Charming 1 Bedroom Guesthouse

Bedrooms 1
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 nights

Minimum Stay
2 nights

About the property

Cabin, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

Our charming 1 bedroom guesthouse is just a 5 minute walk from 'beautiful' Playa Hermosa, Guanacaste, on the first entrance road. It has a spacious feeling for a small casita, with vaulted wood panel ceiling and bi-level room separation of 2 stone steps up from the living room to the kitchen and bedroom. There are lovely wooden interior doors and molding with smoked glass Balinesian sliding doors to the bedroom.

We are situated next door to a lovely, small boutique hotel which offers fine and relaxed dining and live music several times a week during high season. We are walking distance from 5 beachfront restaurants, 6 off beach restaurants, a grocery store with small pharmacy, and one souvenir shop.

Playa Hermosa is located in a large bay and has gentle waves which is perfect for swimming and safe for children's play. The sand is firm and popular for jogging and walking. From our beach you can arrange sunset cruises, fishing trips, Diving tours, snorkling tours and jet skis.

We are a perfect place to relax at the beach without a car, and with a rental car, a great base camp for exploring the Rincon de la Vieja National Park, and Palo Verde National (Wetlands) Park. We are a 3 1/2 hour drive from the Arenal Volcano, and 1 hour from Tamarindo and Playa Grande, famous for surfing. We are close to three zip line attractions, and the Papagayo Marina.

Although we live next door to the guesthouse, and the Specialty Hotel, it affords privacy and security without a "gated community" feeling.

About Nan Clark

My husband and I moved to Costa Rica for the quiet lifestyle, wonderful perpetual summer weather, to learn Spanish and to open an art studio. We now teach several children's art classes and occasional adult art classes. This has been our retirement dream come true.

Nan Clark purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Nan Clark chose Guanacaste

We love the beauty and quiet of this beach community, as well as the excellent amenities.

Charming little place!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed for 2 weeks in June and were so pleased with this little gem in Playa Hermosa. It comes fully stocked with everything, just pick up groceries on the way in and you're all set. It was such a pleasure to meet Nan & Paul (owners). They were so helpful with everything possible (knowledge of the area, rides to town, places to eat, etc.) They were even gracious enough to invite us up to a sunset dinner with them above town which was breathtaking! Located a short 5 min walk to the beach, 15 min walk to a great pizza place and places to enjoy cocktails. So look forward to returning again.

Just what we were looking for!

  • 5 of 5

Amazing Casita all to ourselves with cute little patio and yard and only 5 min from beach ..and everytjing we needed inside including a/c.. and with owners next door (but separate) in their Casita you have the privacy of your own place and benefit of a local friendly couple who can answer your questions. We stopped here for 3 days enroute to rainforest and look forward to returning for more sun and relaxation for a few days before going home.

Fabulous Casita

  • 5 of 5

We were lucky enough to stay in this fabulous casita for a month. It is super clean, comfortable, within a short walking distance to the beach and a 10 minute walking distance to beachside restaurants and the small town of Playa Hermosa with shopping, an ATM machine, a movie theatre and other amenities. It was very well equipped and the owners, Paul and Nan, were wonderful...they made us feel at home and provided transportation and information with a smile; they made us feel like family. We would recommend this casita to everybody! Thanks, Nan and Paul for making these snowbirds feel welcomed. Pura Vida!!

Superb casita with great amenities, superb location, and very friendly and helpful hosts

  • 5 of 5

I stayed in this casita for nine days in December, 2015. First, I have to commend both Paul and Nan for making me feel so welcome and so informed about the location and home. I love Playa Hermosa, and this casita is a great place to stay -- clean, roomy, quiet, with very comfortable furniture and all the items you might need, plus a washer and dryer. Plus it is a 5 minute walk to the beach. GREAT PLACE, and you shouldn't have any concerns in renting it. Paul and Nan even invited me to a dinner at a friend's home (fresh seafood), went with me to local establishments to hear local bands, and twice took me to the grocery store. In short, they treated me as a friend. I did not need a car, but if you do rent a car, there is parking. This is a great location from which to explore more sites in Costa Rica. Thanks, Paul and Nan. See you again!

Merci Nan. Merci Paul. Gardez-nous une place pour l’an prochain.

Wonderful Place to Stay!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here twice in February (10 days) and March (2 days) had wonderful visits both times at this guesthouse. We are a family of four with two young boys. The home was super clean and well supplied with everything you need. It is only a one bedroom cottage with an additional full size futon/couch so it's cozy for a family of four but very comfortable. Nan and Paul (who live next door) are excellent hosts and very helpful and knowledgable with details about local activities and businesses. The location is in a peaceful spot just a few minutes walk to a gorgeous and very kid friendly beach. Plus wildlife abounds with parrots, howler monkeys and iguanas often making appearances. We did not have a car but there were plenty of local businesses within easy walking distance. You can even arrange awesome snorkel trips directly on the beach (we highly recommend Adolfo). We hope to visit again!
