NO STAIRS, you walk straight in from Parking area (with your own designated parking space) and without having to drag your luggage and Groceries up and down stairs plus a wheelchair can roll on in with limitations inside of the condo and it has 1200 sq ft with a 30’ Private Lanai over looking the 8th Green Beach Course of the Kona Country Club and the blue Pacific Ocean. Our grounds are meticulously maintained. The home is a ‘split design’ with the each bedroom on opposite sides and the living room in the middle. Great for privacy.

And enjoy great family entertainment at the Keauhou Cinemas, grocery shop at KTA’s Grocery store and Pharmacy and Longs Drugs, stamps and mail your letters and packages at U.S. Post office, banking at Bank of Hawaii, and a separate ATM outside KTA, for medical use Urgent Care / Medical Clinic and to fill up your gas tank the gas station is up on the corner. Kealakekua Bay Marine Sanctuary at Captain Cook is renowned for some of the best snorkeling and diving and kayaking with a large variety of colorful sea life and sea turtles. Just 14 miles s south on Kuakini- Hawaii Belt Road - HI 11. And for experienced scuba divers, check out night diving with the spectacular Manta Rays through Hula Kai/Fairwind and Mata Ray excursions.. Or be a spectator at the Manta Ray Show at the Sheraton Bay Resort & Spa which is right around the corner.
A side note. There are many many other excursions like driving down to Volcano National Park, Helicopter rides around the craters and lava flow and Para-sailing in the Kailua-Kona pier.

I just wanted to let you know what a wonderful stay we had at the Keauhou Punahele condo.
It was absolutely wonderful and we felt so comfortable. One of our greatest vacations and we
have been coming to the island for over 20 years.
We left the condo in excellent shape.
Just a note. We did not use the grill at all. We are used to and prefer a gas grill so went to the park
when we wanted to grill. (we noticed the grill was not real clean, but didnt want you to think we left
It that way)
Certainly hope to work with you again on a rental property. If you could let me know if you have other
properties in Kona also, in case the one at Punahele is not available that would be great.

We had a lovely stay. Of primary importance to us was the lanai and the pool. Both were as expected. We had almost all of our meals on the lanai. It is large and spacious with a nice view of the pacific in the distance. Lanais are crucial for island living and give a sense of space as well as being able to eat or just sit and enjoy the scenery. Crucially the lanai faced west so there was always a lovely sunset and no direct sun until after 5. The pool was large enough to swim laps and was often deserted. We also wanted a hot tub since my wife was nursing a sprained ankle. This also was large and almost always deserted.
The apartment itself is well-represented in the photos and we were quite comfortable. The kitchen is large, u-shaped and 2 people can prepare food at the same time easily. We would certainly be willing to rent again. Wi-Fi and internet connection were rock solid.
The condo is roomy, with a large kitchen area full of modern well working appliances. In unit washer and dryer are great, as well as the bathroom facilities being good too. The shower in the master bathroom is exceptionally nice, a large glass wall type shower that is perfect for one or two to enjoy.
These condos have large lanais (decks) and this unit has plenty of nice furniture out there to spend your time on. The lanai faces the ocean, which is pretty much blocked by trees and other condo complexes closer to the water, but you can still see the water and enjoy the sights. It's very pretty, looking out over a path which leads to the pool and then you see a well maintained golf course.
The pool is great, large enough for adults who want a little exercise to swim back and forth in, but not so big if you're watching multiple children that you feel you cant get to them to help if they need it. The hot tub is nice as well, a good size to fit 6-8 people comfortably. It did have problems one of the days of our stay and wasnt very hot, but they sent maintenance over to fix it and by the next evening it was hot again.
It's a bridge unit, so when you make a Costco run (huge double door fridge makes this possible) you can go straight across from the parking lot to the unit. My brother's family had a ground floor unit which means you have to walk up and down a flight of stairs every time. Yes, ground floor is nice, but for us we appreciated having a parking lot level unit, plus your view of the ocean and surrounding area is much better from the second floor.
Our only complaint? At least at the time of this review, the grill on the lanai, which is something we use almost daily while in Hawaii, is a small electric grill. Sized for two people, but the other issue is the cord is 6 feet long and there are no outlets on the deck, so we ended up never even using it. I like flame seared meat, not electric. My brothers unit had a large gas grill, as well as our friends who stayed next door, so when we cooked up our ahi or steaks we just used one of their grills and had dinner together. It's just something to be aware of, and if this matters to you, check with the owner before booking, it may very well be updated to a gas grill by the time you're reading this.
Gayle was good to deal with before the visit and during, that was a nice plus. Our family of 4, two adults and two children, would HAPPILY stay in this condo again.
We really loved this condo. Beautiful view of the ocean and the mountains. The lanai is wonderful and you also have a golf course behind you. It was excellent. It was our first time using VRBO so we weren't sure what to expect, but it was an excellent experience. I would definitely recommend it. I am disabled and cannot use stairs. This unit is a bridge unit, so even though it is on the second floor, you have no stairs. Fabulous. Also, it has full size washer and dryer. Excellent, too.
I'm so glad that we "lucked out" in finding such a perfect condo to stay in for 3 weeks in/on Hawaii! I was a little worried about VBRO in the beginning; it seemed so sketchy to be trying to contact lots of individual owners, balancing dates, requirements & preferences, etc, all at the same time and coming up with what might be the best option for us. (I still think it is. Wish there were a better, more centralized system.) But in the end, all I can say is that we were lucky, and I am very grateful that this was a great place and all worked out well. Gayle was very easy to work with.
The unit has absolutely everything a family could need -- lots of dishes & cookware (in a BIG kitchen!), 3 TVs, sports & beach gear, pretty & comfortable furniture. AND -- that lanai!! It really is as huge as advertised, with good furniture and a nice view (over the tops of about a zillion palm trees) to the ocean.
We liked the location in Kaeuhou, although we did have to drive everywhere. We found that it's about 90-100 miles to Hilo, Kilauea, and Mauna Loa (LONG trips if you do it in one day and return). But we also took many other excursions to places closer such as Kona, Holualoa, small beaches & bays , Hawi/Kawahae and historical sites along the west coast.
If you are an active bunch, this is a great home base. If you want to be more quiet and just laze away the days in warm sunshine & not do much, just stock up with the fresh food you like & you'll be very comfortable here. It's not a hotel here -- no one does the dishes for you -- but we think it's much better!
Love staying at Keauhou Punahele! This unit is very comfortable and the view is awesome. Overall a great place.

This condo is very modern and very comfortable. The kitchen is probably very recently remodeled with very nice cabinets, countertops, and appliances. The kitchen is fully stocked with just about anything you'd need in terms of cookware if you prefer to eat in like we do. The overall feel is spacious, and even though it does not have A/C it maintains a very comfortable temperature with the ceiling fans going. The ground level entry is ideal for easy access--no stairs to haul in groceries, beach chairs, etc.
The lanai and view are spectacular. The Keauhou Punahele complex is very nice, probably one of the more modern in the area--and very quiet since it is at the south end of Ali'i Drive and so does not get the same amount of adjacent traffic as units even a little bit further north. We personally love the Keauhou area due to proximity to the shopping center and its quiet locale. The only negative about this complex is that there is only one pool and hot tub (some other (larger) complexes have more) and so as a result the pool and hot tub can get a little crowded. This is not really an issue for us as we have far more interests in Kona than laying by the pool.
The property manager, Gayle, is extremely responsive and very easy to work with.
