This is our family four-season home and carriage house, with water sports and fishing in the summer, and sledding and ice skating in the winter. Our neighbors are full time residents and the neighborhood is a family environment. If you are looking for a rental to party with all of your friends then this is not the place to be.
This lakefront cottage sits on 130 feet of an expansive lakefront view, facing the west, on beautiful lake. Private beach, no weeds, plenty of sand, with a zero-entry into the lake making it great for the entire family. There are no cottages on the west side of the lake, allowing spectacular sunset views from the cottage’s 2000 sq ft multi-level deck/balcony.
Lake Lavine: At 87 acres, the lake is just the right size for water sports, yet not too busy for all the great fishing the lake has to offer. The lake is spring-fed, with crystal-clear water 80 feet deep in the middle. There is a sandy zero-entry beach, allowing kids to safely swim, or fish, and the all-sports lake allows wake from 10 – 6:30 p.m. everyday. (Great for those wanting to fish or sleep in.)
A 80-foot dock with 9 x 12 deck on the lake provides plenty of room for fishing or catching some sun. The dock gives ample room for tying boats, pontoon or jet ski if you have your own or wish to rent one from a nearby marina. A Free public boat launch is available. Boat rentals available in the area. We also have a 13' Rave water trampoline to swim to jump around or just relax and catch some rays.
In the winter, guests can ice fish, ice skate, sled down our hill, cross-country ski or use the toboggan run at Pokagon State Park 3 miles away.
The cottage sits directly in front of Lake Lavine’s most popular fishing spots. Blue Gill, Yellow Perch, Large Mouth Bass, Crappie, Rainbow Trout are plentiful.
Outdoors: The dual-platform deck and screen porch provides plenty of room for outdoor dining and grilling and expansive views of the water and wildlife, including Blue Herons, Swans, Ducks and Geese. Enjoy the light breeze in the shade of the beautiful large oak trees that surround the deck, or sun yourself on the dock while watching the kids play in the sandy bottom zero-entry beach. The deck holds a large charcoal grill, and a wrought iron dining table that can seat six, with 6 additional Adirondack chairs and a picnic table. A screened porch is furnished with a cushioned outdoor patio set.
The 130 feet of lakefront includes a large grass yard, with a fire pit, directly in front of the lake, and a large grass area in back, providing enough room for volleyball or baseball games.
The undeveloped shoreline areas are predominantly wooded with buttonbush, red-osier dogwood, oak trees and red maple trees that house Eagles, Herons and Owls. The terrain surrounding Lake Lavine is gently rolling woodlands, farm fields.
The Cottage: Inside the cottage, the open floor plan with large windoews provides beautiful views of the water from the kitchen, living room and dining room. The main living area (2 sofas and 2 swivel chairs) and dining room (can seat up to 8) have large wall-to-wall windows that over look the lake. Two bedrooms (one queen-sized and one full-sized bed) are located on the main level. The lower level holds the third bedroom, (queen-sized bed) plus four bunkbeds in the fourth bedroom with wrap-around views of the water. The kitchen includes gas stove, dishwasher and refrigerator. Washer and dryer are located in the basement. The bathroom, on the main floor, includes a shower.
The carriage house connects from the deck (about 40 ft away)
which is an open floor plan. There are 3 full sized beds, a sofa and several easy chairs. Contains a refrigerator and full bathroom (shower).

I grew up coming to this lake.
It's been described as 'a slice of heaven' because of the quiet setting and views of the lake
Our family of six adults and seven grown grandchildren had a wonderful, relaxing vacation at this home. The owners were very helpful with all my questions. The house was clean and the grandchildren enjoyed staying in the guest house. We used the deck a lot since it is so large. We rented a pontoon boat and really enjoyed the lake and the trampoline. The water is so clear and there is not much traffic on the lake, so it was a lot of fun.
Grandpa and Grandma, 3 children and 7 grandchildren just enjoyed a wonderful week at Lake Lavine. The lake is clean, easy entry for little ones and a constant source of entertainment. The water trampoline only adds to the fun. We lived out on the large deck, ate all our meals out there and also enjoyed the sun porch. We traveled to Shipshewana, went blueberry picking, golfed and had a wonderful family week together. Any questions we might have had were immediately answered by Dave or his wife. The yard is large, the tree house was a hit and our 7 grandchildren ages 9 to 18 months all totally enjoyed themselves, as did their parents. That lake is a little bit of heaven!!
It was exactly as the owners describe,"a bit of Heaven". Being a family with 6 adults and two little ones this place was perfect for us. The cottage and carriage houses were very clean with adequate supplies of staples in both, It was really nice having two refridgerators since we used one for food and one for drinks. The lake is small but still we had fun with the fishing boat and our rented pontoon. One of the nicest features was the large deck connecting all the bulidings and the screened in porch. We would definitely go back! Its so close to the State of Indiana so we could also do some nice sighseeing at the Pokagon State Park.
We have stayed her the last two summers and have had a blast. The views of the lake are breathtaking. The expansive deck provides a wonderful summertime outdoor living space. Sunsets from the end of the dock are fantastic. Perfect lake for families, fishermen and water sports enthusiasts. Not too big to be crowded but big enough to have fun. The lakeside firepit was the perfect place for family campfires and marshmallow roasting. Great family getaway!
