full bathrooms, we managed nicely. The apartment is very clean and beautifully appointed. Nana and Tomasso were very helpful meeting us on arrival, checking us in and giving personal recommendations for dining. We would highly recommend Chez Nana if you are traveling s a group!

Great Unit, Great Location, & Friendly Hosts!

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at Chez Nana for 3 nights in May. There was a group of 8 adults (3 couples and 2 singles).

We arrived by train and departed by plane at FCO and we took up Adriana on her offer to arrange a private taxi for our group. The taxi was reasonably priced and a good experience. The drivers were friendly and helpful. It was a great start and great finish to our vacation and really reduced the stress of getting to the apartment when we were not familiar with Rome at all. We had a older members in our party with limited mobility and this really helped out there too.

We were greeted at the rental by the owners. They both offered to help with our bags and gave us a quick tour of the place. They made sure that we had all we needed and that we could connect to the WiFi. After this, they gave us some great local recommendations (clubs, restaurants, gelato places, and even information about a special day at the museums in Rome). We were not steered wrong by their suggestions! The restaurants were delicious, not the typical tourist places, and very reasonably priced.

The property itself was as described in the listing. It was very clean and very spacious. The unit was convenient to a few bus lines and we had no issues getting around Rome and back to the unit for the night. The unit is on the 1st floor (European 1st not USA 1st) and there was an elevator. This was used by one of our group and made it much easier to get the unit on her bad knees. The stairs were not bad but this was a nice perk. The property felt very secure and was not that loud at night. The three bathrooms were great for our group of 8 and there were no fights over time to get ready.

There is a coffee shop (Cafe Grecco) and another food shop to the right of the unit on the main street. We visited both of these during our stay and particularly enjoyed the coffee shop every morning.

I cannot say enough about how nice this property, and its owners were! They really made us feel like family from the moment we arrived. It was a great experience. We would definitely stay there again and will recommend this to friends/family going to Rome without any reservation.
