Why Sherry chose Nisswa

Check out reviews. Our guests have loved staying in this beautiful lake home.

What makes this house unique

We pride ourselves on assisting our guests on planning a memorable stay at our lake home. We know a lot about Brainerd Lakes area and we are happy to make suggestions about fun and exciting things to do. Anywhere from having a float plane pick you up at the end of the dock for a bird eye view of the lakes. Or assisting you with a professional fishing guide or helping line up a fishing boat, speed boat or jet ski. If your a biker there are amazing bike trails near by. If you just want to go for a nature walk the Pillsbury State Forest is only a few blocks away. There is also a horseback riding stable within 5 minutes. And for the kids, the pig races are a hoot to see at The Bears Den in Leader, MN.

The comment that we most often get from our guests are that the pictures do not do the home justice and that they appreciate all the extras that are included in the home to make their stay more enjoyable.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Sherry,

Speaking for our group of 5 semi-professional golfers...we so enjoyed our stay at this beautiful resort sporting lodge. While reminiscing each evening about our various Eagles and Birdies. We also reveled in watching your eagles and birdies at the lake house!

We look forward to staying here again as a respite from the oppressive heat of Houston and the oppression of our lovely wives.

All the best from the golf pros from Texas!

Beautiful home in secluded Wilson Bay

  • 4 of 5

Enjoyed our stay at lake house, nicely decorated and well stocked. Located in a secluded corner of Wilson Bay.sherry was very easy to work with and was very informative on area activities and area merchants.

EVERYTHING AND MORE

  • 5 of 5

We rented this home based on pictures and previous reviews. We had 6 adukts and 5 children for 1 week and there was never a time that we felt we were in each others space. the home is equipped with everything that is needed to have a great time at the lake. The kids caught as many panfish as they could possible want too. The seclusion of the bay allowed for tubing, skiing and wake boarding. Many evenings were spent at the campfire enjoying smores and peaceful enjoyment of the lake. Sherry was great to work with and lived up to every promise that was made following our booking. a GREAT EXPERIENCE

Great stay

  • 5 of 5

5 young at heart women from all over the country, for yearly get together stayed here. We had fabulous time. Beds on old bones VERY comfy, the kitchen i would love to have in my home. The house is large enough for larger groups. For us 5 it was perfect. Extremely clean and the view of the lake thru the trees was great. There are 42 steps to get to the lake but enough rest stops along the way to make it OK for old joints. House within 10 min of great restaurants. Owners great people and responsive to any requests. Would be a do over.

Nice place for a big group

  • 4 of 5

The house was great - nice and big. We were a group of 12 women in our 30's, meeting for a reunion over Labor Day. Everybody has moved across the country by now, so we decided to meet for a weekend up north. There was plenty of room in the kitchen area for everybody to hang out and socialize while we made food together. The place is also pretty close to lots to do - within 20 minutes of a variety of choices (breweries, riding stable, town). It was a cooler weekend, so we didn't all go swimming, but note that it's weedy close to the dock (just as you'd expect though, most MN lakes have conservation ordinances preventing people from making beaches). It was nice though - the water was refreshing. Plus, we didn't run out of hot water even though we had that many women!

I suppose the one knock I've got about it is the rental process. Sherry is very sweet, and helpful with lots of ideas to do around town or on the lake, but there were clearly some trust issues there. She just kept asking what we were going to be doing the whole time, and insisted on coming by to check us in even after I told her once we got there that it was a straightforward place, it looked great, no questions. She ended up coming to the house on Saturday afternoon (well into our stay) and the check in process was her showing me the stuff that's already clearly written on the contract, check-in document, and notes around the house. It came across as nosy, and it was a disruption to our vacation, so I'm sour about that. I assume she just wants to make sure people are having fun, but she inserted herself too strongly into our private time. She asked why we were getting together, what we were celebrating, what we were planning on doing.. a bunch of times. I assume she wasn't satisfied by my answers. She kept asking, which is where that snoopy feeling came from. It was like she wanted every detail, like she was trying to approve our plans or something strange.

To end on a good note though, we all had a great time. We stuck around the house for the most part, made our own food, and really got a chance to relax and have fun by the lake. The open format of the kitchen/dining/living area was really nice. One night we went over to Zorbaz, which is the perfect raucous townie bar/restaurant you could ask for. Food, lots of space, impressive selection of local and MN beer on tap. Overall we enjoyed ourselves on our stay!

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying at our property. I really appreciate your feedback. We pride ourselves being attentive hosts. The day prior to your stay we installed a brand new water heater and wanted to make sure that it was working properly and set to the correct temperature. It is never our intention to be intrusive, we simply want to provide the highest level of service possible.

We stayed several days at this lovely home. Wish we could have stayed longer. Just five of us (family) so we had lots of space. Sherry was very accommodating. Would love to come back again. Thanks! NR
