Overview

About the property

Condominium, Spacious one bedroom + two pull-out sofabeds, one Bath, sleeps 2-4)

The beautifully landscaped grounds of Poipu Kai Resort start at Brennecke's Beach, Kauai's top bodysurfing and boogie boarding beach. Next door to Brennecke's is the world famous Poipu Beach. A short walk in the opposite direction is Shipwreck Beach, where the Grand Hyatt is located. You can enjoy the amenities of a world class tropical hotel. Strolling back home from the beach through a beautiful greenbelt, you are greeted by majestic mountain views and a welcoming swimming pool. You are close to everything but can be at peace in the garden setting of our one bedroom with ample built-ins and with two pull-out sofas. At night you can still hear the surf. You are on the ground floor, so you can relax on the lanai or grass. Play tennis or go to the jacuzzi at Poipu Kai. You may not want to use your car at all. Just park it in our flower covered carport next to our unit.

Your rental fee also includes the owner's 'Insider's Guide'. The Insider's Guide has information that is not listed in the tour guide books; like information where the locals buy food, rent autos, when and were to golf, and where is the best side to sit in the plane when you are arriving and leaving.

Restaurant on the premises, and several other restaurants in 5 to 10 minute walking distance, including several at the Grand Hyatt.

Perfect for smaller families with children, retirees escaping the northern winters, or honeymooners!

This is a very spacious one bedroom condominium located in beautifully landscaped 70-acre grounds just across from Brennecke's beach. Poipu Kai is a luxury development, stretching from Poipu to Shipwreck Beaches, with a huge greenbelt, lush tropical landscaping, garden paths, pools, and tennis courts. Our unit is a short walk down the garden path to beaches, Grand Hyatt, shopping, restaurants; it is a large, nicely furnished cozy and ground floor unit with rear lanai/patio and garden. Aloha!

About poipubeachkauai@yahoo.com

This is a privately owned unit used primarily for family and friends. We'll share it with you when it is available! We've kept it for over 30 years because Poipu Beach is a very special place, one of the best beach resorts in the world.

poipubeachkauai@yahoo.com purchased this condo in 1981

Why poipubeachkauai@yahoo.com chose Poipu

The original owner, a family friend, traveled all over the Pacific and chose Poipu because he knew that Kauai was the best location in the Pacific, and Poipu the best on Kauai. He also personally knew the developer, who kept several units for his own family, who own two units to this day. The first building was developed as a family compound. Manualoha is the least dense development in Poipu Kai; the buildings look more like homes than condominiums and are low rise, one to three stories. We chose a one bedroom on the ground floor for accessibility. Unlike some other properties that are on rocky ground, Poipu Kai is a spacious and lush resort.

What makes this condo unique

We enjoy the privacy, peacefulness and the spacious feeling of our unit. We love the pool, with a gorgeous view of Brennecke's Beach. And we love walking to the Hyatt to have lattes at the Seaview Lounge in the mornig, or sushi and martinis at Stevenson's Bar in the evening. We enjoy Hyatt luxury at a much lower price and with more privacy! For the adventurous outdoor types, Kauai has everything from kite surfing to kyaking to hiking the canyons. Kauai has some of the world's most beautiful beaches and best climates: it's never too hot or humid because of the refreshing trade winds that blow ashore. The water is clear blue, and warm. You can choose a beach with surf or calm waters. The snorkeling is sensational. We include our personal insider's guide to Kauai culled together over 30 years of traveling to Kauai.

We provide basic soaps, paper goods, and toiletries, but you may want to purchase more. We provide a Keurig coffee machine, with starter coffees. We provide our personal insider's guide to Kauai, including a section on Kauai's great golf courses for all levels. Poipu Kai is a low density, luxury development. The unit has only had two owners, and is used primarily by family and friends who take excellent care of the property. Tropical artwork was collected over a long period of family visits. Depending on how the hedges and trees are trimmed, one might get a peek-a-boo ocean view over the rooftops, from the lanai. We speak English, Spanish and French.

Clean, well appointed condo

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay! The condo was clean and had everything we needed for our time on the south end of the island. The private lanai was very relaxing in the mornings and late evening. The bed was comfy and air moved very well throughout with the sliding screen door and fans. Good quality Beach chairs and everything else for a day of play was provided. The Ultimate Guide book for Kauai was available in the condo, which pointed out options we would have never found! Thank you Francine for such sharing such a nice place.

Super clean and convenient location. The condo has everything you will need!

  • 5 of 5

The condo was perfect. It was super clean and had everything we needed. The homeowners were truly mindful of everything their guests would need. Super nice pool, and even more convenient location. The only thing I will say is that the AC is just a little unit, that does not come "installed." Luckily, my hubby is a licensed general contractor and was able to make it work. The ac unit, although small, will still cool the place up. My family and I will be coming back to Kauai for sure, and without a doubt, will be returning to this condo.

Great location, wonderful well appointed condominium, great value

  • 5 of 5

This condo is just wonderful. A great value. Lanai is private...with great seating.,,we had dinner outside every night. Sheets and towels are super soft. Location is great...a short walk to a fabulous semi-private pool and just beyond that, Brennecke's and Poipu. My favorite is lattes at the Grand Hyatt Seaview Bar in the morning, a ten minute walk.

What a great value at Manualoha!

Really nice place. The pool was great! Brennicks down the street was great! No ac as stated. Sprinkler went off right by bedroom window at 2am and would wake us up.

Owner's Response: First, we are happy you enjoyed Brennecke's! Regarding a/c...we have wonderful ceiling fans in every room. (If you put the cursor on a/c the explanation on VRBO details this and they are in all the photographs as well.) The fans are terrific and a perfect compliment in Hawaii's climate. We do have a portable air conditioner for the bedroom that we keep at our on-island caretaker's home for use if you request it. Most of the year, a/c should not be an issue at all because Hawaii is sub-tropical and not too hot. At any time of year, a/c is much much less necessary -- foremost in the evenings -- than some advertisers lead you to believe. Hawaii has great trade winds even when it is hot -- and Manualoha is positioned just up a slight elevation and perfect angle from the beach to capitalize on the winds. The newer Poipu Kai condo developments that are farther from the beach -- in the middle of Poipu Kai -- have a/c because they need it more, are not positioned to take advantage of the trade winds and are denser with smaller pools without ocean views. Our condo in particular has a perfect North/East to South/West exposure which takes advantage of the predominant winds. Also note the ceiling fans in every room do a great job with ventilation just like in old movies like Casablanca -- and in addition likely you won't spend time indoors during the day. because Hawaii is an outdoor paradise. Manualoha was developed as a luxury development and the developer kept the first building for his own family -- without a/c. He would have installed it if necessary. Even at the Hyatt its center lobby is open air rather than a/c. Hawaii just has an ideal climate.
