Our father purchased this cabin in the 70's, and loved living there the rest of his life. When we inherited the place, we wanted to keep it in the family. We have many wonderful memories of family reunions and quiet times with Dad. His grandchildren always enjoyed swimming and kayaking the river on summer days.
Our family enjoys the quiet and scenic views. We are always delighted by the brilliance of the stars in the night sky. From the patio, we often see deer crossing the river, and water fowl in their take-offs and landings. We are motorcyclists, and have treated ourselves to several of the spectacular routes through Hill Country.
We had a fantastic time. The location is spectacular and the river was relaxing and beautiful. The amenities were great! The only negative was a roach problem in the kitchen and upstairs.
We greatly enjoyed our stay at this river cabin. We are a large family with 5 boys, and appreciated the layout of the sleeping arrangements. The second floor sleeping quarters is separated and accessible only from the outside, like a little apartment, which the older boys liked because it gave them some privacy and the ability to come and go to fish at late hours. The river was perfect. Deep swimming hole with calm water perfect for all ages, but faster moving water just down stream. The boys used the canoes and kayaks to go fishing, and everyone stayed in the water all day. Perfect place to get away and relax. The cabin was older and had some little quirks (few light bulbs out, toilet that ran constantly), but overall a comfortable place. Jay, the owner, was extremely responsive and helpful. We probably asked about 50 different questions via email and phone, and he always answered quickly. Four star rating only because the third floor sleeping quarters upstairs was really not usable. My guess is it wasn't insulated because it got so hot up there, my younger son couldn't tolerate it and we had to bring the mattress down to the living room in the main house. However, the other 2 rooms and the living area with a comfy and good quality futon were very comfortable, with cold AC. Overall nice stay. The boys said it was their favorite "camping" trip so far!
My husband and I took our daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren here for a few days. It was an amazing experience. The river is clear and cool and was fun for all. The kids swam all day and had so much fun! We also fished and caught lots of perch, catfish, and bass. The cabin itself is beautiful and everything we needed was provided, except food. We have decided we will make this an annual family event. What a wonderful experience!!
If your looking for a tranquil get away, and great riverfront property look no further.. Spacious house, ample yard, and a deep swimming hole..
We had two couples in our party and the house was laid out well for both with common areas and privacy for the couples. The property entrance off CR411 is easy to miss. Even after arriving we missed it twice on our way back from town. You can't get any closer to the river than this property. It has good access to the water unlike many of the surrounding properties. There is also a small "beach" and a natural limestone shelf in the water that allows you to keep your head above water. Plenty of fire wood and excellent fire pit outside, and nice stone fireplace inside. The covered porch was awesome for the thunderstorm we endured. The kitchen was well stock, having little items we neglected to bring. We had cell service (although spotty) from AT&T, Sprint, & Verizon. That being said we found ourselves putting the phones in airplane mode and just enjoying our surroundings. We definitely will be back. Our only wish was there was a dedicated third bedroom to avoid awkward sleeping arrangements with three couples.
We enjoyed our 3 days and 3 nights at this cabin in March 2016 with 2 adults and 4 kids. Excellent fishing in mornings and evening with over 60 catch and release panfish plus a few bass in clear waters. Kayaks and canoe added to kid's fun. Cabin is extremely clean and well provisioned. Fire pit and grill were excellent. We would definitely visit again in spring or late fall.
