About The Owner

This property is owned by two families; the Konens and the Merrills. After many years of enjoying time at the lake, our lives have gotten too busy with kid's activities to get to the lake as much as we'd like. However, when we get the chance we enjoy our time greatly and are sad to leave.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2006

Great cabin, plenty of space.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the cabin over Memorial Day weekend and very much enjoyed the cabin! In total, there were 8 adults and the cabin had plenty of space to accommodate us. We would have been able to have sleeping space for an additional handful of people. We took full advantage of the living room/dining room while it rained and the yard was great while the sun was out. Having direct access to the lake was great as we caught plenty of fish of the dock and thoroughly enjoyed the view. There were two things I wish we would have been aware of... When we arrived, we found a note that one of the two bathrooms was out of commission. They did send someone the second evening to get everything fixed. The other issue we weren't aware of was you can only land your boat at the public access which is 4 miles across the lake. All in all it is was a great place and very reasonable and Tami was great to work with.

Owner's Response: Sincerely appreciate you taking the time to provide a review. Happy you enjoyed your stay and the lake. Again, thank your for your patience as we swiftly worked to address the unforeseen plumbing issue. I also appreciate the input on the boat landing. I have since updated our listing information to make others aware of the DNR mandate and location. Take care. - Tami

The home was comfortable for us. We had 8 adults and 4 kids ranging in age from 2 yrs to 10 yrs. Everyone had a bed to sleep in. We enjoyed the beautiful view of the lake from the living/dining area of the house and from the back deck. There was also a nice deck in front of the house and a beautiful front lawn where we played beanbags and lawn Yahtzee. It got a little warm in a couple of the bedrooms that were not part of the A/C coverage, but the temperature in the rest of the house was good. There were games available and some toys for the kids to play with. We enjoyed our evening campfires in the great fire ring area. We liked having the larger area at the end of the dock to hang out and chat. The kids had a great time catching fish off the dock. Two of our kids got swimmers itch one day...they were playing in the shallow water digging in the sand for "treasures." When the direction of the wind changed, we didn't experience any further problems with that. Bay Lake is a very nice lake and we had a lot of success catching sunfish and crappies. We enjoyed our week staying at Lunker Lodge!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, EXCELLENT STAY with one glitch

  • 4 of 5

We recently stayed at this great get away. The place is very nice and had all the amenities we needed. It is not brand new and all fancy fancy but not too “rustic” either. It is just perfect. It was well stocked and very clean but not too over the top where we were afraid to sit on the furniture for fear of leaving a sand granule. Let me touch on a couple things that stood out. First off, because there are not any pics of the restroom facilities, let me assure you they are very nice. Showers worked great and they are very clean as well. As for the bedrooms, we had multiple families so really appreciated the set ups with the bed plus bunks. That worked perfect for those with kids. Additionally, though we didn’t need it, we also liked the fact that there was a second fridge for beverages or whatever in the basement and laundry facilities. As for the outdoor perks, we enjoyed having a deck in the front AND back, but please note, the steps get slippery when wet. The seating/fire pit area down by the lake was great too and gave plenty of room to spread out! Oh, and the dock was very nice and plenty large too. We also liked the flat front yard for setting up yard games, though we didn’t get around to doing it. On a side note, we also appreciated the detailed check in/out procedures and the extra info supplied by the owners. The only negative thing I would say about our stay was the fact that everyone who went in the water got swimmers itch within less than hour so that ended any water activities which was a huge bummer, especially because there was such a nice sandy bottom to the lake that seemed to go out quite a ways! Hopefully it will pass quickly. (But of course that is not the owners fault.) Oh, the only other slight downfall was the distance from the boat launch. But actually, it ended up being a good way to see a large portion of the lake. We would definitely recommend the cabin rental!

August Fun

  • 5 of 5

Such a great time! Everything in the listing was as we found the property-great size, kids had a lot of fun fishing off the dock and playing in the water. Littlest one could even wade in the water and enjoyed lots of time just playing in the sand. Beautiful view of the lake from the house/deck, great fire pit for evening relaxation and smores. "Big boys" enjoyed fishing morning and evening on the lake. Everyone enjoyed the lake in the afternoon for boating/tubing. 2 nice size living rooms with TV's (they were not used with the exception of 10 o'clock news! Too much fun outside. But they are available and nice.) We enjoyed our time so much that we actually called the owners to extend our trip for a day! Owner was very friendly and made sure to ask how everything was going--very nice! Made one evening trip to Brainerd--20-25 min away. Garrison and Rutgers (resort) close by for some shopping. Good pizza at the restaurant right down the road. I would recommend this to anyone and I hope we have the opportunity to come back! GREAT CABIN! Very impressed.

Bay Lake vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our trip was fantastic because the accomodations were wonderful! Everything was just as it was described and even better. The dock was sturdy and large. We had 7 young kids and they loved the sandy shoreline. The firepit was a huge success in the evenings and the kitchen had everything we needed. Thanks for a great stay!
