Our Hawaiian trip started and ended in Honolulu so we got 2 different apartments.
After checking in on our first arrival we were asked to see the welcome desk. I was preparded for some sort of sell or similar but it ended up being a great introduction: we were advised of great to-dos including the fireworks display on Friday nights.
On our first arrival we were soon very happy that we also booked our second stint at the same place. Our family of 2 adults and 2 small kids had plenty of space to stretch and live comfortably. Everything was clean and well appointed. The location is ideal with the beach and shops within a few minutes walk. Wyndham put on a few activites (like lei making, a hula show, etc.) which might be a bore to older kids but our young ones had a ball. We didn't use the pool (it isn't heated) but the spa was a nice way to finish off a day at the beach.
A note to those with cars that parking is an added cost. The valet downstairs is very convenient but with tips prepare for up to 40 dollars a day. There is cheaper parking available a short walk from the apartments. (But hey, it's a holiday and who can be bothered!)
All in all: a very positive experience and highly recommended.
Chris (the owner) had both the Wyndham Waikiki
and Embassy Suites Waikiki available.
I ending up renting the Embassy Suites Waikiki for
mid April in a 2 bedroom unit. Chris suggested checking
out the Wyndham while in town for my next visit, so I did.
The Embassy Suites Waikiki had a better pool and
Free breakfast but for around the same price I should
Have picked the Wyndham!! The Wyndham unit was much
Larger (about 1200 sq ft at the Wyndham vs about 750 sq ft
for the Embassy Suites. The Wyndham had a FULL kitchen
And the Embassy Suites only had a puny kitchenette.
The Wyndham also had a in room washer & dryer.
Next time I will pick the Wyndham hands down as we rarely
used the pool as the beach is only about a 3 to 5 min
Walk from both the Wyndham or the Embassy Suites and
why go to a pool when your in Hawaii !!!
The quality of both resorts were about equal.
