A place to remember...
There are few places that will have the memories this house help make for me and my family. We had a wonderful time at this marvelous home. The house was surprisingly clean given its massive size and architecture. The house has a few quirks but nothing we couldn't get working after a little problem solving.
The pools is well maintained and clean. There are heavy winds and nature in the area surrounding the pool, so obviously there will be small bugs and leaves that may get trapped in the water but a skimmer is readily available should this become an issue. The biggest problem was the pool lights did not turn on.
The road to the house is a bit rough. If you don't have all wheel drive, or a utility vehicle, just take it slow and easy and any car will be able to get you there.
The sunsets are nothing short of spectacular and can be enjoyed from the media room on the second floor where there are ample outside spaces to enjoy the sweeping views.
The downstairs bar has a temperature controlled wine fridge and the gym has weights and cardio equipment with its own separate climate control for those who like it cooler while they exercise.
The theatre has a huge screen where you can watch TV or a DVD with booming surround sound.
Theres plenty of outside room to sit and dine that is protected from the sun and wind as well as large inside dining spaces. The garage is open and clean such that if you so chose you can park in a protected enclosed space. The landscaping has beautiful palms and plants that are healthy and add to the beauty of the home.
The kitchenware is useful and you will find some extra very useful items in the utility closet next to the kitchen. There is plenty of great quality stemware for white, red and sparking wine. The cookware is fine, but not from the catalogs of Sur La Table. I think after seeing the grandeur of the house, one's expectations of the kitchen equipment become very high.
The Wi-Fi is strong throughout the house, we had no dead zones, it stood up to the same demand a family of 6 would demand at home.
The skies at night were amazing. Make sure to take a walk on the road after the sun goes down and enjoy the stargazing that getting away from the light pollution allows. What an amazing place, we only wish we had more time.
Viva New Mexico!
Beautiful house and location
The house is amazing and the location is gorgeous- very peaceful. The house was very clean. Greg, the contact, was very responsive. Two things to be aware of if you are thinking about renting: 1) There is a HUGE wasp problem by the pool; they are everywhere! Also TONS of flies by the pool, but they did not bother us that much. 2) The hot tub is on its last leg. It was not working, so we contacted Greg, who got service people out the next day. I spoke with the service men, and they said they are out there all the time replacing parts and fixing the hot tub. They finally got it working around noon on our last day, and then about 3 hours later, it stopped heating again. If you are fine with not using the pool and hot tub very much (if at all), I highly recommend this house.
Beautiful house and property.
We loved the home and its location. It's even more beautiful in person than in the photos. The main reason why we rented the home was for the private pool and hot tub -- the pool was dirty and neither the pool or the hot tub would heat. They both were SO.. freezing cold they couldn't be used. We nicknamed the hot-tub the Not-Tube -- as it was only about 59 degrees. We could only get one of the fireplaces to work. The Jack-in-Jill bathtub wouldn't hold water, so the bath was only ankle deep. Also, the half-bath toilet wouldn't flush without removing the top and pulling the chain from the inside. For the price, we were disappointed to say the least that we didn't have use of the pool and spa.
This house is truly a work of art. The tile work is especially beautiful. We enjoy hiking and were able to walk out the back door and go for miles in the Organ mountains. The pool looked nice, but we stayed in January.
There are issues however. When we arrived, I tried to contact someone. The lady's phone number is international. I called the other numbers and got an answering machine. No one ever returned the call. I emailed with no response. The website says Tuscan Villas is permanently closed. I own several buildings and a rental company so am able to take care of anything and you should be similarly prepared. Since I couldn't reach the owners, here is a partial list of issues.
A freeze less hydrant by the pool equipment is attached to a fill float valve at the pool. This started to squeal VERY loudly at 3 AM. Didn't find the cause until the next day so we moved to different bedroom. Multiple light bulbs are burned out. We arrived late and I suggest bringing a flashlight. The house is not clean. I would have to wipe off my feet outside the sheets so the grit was not inside the sheets after walking barefoot in the master bath. There is no garage door opener and no door anywhere near the garage and a very dark path to the front door.. The very nice Viking gas range hadn't been cleaned in a long time and the vent hood was worse. The half bath toilet requires a special touch or it runs all of the time. Only 2 of the 6 gas fireplaces work. It was cold when we were there and some heat in the master bath would have been appreciated. The kitchen water dispenser and ice maker do not work. This house is 11 miles from the nearest place to buy ice or milk. The last mile of the road is the worst road I have ever seen to a home. We drove a rented SUV. If you have a nice car, don't take it to the house. If a repair and cleaning crew were sent to take care of things, we would love to stay again.
Rocky road to true beauty! The home was massive with great design features and surprise bonus rooms. Best sunrise views, quiet and unique. Only complaint was the very cookware was cheap needed updated pots, pans & silverware. Would we return - Yes!
Great gateway home. Next to nature. Calming and soothing environment.
