VILLA VALENTINA

Villa Valentina is located in the beautiful seaside village of Levanto, the perfect base in which to explore the 5 Terre, as well as other villages along the stunning Ligurian coast.

Situated between Monterosso al Mare (5 Terre) and Bonassola, Levanto offers its visitors a vast array of things to see and do. You’ll have several good restaurants to choose from and a lovely town center for walking and shopping. The large sandy beach with its protected bay is one of the most beautiful on the coast.

This town was voted as one of Italy’s top seaside resorts thanks to the quality of its sea, the artistic and environmental heritage, quality of services, and cultural activities. With its old world charm, Levanto continues to lead as a village concerned about retaining its strong history, while supporting quality tourism and the natural balance of Nature.

Villa Valentina is newly constructed with all new furnishings and amenities of the highest quality. The apartment is light and airy and decorated tastefully with quality always in mind. We are located just a few minutes from the train station, beach and downtown area.

There is a large creek fed by mountain springs on two sides. Our only neighbor is a frantoio (olive oil press) that operates in the winter months only so you’re guaranteed a quiet and restful stay.

Our garden is a communal area, and we think you will enjoy this aspect of your stay. Under the gazebo & wisteria there is an outdoor eating area with table, chairs and a Weber gas barbecue for our guests use. You're welcome to collect fresh eggs from our on-site chicken coop, organic tomatoes when in season and any of the fresh herbs around the property.

GETTING AROUND:

Should you arrive by car we have plenty of free parking as well as a guest parking pass which allows you to park in Levanto as a resident, mostly for free--you can leave your car at the train station all day (free of charge) while exploring the area.

We provide bicycles for your use during your stay—Levanto is, for the most part flat terrain which makes it great for riding a bici (bicycle). It’s a fun way to do your shopping or to explore the area—like the locals do.

Parking is a challenge in 5 Terre. For this reason we would recommend exploring the area by train or ferry boat rather than a car. It’s easy, convenient, and will save you a lot of stress. Cinque Terre (Monterosso al Mare) by train takes only 4 minutes. By boat ferry or car it takes 15 minutes. The ferry boat goes to Monterosso, Vernazza, Manarola, Riomaggiore and Portovenere.

Train Station: A 10-minute walk from VV or a few minutes by car or bicycle. With the parking pass we provide you can park all day for free.

Beach: 5 minutes by car, 15 minutes by bicycle.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Our family with 2 teen boys have just spent a wonderful week at Villa Valentina, and we would have to say it is one of the best places we have ever stayed.

The attention to detail is outstanding: Paula with her warm welcome and tremendously helpful info about the area, the beautiful decor and comfort of the apartment, and the charm of chickens and fresh eggs and the garden. Within an hour of arrival, our boys said "they never wanted to leave" :) ! We were also delighted to go out in Angelo's boat - one of the highlights for our boys. A terrific base for exploring the Cinque Terre: we spent our week hiking, biking, and swimming .... highly recommended!

Fantastic Cinque Terra Hidden Gem

  • 5 of 5

The beautiful pictures of this home can not convey how stunning it all is. It is just breath taking in both design, comfort and location. Paula has decorated the home with everything you could possible think of and all with a fresh artistic flair. Everything is so new, clean and well stocked. The home is very comfortable. Beyond that however, is the wonderful location of the home. It isn't an easy walk to downtown Levanto....you will need to drive to get there....but it is a short drive. The location is tucked away just outside the town on a fantastic country property. The gardens of the home, the setting of the home in the gorgeous hills of Levanto are just amazing. It is a great respite from the busy and touristy villages of the Cinque Terra. We enjoyed walking around the environs of the Villa, sitting out in the gardens in the evenings after a day of sight seeing and appreciating the meals we made with the gifts of the property.....fresh eggs, peas, and wines that Paula offers. Angelo is a native of the area and has much to share about the history of it. You feel like you are visiting with locals when you stay here. This lovely home and the graciousness of Angelo and Paula was the highlight of our trip to Italy. All of the good reviews others have stated about this location are all true and more.

Best place in all of Cinque Terre!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed in the wonderful Villa Valentina in April, 2014. Paula and Angelo were absolutely amazing! From the warm welcome and visit with Paula, which included chilled Prosseco and warm bread, to the fantastic boat tour with Angelo, everything was spectacular! The home itself was charming, cozy and so relaxing! We loved gathering fresh eggs in the morning to start our day! Paula was so kind to help us with any and all questions. This was definitely one of our favorite spots out of all of our travels while living abroad. Would recommend it with the absolute highest confidence! We are no longer living in Europe, but hope to get back to visit someday! Thank you, Paula and Angelo for such a wonderful time!

Exceeds expectations!

  • 5 of 5

Wow! We had a wonderful stay at Villa Valentina! It is beautifully tucked in the hillside of Levanto away from the hustle and bustle of Cinque Terre. We stayed in The Gardenia that connected to the villa next door, and it was one of the best equipped and immaculate homes we've rented in our travels abroad. Paula, Angelo and their daughters welcomed us with such warmth and kindness - fresh eggs and warm pastries in the morning, delicious anchovies (Angelo's specialty), chilled Proseco on arrival, making restaurant reservations, and great recommendations for hiking and access to Cinque Terre. Our only regret was missing Angelo's boat cruise due to rough seas! We hope to return again one day soon!

Brilliant family holiday that had it all!

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful place in a fabulous location. We have stayed in many self-catering cottages and gites in Britain and on mainland Europe - this was the most thoughtfully presented and prepared as well as being very stylish. We loved having access to the bikes and I thoroughly enjoyed feeding and collecting fresh eggs from the hens at the bottom of the side garden. The main gardens are beautiful and spacious. This is a very special place and the owners are generously available to make recommendations and give advice. Staying here is a real treat. It is a great base for visiting the beautiful coast and Cinque Terrae national park of the five historic villages by the sea. The train station is about a ten minute (quick) walk and its about twenty minutes to walk into the lovely old town of Levanto and beach (a bit longer to walk back as it is slightly up hill). It is much quicker by bicycle of course. This is also a good base for visiting Pisa and Genova and other beautiful Italian cities. There are also some lovely walks can be done from the door for the more energetic or for resting and relaxing there are great hammocks in the gazebo area. If anything Villa Valentina is even better in reality than it is in the pictures!

Absolutely Wonderful

  • 5 of 5

I hardly know where to start, our visit to Villa Valentina was absolutely wonderful. We visited in April, midway through a 3 week European trip with our two daughters in their early 20's. Right from the start, we knew we had made the right choice in staying at Villa Valentina. Paula met us at the train station, took us for a drive to give us a lay of the land and point out areas of interest. She then had cheese, bread, meats, olives and wine waiting for us at the Villa and sat down with us to get to know us a little. We have used VRBO a number of times before, in different areas of the US and Europe, and never before have our "hosts" taken the time to do this. It really made us feel like we were going to be well taken care of during our stay, and indeed, we all felt quite spoiled by all the personal touches that Paula and Angelo provide. Both Paula and Angelo have an amazing ability to be available, while respecting your privacy. We stayed in Gardenia and the pictures reflect just how colorful and cozy it was. There were so many things I would consider extra that were provided: fresh eggs from the hens in the morning, fresh breads left in a basket for us, cozy terry robes for all of us, a cell phone with their number in it for information which we did use, bicycles for fun and transportation, and the beautiful private patio and yard. Paula had a number of recommendations regarding what to see and where to eat and she was spot on every time. Paula and Angelo have certainly found their calling, sharing their love and passion for their beautiful Ligurian coast. The only complaint I would have is that every detail was so well considered and we felt so fortunate to be there, that our next VRBO stop took some getting used to, as one of our daughter's said, "its not like Paula and Angelo's" and few places are this special. Thank you for giving us such a memorable experience and we look forward to returning some day.

Villa Valentina is located in the beautiful seaside village of Levanto, gateway to the Cinque Terre. Levanto is the perfect base from which to explore the Cinque Terre, as well as other villages along the stunning Ligurian coast. Levanto is surrounded by beautiful mountains, features a wonderful historical center and a fantastic beach, all this and only a 4-minute train ride to the Cinque Terre! Levanto is still a destination mainly visited by Europeans, which means you will have the experience of being off the well-beaten tourist path and yet you will have easy access to everything.
