About Janet Peterson
Janet here, your hostess, and conservation farmer owner/manager (with lots of help) of one little valley of Fairview, North Carolina. Our sing-along slogan is 'Beds, Berries, Trees, Beef and Honey Bees and don't forget the Chickens" which says it all about what you can find on Cloud 9 Farm. These are my many interests and passions which I invite you to share with me as you STEP BACK IN TIME for a visit to a simpler way of life on Cloud 9 Farm.
Janet Peterson purchased this House in 2004
Why Janet Peterson chose Fletcher
I DIDN'T buy this property, it is my family home to share with you. We refurbished the mountain top, retirement Cloud 9 Relaxation Home for families up to 6 and built Heavenly Hideaway Cabin and Silver Lining Cabin for you to spread out in. Both have hot tubs on an open deck under the stars. Just 8 miles from I-40, you can be at the Biltmore Estate, Grove Park Inn, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Chimney Rock, Lake Lure, and the waterfalls of Dupont State Forest in 15 minutes. Quiet and private. Where does the owner live? Florida? Texas? California? Are you kidding me? I live on this beautiful property, too.
What makes this House unique
Asheville is just 15 minutes away for a soiree into town...a delectable meal or a great, day-excursion, especially to the Biltmore Estate, but vacation renters find that they never really have to leave the farm because there is enough to do right here; hiking, enjoying the valley pond area, picking blueberries in July, or just sitting on the huge deck (or in the hot-tub) over-looking the mountains and relaxing. The layout of Cloud 9 is very outside-friendly with sliding glass doors in every room to open with natural light and get that fresh mountain air. Views, views, views! Come see for yourself!

This was probably one of the most unique and fun family vacations we have ever taken! Janet was unbelievably welcoming and included our kids in all the activities like feeding the chickens, getting the eggs, feeding the cows, feeding the honey bees, even getting a flying squirrel out of some feed. There is plenty of hiking and fun on site--we played croquette, paddle boated in the pond, and reached the buzzards roost peak (1 mile straight up!). We traveled short drives for some more mountain hiking and were given recommendations for some amazing views. I think our dog probably had the most fun of everyone and doesn't want to leave. We will most definitely be returning and HIGHLY recommend this to active families with kids and dogs. Thank you so much Janet for an unforgettable experience!!!
It's fun to engage with families if they want to be a true part of the farm for this vacation window of time...and you were able and willing. It was a lot of fun for the girls who were so ripe for adventure like moving chickens in their sleep to a new pen, feeding Maybelle and cow friends apples with a slight-of-hand technique and helping to name the new calves. Looking forward to seeing you in a different season!
Trip to the farm
Clean, comfortable, relaxing property
I can tell by this review you didn't even feel the need to turn on the TV! Good for you!
The house was very comfortable for two families (4 adults and 4 kids). Janet is a wonderful host and went out if her way to make us feel welcome. She gave us a tour of the farm and the kids loved feeding the chickens and the baby cow. The house has everything we needed to prepare meals including dishes, pots and pans, spices, cooking oil, etc. The decor is dated but that didn’t bother us. Ut was clearly visible in the photos so we knew what to expect. The whole experience felt as we were staying at grandma’s house (including the warm welcome we received). We were in Asheville for a family reunion and Janet was very welcoming to the rest of our family (20+ people total) that came for a BBQ and to explore the farm. The farm is very large and has a pond, outdoor game area as well as several hiking trails. We especially enjoyed our 1hr morning hike to the top of the mountain. Thank you for your hospitality and we will definitely be back!
Cloud 9 Relaxation Home is a ranch home built in 1970 but the style is comfortable with large rooms and a wall of glass windows leading out to a new Trex deck. we're glad you noticed that the photos are an accurate representation. And, yes, 20+ people is an easy fit for a visit to our mountain top and valley farm.
Great house lots to do on the farm
I know! Your kids liked feeding the chickens, gathering the eggs and bottle feeding the baby calf. Come back in the summer when they can play around the pond in warmer weather.
Beautiful home on an gorgeous property!
So nice to spend a restful four days here with our college aged daughter who lives in PA and our niece who is teaching in Asheville. The house is beautiful and spotless and the spaces are so well designed and laid out. The deck is gorgeous and the hot tub was perfect. We didn’t even leave the house one rainy day and we all agreed even that was perfect! Our daughter is a busy engineering student and this home was the perfect respite for some well deserved rest and fresh air. The fresh eggs were a nice touch and it’s amazing but you wouldn’t even know the chickens were even on the property.. the house is so quiet! We will definitely be back.
Ahhhhh, you were captured by the Cloud 9 Relaxation experience...a place you never want to leave. We've tried to identify it...maybe the wall of windows in every room giving natural light, maybe the passive solar feature, warming you with sunlight, maybe the long range views and sunsets that relax the soul...
Most renters find Cloud 9 Relaxation Home to be the perfect respite from touring the Biltmore Estate and Chimney Rock Park because it's so close. Bird watching: pileated woodpeckers, red tailed hawks, bluebirds, wild turkeys.
