Cute, cozy, quaint cabin surrounded by trees. Very peaceful!

  • 4 of 5

If you are looking for a cozy, quaint cabin in the woods, this is your place. It felt like camping but with with a shower. It's more of a "roughin it" type of cabin but very cute. Nice getaway, close to Julian and in a beautiful neighborhood. Very quiet and peaceful. Really enjoyed our stay!

Rustic charm

  • 4 of 5

Cozy, snug cabin in a quiet, tree-filled neighborhood - we could not have been more pleased! Julian was packed with tourists for NY weekend and the snow that came down the previous night. We didn't feel the least bit inclined to fight the traffic or crowds but instead happy to stay warm in this adorable cabin. We left only to walk the dog.

One thing to be aware of is the woodpile is outside. We arrived after it had been raining for hours and even though it was covered w/a tarp, the wood was soaked. We ran into town once to find some dry wood - which was tough in general due to how much rain. Something to plan ahead for if you arrive in the rain.

We hope to come back - new favorite Julian hidey-hole!

Owner's Response: Thank you, I'm glad that you enjoyed your stay. I will look into possibly securing or replacing the tarp. I'm sure the wind had something to do with it too!

Smelled like a skunks hideaway

  • 1 of 5

Cute cabin but very hard to find on a foggy nite.

The directions I was sent did not make it easy to find.

The driveway was very hard to see or drive in.

Extremely steep and tight.

Cabin smelled like a skunks den.

Overwhelming smell like it had sprayed in the cabin or was living underneath.

If the odor is taken care of and the driveway and house number given some attention, this cabin would be worth the stay.

Picture shown is the backside of the cabin, it does not help you find the place.

Cozy cabin for short people with weird smell

  • 3 of 5

My husband and I decided to rent a cabin for the weekend. When I called to make the reservation, they had me on hold for 20 min. Then, the person on the phone didn't give me any info on the property. He said I had to wait until the property manager approves it , and then she will send me all the details. I felt that was kinda weird, but ok.. We got there on Friday, and we followed instructions on how to get the key, etc. As soon as we opened the door, the cabin smelled like old humid wood. We sprayed air refreshener and open all the windows, but the smell didn't go away. It was bigger than what we expected and fully equipped ( fridge, stove, micro, toaster, queen size bed, old tv with vhs) so no complaints on that, but it really needs a deep cleaning. Spiderwebs everywhere ( no kidding), stove, microwave and toaster were really disgusting with food leftovers. It looked like nobody had been there in a while. My husband is 6'2" and he almost hit his head a couple of times, especially going to the restroom ( there is like a metal support, so careful with that). The shower is super low ( definitely for short people) and narrow, really uncomfortable. I'm only 5'6" and I had to bend over to rinse my head. The bathroom sink had one side for cold water and another one for hot water ( we thought that was kind of funny). Overall okay for a getaway, but there's a lot of room for improvement.

Owner's Response: I am not sure your comments about communication are accurate. This is a family owned property. There is no property manager. I will certainly look into the cleanliness. I have not personally been up to the cabin in a while. With regards to the odor, the cabin is all cedar and was built prior to World War II. The age is certainly a part of the odor. I'm sorry that your stay was not what you had expected.
