Yes, it's mid-century architecture (love those ranch style houses)1970-built, BUT with lots of updates, windows, the sunlight always lighting and warming this southwesternly-exposed home (passive solar) in the winter. Such a comfortable, easy home to be in. Walls are opened up to show off the view, no small rooms, new furniture, new fixtures and kitchen appliances, tiled walk-in shower. A tear-drop shaped rock-stamped patio added near the full-house-length deck, makes outside living at Cloud 9 in the mountains an energy experience you won't forget.
What can families do outside on Cloud 9 Farm?
HOT TUB with a view on the deck! Hike the trails to our highest peak: “Buzzard’s Roost”, feed the chickens and cows, enjoy a picnic at Peterson Pond, swim or paddle boat, and watch for birds, wild turkeys and deer, pick in the garden or munch on blueberries in the summer. And, if you want, help with farm chores, too. It's like going back in time to a simpler way of life. No traffic noise, no street lights, no power lines, no neighbors. Quiet.
Wi-Fi, Large Screen TV with DISH network, puzzles and games (board and video), professional size air hockey table, enjoy the views out every room, one step in. Great light for reading your tablet. Plus a library full of books from gardening to wellness. Air conditioned.
By staying on Cloud 9 Farm you are supporting the conservation stewardship of the land and animals. Tours of our best management practices available. About Janet Peterson
Janet here, your hostess, and conservation farmer owner/manager (with lots of help) of one little valley of Fairview, North Carolina. Our sing-along slogan is 'Beds, Berries, Trees, Beef and Honey Bees and don't forget the Chickens" which says it all about what you can find on Cloud 9 Farm. These are my many interests and passions which I invite you to share with me as you STEP BACK IN TIME for a visit to a simpler way of life on Cloud 9 Farm.
Janet Peterson purchased this House in 2004
Why Janet Peterson chose Buncombe County
I DIDN'T buy this property, it is my family home to share with you. We refurbished the mountain top, retirement Cloud 9 Relaxation Home for families up to 6 and built Heavenly Hideaway Cabin and Silver Lining Cabin for you to spread out in. Both have hot tubs on an open deck under the stars. Just 8 miles from I-40, you can be at the Biltmore Estate, Grove Park Inn, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Chimney Rock, Lake Lure, and the waterfalls of Dupont State Forest in 15 minutes. Quiet and private. Where does the owner live? Florida? Texas? California? Are you kidding me? I live on this beautiful property, too.
What makes this House unique
Asheville is just 15 minutes away for a soiree into town...a delectable meal or a great, day-excursion, especially to the Biltmore Estate, but vacation renters find that they never really have to leave the farm because there is enough to do right here; hiking, enjoying the valley pond area, picking blueberries in July, or just sitting on the huge deck (or in the hot-tub) over-looking the mountains and relaxing. The layout of Cloud 9 is very outside-friendly with sliding glass doors in every room to open with natural light and get that fresh mountain air. Views, views, views! Come see for yourself!

A one week reunion with daughter and grandchildren.
Ideal for grandchildren and the farm environment was a great experience for them enhanced by Janet's hospitality and guidance.
The adults too had a great time and enjoyed the informal setting of accommodation and environment. Everything was great!
Cloud 9 for sure
What a wonderful time we had at Cloud 9. The home has EVERYTHING you want...right down to an awesome host, Janet. Janet let us go out with her during her farm chores....what fun. We collected chicken eggs, fed the chickens, fed the turkeys, moved the cows, and even went to collect honey from the bees. It was so peaceful and fun. The home is super comfortable and has amazing views. After touring Asheville...Cloud nine was a great place to wind up the day with family meals on the deck and a soak in the hot tub!!! Thank you soon much Janet. We will be back!
You give a farmer a chuckle..."letting" you help with farm chores. But we DO have farm fun here and if it wasn't so, we'd move to Hawaii!
One of a kind memories and experience for our kids and us as a family
It was like having a mountain to ourselves, yet getting to see and experience a working farm with the most gracious host readily available to help in any way. Our kids couldn't wait to meet Janet at the chickens dinner time every day! I am partial to this town since we have a long history here, but since my family had to sell my grandparents farm..i am ever so grateful to people like Janet for opening their home and farm to us, so that our kids can get a glimpse of the heaven I got to experience as a child. Cloud 9 delivers above and beyond with chickens providing breakfast each morning, blueberries to pick, a fire pit for s'mores, the sweetest cows ever (who love carrots:), fireflies and endless trails to explore. On the practical side, clean, well supplied, close enough( yet far enough) to town.Thank you Janet, for being so gracious and thoughtful, and for giving our kids priceless memories and lessons on a way of life so few get the chance to truly experience. We are so grateful!!
It was fun to hear YOUR stories of growing up on your grandparents' farm close by. The experiences you are giving your children by choosing a "farm" vacation ARE priceless.
PS I was an elementary school teacher for over 30 years and it looks like you noticed!
We stayed at Cloud 9 for a long weekend to celebrate 2 birthdays - my wife and our granddaughter. Cloud 9 was the perfect retreat for relaxing and celebrating. Our 2 year old granddaughter had a wonderful time feeding the chickens, gathering eggs and watching the cattle. Janet was very patient and helpful in showing her how to feed the chickens and gather the eggs each evening. The house is very comfortable and has a nice outdoor dining area which was perfect for our meals. The kitchen has all the necessary utensils for cooking and dining. We had a wonderful time and will definitely return for a longer stay.
THAT"S what we are the best at...providing space for 3 generations of family to enjoy each other. Getting in the house is only one step. Going onto the deck is just flat with a yard for the little ones to play in next to it. And chickens? Yes, watching chickens is better than watching TV! Cloud 9 Relaxation home is on the mountain for views with a valley farm to explore. Glad you made use of all of it!
Tucked away mountain home, and convenient to everything.
A very lovely and secluded property, maintained by great people. Beautiful surroundings at the mountain home that is very comfortable. Janet is a very accommodating host. It's easy to notice they take pride in providing a smooth experience for guest. Perfect for a larger group of people. I plan to go back!
Even though you had a large crowd, you picked up so well that the housekeeping service expressed their appreciation!
We loved our stay! The cabin has all the amenities you could think of including a clean hot tub and fire pit. Janet was very helpful and always available if we had any questions like where to find the lighter for the firepit. She also gave us a tour when we arrived and showed us how to use the hot tub and fireplaces so we didn't have to guess. We brought our dogs and they absolutely loved running around and going on hikes. It fit seven adults comfortably. Thanks Janet we enjoyed the farm fresh eggs and property. They even have a bocce ball court next the the pond. The property has plenty of activities to explore. The home is close enough to Asheville to go in for a meal then come relax afterwards. Great location and very clean.
Clean? Of course clean! We pride ourselves on giving you comfort from the "get-go" so you can just start on your relaxation with no worries. We like dog owners like you that kept your own covers on all the furniture, took your dogs on walks/hikes on the property and cleaned up after them. Of course, cleaning up after a dog when you're on a farm means letting those doggie gifts decompose in the woods not in plastic bags!
We're glad you got a chance to play bocce ball...it's one of our favorite games...beating out the nearby horse shoes and croquet. Lots to do here on the farm.
Most renters find Cloud 9 Relaxation Home to be the perfect respite from touring the Biltmore Estate and Chimney Rock Park because it's so close. Bird watching: pileated woodpeckers, red tailed hawks, bluebirds, wild turkeys. Biking (best mountain biking trails in the country). Motorcycling (Deal's Gap is a day trip), Waterfalls, Blue Ridge Parkway, Mount Mitchell, NC Arboretum, Biltmore Estate, Grove Park Inn, Grove Arcade, Chimney Rock, Lake Lure. Great ethnic and independently owned restaurants abound in Asheville. List of favorite local food restaurants at our rental. Unique ceremonial site in the woods or use the mountain laurel arch near our Peterson pond waterfall. Good energy! If you are creative, you can do some internet research on the name of our Cloud 9 Farm, put it all together as one word with a dot net. There you could find out our contact information.
