About The Owner

Donna Dell is a retired employment lawyer and former Labor Commissioner of California. Having a love of travel since her early career as an international airline employee, Donna always found herself attracted to northern California's rugged coastline and picturesque hillsides, reminicient of her family's medieval village in southern Italy.

The Owner purchased this chateau / country house in 2011

Why The Owner chose Sonoma County

Having shared my Irish Beach vacation home on the Mendocino coast for more than twenty years with return guests, including many 2nd generations, Carneros seemed the perfect addition. The convenience of its location to San Francisco, Napa and Sonoma, along with the variety of activities available to all ages, prompted me to start looking in the Carneros region about 8 years ago. The moment I finally walked into this house I knew I'd found my Casacalenda!

What makes this chateau / country house unique

Three days in the wine country followed by 3 days overlooking the ocean in beautiful Mendocino County make the perfect California vacation! Please visit VRBO property #275652 to view Donna's Irish Beach vacation rental.

Great week with friends!

  • 5 of 5

Charming home with lovely amenities. Donna has really paid attention to detail! Lovely bottle of wine to welcome us and start the week off right! Kitchen is well-stocked, bathrooms are nicely appointed and have been well updated, and furnishings are very comfortable. Good sound system, and we enjoyed the self-starting fireplace, and the outdoor grill, too. Enjoyed walking through the neighborhood, and town is very close. One suggestion-new pillows are needed, but everything else was great. We'll definitely come back!

Great House and Location for Sonoma and Napa Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We went with another couple and it was perfect. Good separation of spaces. Very well kept and clean. Even better than the pictures. It would be great for families with kids too - maybe next time we'all bring the kids - or not :-)

Very comfortable house for touring wine country

  • 5 of 5

My husband, our adult daughter, and I stayed here for a few days in March. It's a beautifully maintained home in a quiet neighborhood not too far from the center of town. The two bedrooms were most comfortable. After touring, we loved sitting out in the private back yard in the afternoon and in the hot tub on cool evenings. The kitchen and the dining room were well equipped for eating in, and we enjoyed local restaurants as well. Our wine tour ended up being a private tour (as it was somewhat off season) and our guide picked us up and dropped us off at the house; so convenient! The cable service at the house does not support streaming from one's computer, but the owner provided many DVDs to choose from. Unfortunately during our stay, the wi-fi wasn't working so we had to go to a cafe to access our email. Nevertheless, we had a lovely time and would stay there again. Highly recommended.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind review! After much back and forth with the internet provider they finally sent someone out who determined that the foliage on a tree was obstructing the satellite reception, so they moved the dish and all is back to normal! Thank you for your patience - Donna

Super Charming

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriends and I went up for a few days for a girlfriends/wine weekend and really enjoyed our stay at this Sonoma oasis. The home was welcoming and Donna left a bottle of wine for us to start the weekend right! We spent most of our time outside on the patio (super pleasant) -- the weather was perfect and the hammock outside was extremely comfortable. The hot tub was the perfect end to the day. The property is well maintained and inviting. I highly recommend this rental and look forward to returning very soon!

So nice and relaxing :)

  • 5 of 5

I booked this house for 2 nights to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday. This house was great to come back to after a long day of wine tasting and shopping. It's private and quiet with everything you need. You can tell the owner is very thoughtful and accommodating. A welcoming bottle of wine (which was delicious) was waiting for us when we arrived.

Cuter, sweeter and nicer than described!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I traveled with another couple to spend a weekend in Napa. We were looking for something quiet and homey for a little rest and relaxation. What a wonderful home! We had an amazing weekend and were just a short drive from so many vineyards and wineries. I enjoyed a serene walk every morning (while the others slept!), we all enjoyed the hot tub and cooking meals together, and we loved the farm life surrounding us. We would highly recommend to anyone looking for a charming experience in wine country.
