We choose this vacation home because we love Cape Cod. Our family has been coming to Cape Cod for many years and the quaintness of Olde Cape Cod still exists. We feel so comfortable in this home; we love the location and spending time here in Harwich. We plan on retiring, some day, in Harwich and this home.
We enjoy returning to the tranquility of the neighborhood after enjoying a day of biking on the rail trail or relaxing at the beach. We love the 5 minute drive to East Harwich shopping and dining and the 10 minute drive to Chatham center in one direction and Harwichport in the other direction. It is tough decision to decide on the Hot Stove for dinner and the Sundae School for dessert in Harwichport or the Chatham Squire for chowder!!
Centrally located on the best part of the Cape, this home is perfectly equipped with all the amenities of home, as well as everything you need to enjoy a nice vacation.
The living space is clean and comfortable, and is as well furnished as your own house would be. Every detail has been addressed - from the expected things like the kitchen that has any utensil, pot, pan, mug, wine glass, colander, cheese board, bottle opener, etc that you'd ever want, to the unexpected like games for the kids, a fully stocked linen closet, and even a nicely assembled collection of flyers and other propaganda detailing local tourist attractions and restaurants. One of the unexpected surprises was the availability of portable beach chairs and sand pails to take on your trips to the shore!
Our family spent 9 days here with grandma and grandpa (and their dog, who was also welcomed by the owner) and had a very pleasurable trip.
The home is located off any of the main roads, but routes 28 and 6 are close enough that you're conveniently able to get anywhere on the Cape you want without the hassle of being right on one of the main roads.
The house sits on a very quiet street with a well maintained yard, and has a beautiful attached back deck that provided a quiet place to unwind at the end of each day.
If you like biking, the bike trail travels just past the back edge of the wooded property and is easily accessible.
The owner obviously takes great pride in providing a memorable stay for his guests, and even added small details like a nice bottle of locally produced wine and some beer for our enjoyment.
If you can't stand the annoyance of being right in the middle of all the crowds, don't care about being directly ON the beach, and want a relaxing, clean, comfortable house to call home while visiting the Cape, you should give this property a serious look!
This house has everything you could need for a family vacation. Very clean and bright. It has a very large, separate area downstairs for teenagers...like their own cottage! The downstairs area has a large TV room, bathroom and bedroom with queen bed and daybed with trundle. Upstairs, the kitchen was just great and well stocked...with plenty of counter space where everyone could help with meal prep. Wish I had that much space in my kitchen at home. Honestly, I can't think of a thing that we needed. Steve, the owner, was very easy and responsive. Great experience and wonderful vacation!
We found that the house was more than adequate for our needs. Our two small children, two teenage nieces and gramdma found the house to be spacious and enjoyable. The overall house exceeded our expectations. The property was clean and well-maintained. The owner was helpful in answering all of our concerns. We spent time at Earle road beach, we used the bike path and enjoyed the loster bisque soup at Brax restaurant. We are planning to return to the property next year. We definitely recommend this property to a friend or relative.
The pictures on the website accurately reflect this rental home. Our extended family consisted of adult children, siblings and their spouses. We brought our golden retriever and the property was well suited for his needs. We enjoyed morning coffee, and late afternoons sitting on the deck overlooking, a quiet private backyard. The bike trail was conveniently located and we could bike to Harwich or Chatham. We also rode Depot Road to Red River Beach. The well stocked kitchen was roomy and allowed plenty of room for meal prep. This was our first trip to the Cape and enjoyed whale watching with Dolphin Fleet, and ate at the Lobster pot in Provincetown. We shopped in Chatham and visited the peer to see the seals. We had ice cream at the Schoolhouse in Harwich and ordered take out lobster, bisque and steamed clams from Georges Fish Market, that they packed in a styrofoam cooler.
We had great weather and since it was after labor day, no fee parking at the beach, and less crowds.
Just returned from a fabulous week on the Cape with record-breaking temperatures. The house was nice..plenty of room to spread out. Thankfully it has central air, which was certainly appreciated this week! It's close to Red River Beach, which was just ok. We prefer the beaches on the North Side of the Cape, particularly Corporation Beach. We appreciated the close proximity to the Bike Path (right behind the house), with access at the end of the street.
We ate at Chapin's in Dennis, Brax (twice), Land Ho, Jake Rooney's, Kreme 'n Cone, Krista K's, Sundae School and School House. No lack of access to places to eat. We also cooked in a couple of nights. The kitchen is well-equipped and so is the dining area and adjacent deck.
The house is immaculate and we appreciated that linens are provided. We could not ask for a thing. Lauren and Steve have created a comfortable rental house, one that we intend to book again next year!
Highly recommend this house!
