Very disappointing experience

We have stayed in VRBO accommodations many times and have always been satisfied. We have even received a "great guest review"! As a result we feel compelled to report that this accommodation does not meet the bare minimum of a VRBO accommodation.

The website description is misleading but moreover the condition of the furnishings and the yard do not warrant the rental rate by any stretch of the imagination -- extremely dark interior, ripped couch, broken chair legs, 4 shabby indoor outdoor carpets in the living room, mold in the bathroom, no view, no pool???..)

We would go so far as to say that the owners are gouging renters and will publish this as a warning. We stayed for a week but given the dismal condition of the house we spent all of our days and ate all of our meals at our friend's rental down the road. We were to share cooking but our friends were reluctant to eat there as it wasn't a very comfortable or appealing place to spend any time. We used it merely as a place to sleep. We would have forgiven and forgotten that we were paying for a much nicer place and that we barely even used the place but they had the audacity to charge an extra cleaning fee. It was outrageous. We asked for an accounting but were told that there would be so such courtesy.

While there were a lot of deficiencies the owners did not give a hoot for our comfort or safety. The first night of our arrival we had to sleep (or not sleep) to the sound of a very loud generator as a result of an unexpected power outage. This was not the owners fault but they let the generator run out of gas and this affected the water supply. They never arrived in the morning to check on us so we had to go the neighbours to use the bathroom, etc. the first morning.

Honestly we would have ignored everything but the extra cleaning fee was insult added to injury and other renters should be warned.
