Purchased in 1986, our family has made 32 years of memories here. Come and join the dozen's of other families that have discovered the magic our special place, and book year after year to experience it again.
The main house offers a master suite with King size bed and his and hers dressing rooms. There is also a twin bed for the little ones should Mom and Dad wish to keep them close. A 32" flat screen TV with satellite is included in the master should you wish to keep up with the outside world.
Fall asleep to the song of the creek and river serenading you. The views of the river and creek from the master suite are incredible!
Bedroom two offers a very comfortable Queen bed with a large closet and TV with DVD and satellite TV if you are so inclined.
Bedroom three offers twin beds with satellite TV and a large closet for those longer visits...
The kitchen in the home was fully remodeled in 2017 with all new stainless appliances, Maple cabinets, Granite countert ops, and ceramic tile flooring.
We have attempted to supply everything one could think of for preparing meals for your family, including a Green Mountain Smoker for the most delectable barbecue you have ever tasted.
Our two bedroom apartment is available for larger groups (rented separately). Apartment accommodations include a queen, full size, and very comfortable hide-a-bed; kitchen area and full size refrigerator, and view of the river.
The apartment offers comfortable space for up to six more (total of 15) guests, and is only available in conjunction with rental of the main home. Rates (in addition to main house rental) range from $100/ night to $175/night depending on the season.
You may ask "what if it rains"? Well, we have thought of that too. Our spacious game room offers a pool table, ping pong table, a regulation arcade style air hockey table, PS3 game console with games, with a 40' flat screen TV for kids from 5 to 95!
Your Mckenzie Paradise is located on the sunny North side of the river with beautiful views of the river, creek and foothills of the Cascade range on one of the best fishing holes on the entire river!. With over 400 feet of creek and river frontage, there is always a place to wet a line, or just your toes :)
The home is situated well off the highway on a quiet dead end street. Road noise is blocked by a 6' stone wall next to the highway and approximately 200 yards of trees and grass.
Enjoy fishing? We are blessed to be located on one of the finest trout/steelhead fishing holes on the river, with easy access to the river and creek.
Fry your hatchery fish on the grated firepit at the river or cook them on the Green Mountain Smoker on the riverfront deck. Please release all wild fish unharmed :)
Enjoy romping in a big yard? Come play on one of the largest lots on the river. With over an acre of grass and landscaped garden bordering the creek and river, there is plenty of room to wear yourselves out or just relax and enjoy the peace and serenity.
Volleyball, croquet, bocci ball, badminton, soccer, tossing a football or frisbee? You can't find a better location!
The property is surrounded by an incredible mix of outdoor activities. Fishing, rafting, hiking, mountain biking, golfing, hot spring soaking, bird watching, wildlife viewing and so much more are all just minutes from our front door.
Our asphalt driveway provides plenty of space for an RV or your toys, with a plug in off the gargage/apartment on the driveway.
Our Mckenzie home has been our family retreat for 32 years. We are happy to offer to share the magic of our beautiful with you. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do, and trust you will!

About Charles Prince
Howdy All! My name is Charles Prince. I was born and raised in Oregon and learned from an early age to appreciate the beautiful gifts in my backyard--the Mckenzie and Willamette River's. Back in those days our parents cut us loose in the morning and expected us to wear ourselves out by evening. Living between the Mckenzie and Willamette afforded me wonderful opportunities to hone my independent streak and fishing skills. I was a fishing and rafting outfitter on the river for 12 years before I decided to pursue a different path in life... I have four children (three boys and a girl) who have been raised around the river. Many of the finest days of our lives have been spent at our Vida home. We feel truly blessed to have such a quiet, pastoral setting to share with our friends. Our dog's Gerta and Barchen say it is awesome too :) Good dogs are welcome, but there are no fences, so please keep them close. We hope you will enjoy our home as much as we do... Cheers! Charles Prince

Why Charles Prince chose Vida
Our home is unique in that it has approximately 400' river and creek frontage, plus over an acre of grass to run, jump, fish, play or just relax. As you will see when you arrive--our hearts are in it :)
What makes this House unique
From the moment you turn in the paved drive, the Mckenzie begins to work her magic on you. Before you even begin to unpack the car, walk down the sidewalk past the arched entry and gaze at the river... then you will understand what makes our location and home so unique. Take in the incredibly large yard well off the highway which makes for an exceptionally quiet and peaceful location for getting away with family and friends. There is outstanding fishing right on the property. Our home is located at the mouth of Gate Creek, one of the largest tributaries of the river. With over 400 feet of river and creek frontage, there is plenty of room to soak your toes and wet a line. The Rainbow and Steelhead congregate at the mouth of the creek which can lead to amazing days! Flyfishing is especially good from June through July and again in September/October for Rainbows and Steelhead looking to fatten up on Caddis, Mayflies and other treats. The property is also an excellent raft takeout. Come experience the magic of the Mckenzie for yourself--but beware, it is an addictive experience :)

A Wonderful Stay
We had a wonderful stay in this lovely house. Everything was perfect. The owner was very helpful and kind. I would highly recommend a stay at this spot.
I would rent it again!
This property and home were immaculate! We had a wonderful time. The home is very well stocked with everything!! A great place to hang out with kids. There are only three bedrooms so if you have a large fam, rent the apartment, too. The only reason I didn't give this a 5 star rating is because the dish network went out on the second day. We did all the things on the screen but nothing worked. We did not call the company or the owner. They had sooo many good movies that we hardly missed! Also, the garbage disposal was broken. We didn't find this out until it was full and we went to turn on. There was a clear piece of tape over the switch. The microwave frequently (I don't know how to say this right) blows the breaker switch but is easy to reset. They could use a few more dish towels. I would not hesitate to rent this property again and would recommend to a friend.
Thank you for your review and the information.
I certainly wish you had called regarding the TV.
Weather can play a role, especially in Winter, but I am confident I could have got it back online.
I went up right after you departed but was unable to determine the issue with the garbage disposal. I wonder if it may have been jammed and the cleaners cleared it?
The microwave is another mystery...I stay frequently, and have not been able to replicate the problem.
If you come again and are having an issue just call! I am always available to help my guests.
With kind regards,
Great Place for Family Holidays
I and my family spent the Thanksgiving Holiday here and had a fantastic time. The very large, modern kitchen made food prep easy and fun, plenty of room to prepare food and visit with family. The bedrooms are very comfortable and cozy. The river view is fabulous. The deck is enormous, the yard beautiful. I will be staying here again.
Holidays on the river are special indeed. I miss those days, but with family spread out like they are it's better to share with others these days.
I am so glad you all enjoyed yourselves. I love the new kitchen too, and especially the expanded serving area right next to the dining room table. Makes entertaining a real pleasure.
I hope to have you all back again soon!
Another wonderful vacation on the McKenzie
I've lost track of the times we have stayed here, each one has been a wonderful experience! The house is great, the new kitchen is fantastic (love the tile)! We had many a memorable meal at the big oak table. Fishing was off the charts, and a first ever for catching a Carp! Couldn't wait to get it back in the river.... The newly painted deck is beautiful, as were the other little upgrades to the property.
Charles and Kelly again we can't thank you enough for sharing your beautiful home with us all these years! Howard/Cummings family.
Dear Becky, and JoEllen
As always, I love to share our special getaway with your wonderful family.
I look forward to having you all back in 2018!
With fond regards,
Top three property/location in 20 years of VRBO rentals
We really enjoyed the river access. Beautiful setting, great fishing, comfortable home. We picked wild local blackberries. We enjoyed the visiting the local fish hatchery and explored some great hikes along the McKenzie River not far from the house.
Thank you for the kind words Jeff!
There is something magical about a warm Summer day on the river. I am so happy to hear you all enjoyed your stay.
Come back and visit again sometime!
Great as Usual!!!
As I told Charles on the phone we really enjoyed our stay!!! Our grandson caught fish in the river, played for hours in the creek and found heart shaped rocks to take home to add to their collection.
I know we will be back!!!
The Mckenzie River has several natural hot springs to soak away your stress. Belknap Springs is a developed spring 30 minutes East on Hwy 126. With two pools and river view, it is a gorgeous setting. Terwilliger Springs 'Cougar Hot Springs' are more rustic springs managed by the Forest Service located approximately 30 minutes S.E. above Cougar Reservoir on Aufderheide Scenic Dr. The springs are situated a short 1/3 mile off the paved road in an old growth forest. Truly a gorgeous setting! The Mckenzie River Trail offers a great hiking or mountain biking adventure just 15 minutes upstream.
