Maine Seaside Retreat : Desirable Brighams Cove

Bedrooms 2
Property type house
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-5)

This charming, tasteful, non-smoking, contemporary home perched on the edge of beautiful Brighams Cove offers lovely views from every window. This is the 10th year it's been rented and visitors have told us it was much more than they ever expected. See reviews.

As most public beaches do not allow dogs during the summer season, we provide a pass for our guests to a nearby (10 min.) beautiful secluded sandy beach for your water loving dogs.

We are within minutes of numerous amenities such as beaches, state parks, museums, theaters, zip-lining, World-Class shopping, antiquing, etc....yet situated on a dramatic, quiet wooded site with stairs and ramps leading down to the entrance. Located within an hour drive for easy day trips to points of interest such as Boothbay Harbor, Freeport (home of L.L. Bean) and the historic Old Port in Portland for an active night life.

Immediately outside the floor to ceiling windows lies the quaint picturesque Brighams Cove dotted with lobster boats, motorboats, sail boats, kayaks and canoes. There are water views from all rooms that are truly breathtaking!

The focal point of activity is the large sun deck overlooking Brighams Cove with panoramic views of the islands of Winnegance Bay. The deck leads down to a private pier and float with ladder for a relaxing day of swimming, boating, kayaking and fishing in the deep water cove, known for having the warmest waters along the Maine coast (Down East Magazine).

Immediately upon entering the home you are on the 2nd floor tiled foyer overlooking the open concept 1st floor living / dining room and the water beyond. The galley kitchen with granite countertops, highend induction cooktop and stainless steel appliances overlooks the living / dining area and Brighams Cove. The first floor vaulted ceiling rises to the open second floor master bedroom suite with its fully contained bathroom, including soaking tub/shower and comtempory sink. The master bedroom is complimented with a small viewing balcony to enjoy the ocean breezes and the lovely views. This home is truly pristine inside & out and has so many wonderful amenities. You will not be disappointed!

The first floor bedroom off the living area is clearly a favorite. Its panoramic views take in Perrys Cove, Brighams Cove, and Winnegance Bay with a turn of the head. Two California twin beds provide sleeping for two. The first floor also has a full bath.

The hot tub off the living area is a great place to relax with a evening coctail. It is perched on a rock cliff under a huge pine tree with spectacular views of Brighams Cove, Perrys Cove and Winnegance Bay. At night the lights of Cundy's Harbor can be seen across the bay.

Mid-Coast Maine

  • 5 of 5

We stayed three weeks at this property and enjoyed every day there! We brought our 7 year old cat with us and she loved the deck and cool temps!

The house offers spectular views of Brigham Cove and gives one the feel of living in the woods with a view! It is an exceptionally clean and well equipped property. The house has history that the owners are willing to share with you that makes the house even more exceptional!

We stayed in the mid-coast area for the simple beauty of the area, and for easy access to other areas north and south of Phippsburg for excursions !

Maine is July/August was a treat for us!

Wow View! Fantastic Cove Location!

  • 5 of 5

Wow is the first thing you will say as you open the door to this perfect vacation spot. Water views from every window make the home feel likes it is literally floating on the water. As you step down the the spacious living room you will find it filled with comfortable seating and a large coffee table. If the view from the floor to ceiling windows are not enough for watching, there is a large flat screen TV. The open dining room has a table that accommodates plenty of diners. The kitchen overlooks the dining/living space-- although small it really has everything you could need. The double sliders that lead to the deck offer an unbelievable breeze to the living area. On a beautiful day the deck is really where you want to be. Plenty of outdoor seating ( table and loungers) to enjoy a morning coffee or grilled dinner. We cooked a peck of clams out there one night. The grill was new and very clean! The deck looks out to a picturesque cove filled with docks and boats. We were able to bring our 20 ft. boat and canoe and tie them up at the dock for the week which made them easily accessible. Back in the house the bedroom configuration worked out well for our family of four and a dog. Kids slept in the twin beds on the first floor bedroom and the master bedroom and bathroom are on the second floor. Before we went to sleep we enjoyed the private hot tub. Screened in so no bugs, the hot tub also had amazing views of the cove as well. The house was perfect and Jim made sure of that! We had a fantastic Fourth of July week in this home and hope that it becomes and annual tradition!

Fantastic week

  • 5 of 5

You can't beat the views here!! It has the feel of a ship, open and airy, but spotless and comfortable with modern, high end touches and appliances with a fantastic hot tub to boot. The cove is very quiet and beautiful. A canoe ride around the cove revealed a eagle nest, lobster boats, birds and beautiful sailboats. The owner lives nearby and was very friendly and helpful....highly recommend!!

The very coolest thing about this house is that you feel like you are on a ship. The house is situated directly on the rock outcrop over the inlet and the small harbor. And then there's the house - such a labor of love in the details. Houses are uncommonly built this way. The furnishings are delightful and the house is immaculately clean. We have rented houses all over the world and this one really stands out. And the owners - too wonderful and helpful. It's truly an AAA+ place.

Excellent week in Phippsburg!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and and I have vacationed in phippsburg many times....from camping at Hermit Island to the Lighthouse at Sebasco Resort. This was the first year we rented a house and we were so glad we did! The house is beautiful, clean, well maintained and stocked. I surprised myself and cooked more than anticipated because the induction cooktop was so much fun. I'm usually kind of skeeved at using dishes, glassware, walking barefoot, etc. in a strange place but this house was so clean, I didn't feel any of that.

We had fun paddling around in our rented two person kayak all week. The water is like glass in the morning and evening. There are schools of tiny fish that jump out of the water and with a kayak you can glide right through them!

Things that surprised me about the house compared to the's on a very private road with 3 houses on it. The road is kind of steep but definitely doable. The shower is strange...probably the least desirable feature of the house. Jim says they're thinking of putting in an outdoors shower, which would be great. Nothing like a little outdoor nudity to make a vacation interesting!

My suggestion would be to enhance the deck to compliment the beautiful view and make it a nice place to sit in the evening.

All in all, would definitely return to this lovely home for another vacation.

Incredible Experience

  • 5 of 5

I would like to start by saying thank you to those before me who left their descriptive reviews as I would never have picked this incredible spot for our vacation. Yes I am so thankful to all who said, great house, great location, great views, great home owners as they really hit the mark on this one. It gives me great joy to say I just had the best vacation ever and all thanks to this listing. It was not over stated and I found this place to be more breathtaking in person. If you really want to treat yourself to an escape from it all regardless of what the weather is doing this is the place to be. The homeowners take great pride and it is apparent from the moment you enter this retreat. Nothing could top this lovely quirky home and oh everything is just where you whould anticipate it to be.

I am so thankful for having the great priviledge of meeting such great people as David & Jim that I will never forget them or their home. For that I will always cherish this great experience. I only had one regret and that was I didn't have more time. I only hope I get the opportunity to return next year to pick up where I left off and oh yes to meet Darlene in person!
