House, 3 Bedrooms + Den, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)
Family friendly, quiet and peaceful. Heavily wooded area directly on the bay with amenities within easy reach. Sugar sand beaches of Pensacola and Gulf Shores a short drive away. All-around view of the bay from spacious living room floor-to-ceiling windows. Air conditioned, electric heat, working fireplace, Dish TV, WiFi, laundry facilities, ample parking. Pirates' Cove with its dolphin cruises, old fashioned hamburgers and live music weekends is around the corner on Intracoastal Waterway. Fishing reef farther out in the bay (constructed of fragments of a Gulf Shores pier destroyed by a hurricane.) by which there is always a boat of someone fishing. Sugar sand beaches of Gulf Shores and Pensacola a short drive away. Fresh fruits and vegetable stands, farmstead cheese factory close by near Elberta. The 24 inch redfish in the photo was caught just offshorre. My son observed that just after a rain the water would be more fresh than usual and sure enough, he caught the fsh just about ten feet offshore.
Sit in the shade of ancient live oaks next to the sea wall. Moon rise is spectacular. (So is the sunrise if you're up that soon.) Still possible to encounter deer on a walk through the woods. Swimming good for children -- my father picked out the lot because of the shallow water and clean, sandy bottom.
One king bedroom, one double bedroom, one den with sleeper sofa, one daybed in center reading room, two day beds on enclosed sleeping porch. Two full bathrooms (one with shower and one with bath tub). Large kitchen with roomy eating facilities.

About Property Manager
Writer whose children learned to swim here, and enjoyed walking on the sands of Perdido Bay.
Property Manager purchased this House in 1956
Why Property Manager chose Josephine
This house was built in 1954 and expanded in 1975 by my Father who was and engineer and supervised a large part of the building of the Hoover Dam. My brother-in-law commented, after seeing the house during construction; "your father is building that house like he is spending government money." He was referring to my father's engineer's attention to detail. My father selected this site because of the soft sand and the warm shallow water which is perfect for small children. In the photos section you can see my three great granddaughters playing about 40 or 50 feet in front of the see wall, and they just over waist-deep at high tide. This is the perfect place for children.
What makes this House unique
Seeing the ospreys and other wildlife, the sound of the waves throughout the house, the quiet, friendly neighborhood, water safe for children to learn to swim, uncrowded boating, fishing right there.

Beautiful View! Filthy, Disgusting House! Took 30 hours of my time to clean in order to stay in!

***The property is 25 minutes from Beach***
When I first walked into the house, I was so disgusted with the odor! Moldy and musty!
The last review is really an accurate one from January. Dirty dishes in the cupboard. The property manager did not answer my call and when I saw her come to clean the back cottage, I know why the cottages are as clean as they are. Never came to talk to me. I never expected to go on vacation and have to clean so much....however, it was NECESSARY! No garbage bags, no dishwasher soap, no cleaning supplies. It took two bottles of Mr. Clean, four rolls of paper towels and a few rags that I had to buy it myself! Not to mention, a lot of sweat and muscle.
Humidity creates the musty smell and mold. (Need to run a dehumidifier or air conditioner) Dirt, dust, filth, fur and grease stinks....I have before and after pictures to prove the work I did! There was fur growing on the ceiling fan! FUR! So gross...
However...THE VIEW IS INCREDIBLE! After I washed the windows, we could see the beautiful sunrise every morning. Also, another advantage of cleaning the windows, we didn't have dead bug carcasses blowing on us at night when we slept, so we could enjoy the warm breeze! I also, washed the moldy curtains and cleaned under the bed, over the bed, around the bed, dusted the lampshades, cleaned the angel picture and cleaned over the door jambs. Replaced the bedding with my own and slept so well! (I'm not gonna go thru detail of what I did throughut the whole house, but I pay extreme attention to detail). The front yard should be raked so that we could walk out in the yard barefoot without stepping on empty nutshells. (Honestly, if there was one, I would have raked!) The only room I didn't clean was the small bathroom. I was just too tired!
I did however, wash the shower curtain and left a note that I did get the mold removed from it.
This house COULD make a very nice rental.
***Suggestions: Immediately: replace stained pillows and torn and worn towels
Deep Cleaning/Paint: Interior/Exterior
Replacement or Removal of Furnishings. (torn)
Upgrade Bedding. Upgrade TV. Consider a canoe or kayak.
I have to admit, After I invested the time cleaning I enjoyed my vacation.
Crazy, I'd rebook, but he raised the rent now!
I worked VERY HARD. I stayed back one day while my husband went to tour the USS Alabama to clean. Never a Thank You!
It’s a dirty house and needs a good cleansing! We liked the location and the neighbors.
The house, cabinets, windows and furnishings were very old and need a big updating. We don’t live like that at home and were not expecting such a great downgrading on vacation! We washed all the dishes before we used any! The utensils before cooking were bad. The pots and skillets need to be discarded and replaced as they are so old. We bought a few new pans and a skillet for our use while there. The fluorescent light in the ceiling did not work so ate in the dark. The king size bed, while we were not looking for luxury, was so old that it needs to be replaced—thin mattress, hard and lumpy. Pillows on bed need to be replaced—old and stained! The furniture was old and torn as well as the leather in the chair. The laundry room was very rusty and unpalatable. The side door leaked from rain coming in. The air-conditioning vent leaked when it rained. This was probably a classy place 50 years ago but now is very run-down. The room that contained a pull-out sofa, was not useable because of the old smell and dirty cushions. There was rust in the door frames close to the floor which looked as if the house could fall away—frame was rusted through. We were hoping for a nice place to vacation but, this was not it.
Wonderful view, close to all the good spots, nice friendly property owner and property manager

Great view and very friendly area.
We love staying here. Owner is very easy to work with.
Secluded beach house
loved staying here. funky little beach house that worked wonderfully for our group. Had no issues with smell or anything else (had seen previous reviews about this). would love to bring the view out of the living room (infinite water) back home to the city!
Loved the location and Home
We loved this home and location and the people in the area. We will definitely be renting this home again and again over the years. The owner was very easy to work with and very helpful. Our little dogs loved the neighbors dogs and played and had so much fun.
