Our beautiful, spacious four bedroom, three bath beach house, Slip Away, is located on Topsail Island and provides the best of both worlds. A ninety second walk will take you to the ocean. A less than one minute walk in the other direction will lead you to the sound where you can watch spectacular sunsets. Bring your boat (30' limit) or jet ski and launch it using our private neighborhood boat ramp; then dock it for the duration of your stay at one of our 3 slips in the nearby canal. Lunch at the picnic table then enjoy sunbathing on the upper deck of the house or read a favorite book sitting in the porch swing in the shade of the lower deck.
PLEASE email or phone us with your questions BEFORE you click "Request to Book" on the reservation page. Look for the "Send a Message" link below the "Request to Book" link to email us or phone us at either 336-978-2451 or 336-946-0105. Avoid the hassles and heartaches of dealing with a commission based real estate agent. With Slip Away, you speak directly with the owners as we are a true "Vacation Rental By Owner". Most listings you see on this site are handled by commission based agents who manage dozens if not hundreds of properties and thus can devote very little time to any one property.
More About the House: The 2400 sq. ft. reverse floor plan includes three bedrooms and two baths on the first floor as well as a laundry. The second floor consists of the living / dining / kitchen area and a fourth bedroom and bath. There are hardwood floors in the dining & kitchen areas, Berber carpet in the living room and bedrooms, and tile in the bathrooms. Lots of ceiling fans and windows provide beautiful views and breezes.
There are five TVs in the house: one in the living room with a DVD player, and one in each bedroom. There is a second DVD player in one of the first floor bedrooms.
Activities:: There are many activities for the entire family nearby: surf & pier fishing; charter boat fishing, both near-shore and deep sea; crabbing & clamming; miniature golf, golf courses on the mainland; lots of shopping including several very nice art galleries; Internet cafes; roller skating; surf board, jet ski, & kayak rentals; bicycle rentals (the towns of Surf City and Topsail Beach have paved bicycle lanes); and a wide variety of restaurants from very casual to elegant. Local events that may interest you include: the Kiwanis Sun Fest (May), July 4 Fireworks, the King Mackerel Tournament (Aug.), the Snead's Ferry Shrimp Festival (Aug.), Autumn with Topsail (Oct.), & the Holiday Boat Flotilla (Nov.). During the summer visit the Sea Turtle Hospital, one of only a few such facilities in the US that cares for & rehabilitates injured sea turtles. Twice yearly you may observe the staff as they return rehabilitated turtles to the sea.
Area: Topsail Island is a family oriented beach. Visitors enjoy Topsail, returning year after year, because of the many miles of uncrowded sandy beaches. Perfect for swimming, walking, sunbathing, fishing, or simply relaxing. You will fall in love with the island. Our neighborhood is located on the southern end of Topsail. But don't limit yourself to the beach. Be sure to spend some time enjoying the sound where you will see interesting wildlife.

About Martha and Dale Brown
Martha has been coming to Topsail since 1958 when her parents built a 'cottage' on the island not far from Slip Away. She remembers practicing how to tie shoes while the family moved in the furniture. So naturally, when Martha and Dale began dating in 1977, she brought Dale to the island. In 1985 Martha and Dale, Mr. and Mrs. Brown by then, bought that little cottage from Martha's mother, but by 2003 they decided it was time for something more modern and larger for themselves and their two teenagers, so they moved a short distance down the road to BeachBreeze.
Martha and Dale Brown purchased this House in 2011
Why Martha and Dale Brown chose Surf City
In 2011 the opportunity arose to purchase Slip Away and the Browns jumped at the chance. Slip Away is located in one of the nicest neighborhoods on the Island. Few neighborhoods have access to both the ocean and the sound. In addition to that, Slip Away has its own private boat slip and a boat launch just a few steps from the front door. Located on a quiet street with only one other rental home, this is the perfect location for a family vacation.

We just returned from a several day stay at Slip Away on Topsail Island in North Carolina. We found everything to be as promised and were pleased with the location so near both the ocean and sound. The sunsets over the sound were spectacular! We hope to visit again soon.
We just visited Topsail Island and Slip Away for a long weekend and absolutely enjoyed our stay. We were able to bring our boat and dock it right at the house which was perfect. We found everything as advertised and would certainly recommend the house to others. Debbie B.
Really enjoyed our stay. The weather was perfect and the house met all of our expectations. We look forward to another stay soon!
Had a terrific time
We spent several days at Slip Away in mid-October. The weather was unbelievable! The house was immaculate and well appointed, and we were very pleased with its location relative to both the beach and sound....a very easy and quick walk to both. We will definitely stay there again! O.H.
Found the property in excellent condition and well furnished. Very convenient access to beach. Topsail Island is fantastic. Really enjoyed our stay and look forward to a repeat visit! Ollie H.
Unbelievably wonderful house
I can't begin to describe the value we received for our money. Their off-season rates can't be beat. The house is immaculate and in a terrific location. We really enjoyed the sunsets over the sound. We hope to bring a boat next time!
Topsail Island is located between Morehead City and Wilmington. In addition to the beach activities available on the island, you will find many interesting activities along the coast of North Carolina. In the Wilmington area consider a visit to the WW II era USS Battleship North Carolina and the NC Aquarium. Both great fun for children of all ages. History buffs will enjoy visiting Ft. Fisher, Brunswick Town, and the historic homes of Wilmington including Orton Plantation. Traveling north to the Morehead area you can visit the NC Maritime Museum and the 2nd of the state's three aquariums. New Bern, NC's pre-colonial capital, is home to Tryon Palace and additional homes dating to the 1700's. Are you a lighthouse buff? Visit the Cape Lookout lighthouse near Morehead and the Bald Head Lighthouse in Southport. Contact us for more information about these and other possible day trips in the Topsail area. Other Activities: kayaking, shopping, jet skiing, dolphin watching
