About Suzanna Plumb
Retired educator and librarian, my passions are textile crafts, jewelry making, antique refinishing, some gardening and home décor. Fluent French speaker and working to attain fluency in Italian, I'm a Europhile with my vine-covered main deck! I prize the cool summers (mostly) in Seattle and access to the ocean and the waters of Puget Sound, and two great NPR stations. I have two Siamese cats .
Suzanna Plumb purchased this Studio in 1974
Why Suzanna Plumb chose Mount Baker
Developed the studio apartment in 1989. A great neighborhood should be shared with those who cannot purchase in this prime area! Remodeled in December 2010.
What makes this Studio unique
Quick access to beautiful areas on foot. The sense of history and groundedness in staying in the house that was built to promote the area in 1905, and the authenticity of its architecture. The presence of a variety of plants on the decks, hot tub house and in the yard. A quiet neighborhood close to downtown, yet on a huge lake resembling the lakes of Italy.

To start the only reason why I would not go there again is the bed which the boards under we’re not very stable and had to re adjust. The site/book could be updated a little with correct info. Otherwise the owners were great when answering questions. They had a great book they made up with information. The neighborhood was nice, good little walk to a small beach area with dock. The pizza restaurant just down the block was very good. The hot tub was also a plus.
restful and livable.
We absolutely loved the neighborhood. The suite wss very comfortable and functional. Thanks for a great stay.
Very cute, quiet neighbourhood wonderful for exploring Seattle without having to stay downtown. Hot tub was relaxing and private.
Didn't represent well
The neighborhood was nice. We really liked the little neighborhood saloon down the block we had great conversations with the staff and some of the neighbors. There is a awesome Thai restaurant very close also!! The house was a great location for the things we did. But however......It felt like we were in our parents basement. We felt like we had to be quiet. The tv is so small that you have to turn it way up to hear it & then it felt like we would disturb others. Not like we watched a lot of tv but you know before you go to bed & I don't like the tv loud. The place wasn't that clean there was sand/dirt in the kitchen & under the kitchen rugs it needed sweeping & mopping. The other throw rugs throughout the unit were old and not necessary. The paint was chipping in a few spots and a few cobwebs. But I think the worst was the bed. It's old and saggy we felt like we were sleeping in a hammock. After the 2nd night we finally slept on the opposite end and that helped. If you are 6' like we are or taller this bed will not work. It's really hard to sleep with a foot board when you are tall. The last thing I will say is we were looking forward to the hot tub house but it is in the back yard. You have to go through the carport where a car was parked then go into the yard where it felt like we were not suppose to be there so we chose not to use it. That was disappointing.
Private, quiet spot in a great neighborhood. Most importantly, the bed was very comfortable.
Very private place with an extremely comfortable bed.
Mt. Baker is one of the oldest developed residential neighborhoods in Seattle, cleared in the 1900's. My house was the model for development which took place mostly in the 1920's. Elegant homes and landscaping surround the rental, with scenic walks along the lake with mountain views and lake swimming areas. Sailing center nearby where boats can be rented. Located south of downtown with easy access to downtown and airport via Light Rail. Situated near Columbia City, with upscale bars and small restaurants, as well as inexpensive ethnic restaurants in walking distance.
