Pasadena is centrally located because we are close to the mountains, the beach, the airport, and downtown LA. We are home to Jackie Robinson, Julia Child, Eve Bunting, and numerous other illustrious scientists, radio personalites, artists, musicians, dancers, and actors. Old Town Pasadena is full of restaurants, cafes, bookstores, and shops including an Apple Store.
There are countless opportunities to enrich and enjoy life here because we are a multicultural city. Read: good music, good food, good dancing and good art.

kathleen diener purchased this house in 2001
I bought my home in Pasadena because I love Pasadena! It has the feeling of a town, but has the amenities of a cosmopolitan city.
The architecture is notable, the trees are stately, and the mountains are quietly majestic.
I love the fact that so many cultures are represented in Los Angeles.
Southern California has a Mediterranean climate. Our winters are mild. The sun shines a lot. In the summer, the days are hot, and the nights are cool which is great for sleeping.
My house has a cosmopolitan ambience because I seek to create beauty in restoring and adorning the house. The house reflects an international spirit that is welcoming to all.
It is minutes away from a hike in the mountains, Old Town, Cal Tech, Walt Disney Concert Hall, the beach, the airport, Huntington Library, coffee houses, restaurants, museums, and numerous venues for live music and dancing.
Restaurants abound: Thai Ethiopian, Cuban, Brazilian, Mexican, Korean, Japanese and Chinese because these people are Los Angeles!
The Korean spa is a real relaxer. Chinese foot massage, too!
The green aspect: there are two Toto low-flush toilets, a compost pile, a clothesline, and a bike. The walls in the master bedroom and kitchen are plastered with American Clay which has no VOCs. I have a peach tree, lemon and pomelo tree, and a baby apricot tree. The neighborhood is full of fruit trees.
It is not uncommon to see skunk, raccoon, possum, hawks, parrots, hummingbirds, and wrens.
This is what makes my home in Pasadena unique and inviting. It is an urban home with a rural flavor.
I stayed in Kathleen's delightful house with elderly family members, and we loved our stay. Kathleen has a beautifully decorated house, fully furnished in all respects and with wifi that is easy to use. Parking is inside her gate. We used all three bedrooms and were very comfortable sitting in the living room with additional family members. It was quiet enough to record stories for the family. The kitchen is fully stocked with whatever you need to prepare meals, and we had a lovely breakfast in the sunny dining alcove with her nice linens. A 3 ring notebook tells you about local places to buy food, eat or have fun, and there is a pile of guidebooks, too. Thanks, Kathleen.
We stayed at this colorfully decorated house for 10 days during the Thanksgiving holiday. It is in a neighborhood great for walking. The local architecture and landscaping is fun to view. The house has all the needed amenities - large couch, extra chairs, large dining room and separate kitchen. The three bedrooms are outfitted with comfortable beds and both bathrooms are modern. We spent most of our time at our daughter's near by house, so we didn't use the outside space, although it appeared very pleasant. The house is heated via one very large vent in the living room. It does a good job in the shared spaces, and space heaters ensured that the bedrooms were toasty during a couple of cool nights. A breakfast nook for 3 or 4 was especially nice with great light and a view of the neighborhood. A car would be helpful for grocery shopping and for getting into town, although the area is well served by Uber. The home owner was very responsive to all our inquiries. We'd definitely stay here in the future.
Although the owner was delightful, the property was a bit of a disappointment. The house was much older and rundown than the photos suggested.
My parents and I stayed here for 11 days so I could have major surgery at USC, and it worked wonderfully for us. The easy flow between rooms allowed me to move around well with a walker, but the layout also afforded plenty of privacy -- helpful since my parents are divorced! My mother valued the en suite bathroom in the back (white) bedroom, and my father liked being able to tuck away peacefully in the front (rose) bedroom. I stayed in the middle (sage) bedroom, giving me easy access to both of them, and to both bathrooms. (Note that there's a door directly from the middle bedroom to the back bedroom, so there's not total privacy between those two rooms.) The kitchen is spacious and easy to work in, and there's a little spot to eat in there as well as a breakfast nook, a huge dining/working table, and an outdoor table with an umbrella. We made heavy use of the washer/dryer in the garage and the TV with Netflix, and we took a lot of walks around the quiet, friendly neighborhood. Because of my condition, we didn't see many sights, but we did love the Huntington Botanical Gardens. I've been to plenty of gardens, and the Huntington is the most magnificent I've seen -- by far!
Everything was as described, and Kathleen was helpful and communicative before, during, and after. And she was completely lovely and forgiving about the fact that we accidentally broke her coffee pot!
We stayed in this sweet home for a weekend in November. It was the perfect time to visit Pasadena - sunny, but not overly warm. The house was very clean, and absolutely adorable. It had an older home charm, and hip and artsy decorations. The three bedrooms and two baths were perfect for our party of 5 people. We especially loved the dining room area, which had a fantastic large rustic table. We spent most of our time in the house sitting around this table together. The neighborhood is lovely, with many tree-lined streets and a short drive to downtown Pasadena.
We enjoyed our stay at this house very much. Kathleen and the home are both very welcoming! She is accessible for questions about the home and very accommodating. The house is lovely with lots of beautiful decor and even great toys for the kids to play with! My only comment would be that the home was a little warm during our stay (end of July, beginning of August) and the beds were a on the firm side. We had most of our meals outside--backyard outdoor space is nice! Thanks for everything!
Kathleen's home provided my wife, sister and brother-in-law and parents with a comfortable accomodation during our time in Pasadena. My wife and I moved away from Pasadena two years ago and are very familiar with the variety of home styles in Southern California. Kathleen is a very accomodating host and made us feel so very welcome in her home. Thank you Kathleen. We enjoyed ourselves tremendously.
