Overview

About the property

Cabin, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

Our charming 1 bedroom guesthouse is just a 5 minute walk from 'beautiful' Playa Hermosa, Guanacaste, on the first entrance road. It has a spacious feeling for a small casita, with vaulted wood panel ceiling and bi-level room separation of 2 stone steps up from the living room to the kitchen and bedroom. There are lovely wooden interior doors and molding with smoked glass Balinesian sliding doors to the bedroom.

We are situated next door to a lovely, small boutique hotel which offers fine and relaxed dining and live music several times a week during high season. We are walking distance from 5 beachfront restaurants, 6 off beach restaurants, a grocery store with small pharmacy, and one souvenir shop.

Playa Hermosa is located in a large bay and has gentle waves which is perfect for swimming and safe for children's play. The sand is firm and popular for jogging and walking. From our beach you can arrange sunset cruises, fishing trips, Diving tours, snorkling tours and jet skis.

We are a perfect place to relax at the beach without a car, and with a rental car, a great base camp for exploring the Rincon de la Vieja National Park, and Palo Verde National (Wetlands) Park. We are a 3 1/2 hour drive from the Arenal Volcano, and 1 hour from Tamarindo and Playa Grande, famous for surfing. We are close to three zip line attractions, and the Papagayo Marina.

Although we live next door to the guesthouse, and the Specialty Hotel, it affords privacy and security without a "gated community" feeling.

About Nan Clark

My husband and I moved to Costa Rica for the quiet lifestyle, wonderful perpetual summer weather, to learn Spanish and to open an art studio. We now teach several children's art classes and occasional adult art classes. This has been our retirement dream come true.

Nan Clark purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Nan Clark chose Guanacaste

We love the beauty and quiet of this beach community, as well as the excellent amenities.

Restful and fun!

  • 5 of 5

Not only was this little cottage adorable, but Nan and Paul were terrific hosts! We now have new friends for life! Cottage is clean and neat with everything you need. A short walk to a fabulous beach and 2 lovely hotels with restaurants. We loved the laid back and safe environment of Playa Hermosa. Could not have been any better!

PERFECTION

  • 5 of 5

This casita truly was PERFECTION! My husband and I spent 9 wonderful days on this property nestled in between the Villa del Sueno and the condos the hotel manages. If you are into meeting new people, this area of Playa Hermosa is for you. Our hosts, Nan and Paul were...extremely non-intrusive, but very available for friendly chat, in a pinch transportation, and information on the area. The hotel owners, employees and residents of the condos provided us with hours of entertainment and conversation during our stay. We also took advantage of the pool privileges at the hotel and condos. This is where the residents gather and we feel like we have new friends and family. The casita itself was beautifully decorated with local art and lots of wood. It had everything we could ask for. Kitchen was loaded for cooking our own meals when desired and even had a few spices. The bathroom had plenty of storage for personal items and a tall dresser to store clothing for easy access after showering. The bedroom was roomy with lots of storage...queen bed was very comfortable. With air conditioning in the main room and 3 modern fans in the bedroom, we were never uncomfortable. We loved walking to the restaurants on the beach as well as up the street. If you can't walk more than 15-20 minutes in the heat, you might need a car. If your are someone who enjoys all inclusive, concierge service, maid service, not having to cook, this place is not for you...more availability for those of us who enjoy the simpler things in life. Pura Vida!

Charming Casita!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed for 6 weeks; we could not have found a better place to stay anywhere in Costa Rica. We can not say enough nice things about Nan and Paul the owners or thank them enough for all they did for us during our stay. They are truly an amazing couple and took us to neighboring villages shopping and on excursions to take pictures. Nan even drove me to her dentist when I got a tooth ache. The location is amazing only a 5 min walk to the beach and several restaurants close by. I hope we can return next year. Forgot to mention the area has all kinds of birds and monkeys etc. The yard is private with lots of trees etc native of Costa Rica. You will not be disappointed with this Casita it has it all!

Charming little place!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed for 2 weeks in June and were so pleased with this little gem in Playa Hermosa. It comes fully stocked with everything, just pick up groceries on the way in and you're all set. It was such a pleasure to meet Nan & Paul (owners). They were so helpful with everything possible (knowledge of the area, rides to town, places to eat, etc.) They were even gracious enough to invite us up to a sunset dinner with them above town which was breathtaking! Located a short 5 min walk to the beach, 15 min walk to a great pizza place and places to enjoy cocktails. So look forward to returning again.

Just what we were looking for!

  • 5 of 5

Amazing Casita all to ourselves with cute little patio and yard and only 5 min from beach ..and everytjing we needed inside including a/c.. and with owners next door (but separate) in their Casita you have the privacy of your own place and benefit of a local friendly couple who can answer your questions. We stopped here for 3 days enroute to rainforest and look forward to returning for more sun and relaxation for a few days before going home.
