We are a family of four currently living in California. So why Rhode Island? I spent my summers in Middletown/Newport as a child and for the last 18 years my family has been vacationing there. We can't think of a more beautiful place to be in the summertime. Our children are 16 and 19 and they love the large open back yard and street for playing. Our kid's love the beach, surfing and all the other water activities that Rhode Island offers. We intend to use the house for a few weeks every summer and hopefully spend all our summers here when we retire.
Jennifer Lax or Stephen Lax purchased this house in 2010
This was our second year renting this house. We returned for the peaceful and convenient location. The owners and property managers are very responsive, friendly and helpful. The house has fulfilled all our vacation needs. It's close to the beaches, got enough space to eat and play, and the quietness for getting a good rest.
We spent two weeks at this home. Our second year. It is near the beaches and on a quiet street. The new gas grill was a nice addition as we cooked outside every night. The lawn was mowed twice and the shrubs pruned once so the property looks very well kept. The owners and property mangers were responsive to any questions. Perfect spot for any family with animals.
SUCH a great house for our family....clean, close to everywhere we wanted to go...we only wish we could have stayed longer! The property manager and owner made sure we had everything we needed.
We had a fantastic time and miss being here so much. The owner and property managers were so thoughtful and took such good care of us during our extended stay. This place is a perfect retreat for anyone looking to enjoy quick access to the best of Rhode Island from an intimate, private location. My wife and I and our two baby girls enjoyed strolls around the neighborhood, when we'd always see and hear the birds from nearby Norman Bird Sanctuary. We'd often see bluejays and cardinals - what a treat! The house faces east, so you can see the sunrise over the beautiful property across the street and the gorgeous sunset from the magnificent backyard. Inside, the house is extremely comfortable. There's plenty of seating in the dining room, as well as a bit more seating in an eat-in kitchen. We'd often have friends and family visit from nearby and we had fantastic times in all the space the house has to offer. The neighbors were always warm and friendly. Inside the house the owner had great leads on local hotspots in the form of a tall mural listing spots his family would enjoy. Whenever we wondered what to do around town, we'd often check that mural for inspiration. Nearby, we'd often grab ice cream from Frosty Freez or take the girls to Sweet Berry Farms and a very toddler friendly Howland Park. Third Beach is super close, and Downtown Newport is a quick drive or even better: quick uber. We really loved it here and made some very precious memories. We can't wait to return.
We had a fabulous time at this house for two weeks. It has a huge and private back yard and has little or no traffic so is perfect for children and animals. The neighbors waved to us whenever we drove by and one brought over tomatoes when we were having dinner outside one night. The ceiling fans are a godsend in the hot weather making the house very pleasant. The kitchen is very well equipped to make everything from omelets to a clam bake. Pretty dishes and glassware make serving meals fun. The sheets were so smooth and soft I could not wait to go to bed at night. There are plenty of towels for the bathrooms and the beach.
The owners were so accommodating and agreeable, as were the managers. We hope to be back again and again.
We had a great time and nothing about the house was remiss! It was perfect for our needs. The location is great for accessing the beaches. The cul-de-sac was a hit with our boys who have just learned to bike. The quietness of the neighborhood was very therapeutic.
