Although the cottage itself is nestled into sublimely quiet surroundings (with easy access to beaches and hiking trails), it is also just minutes from more active pursuits. The newly completed Concordia Eco Complex, with its splendid seaside setting (bar, restaurant, grocery store, snorkel rental, day -trips, and yoga/massage facility) is just 0.8 miles up the road and the town of Coral Bay, with its many attractions (water sports, horseback riding, shopping, restaurants, nightlife and more) is less than a 10 minute drive away.
The nearest beach is 0.3 miles away. While a rental car is recommended (for optimal touring of the rest of the island), the Salt Pond Bay bus stop (servicing both Coral Bay and Cruz Bay is just a three minute walk away, making your stay possible without one.
In 1988, my wife and I bought a timeshare property at Bluebeards Castle in St. Thomas and fell in love with St. John during our many trips to the island. It always our dream as we neared retirement to buy a property on St. John. It is now our pleasure to share it with you.

Dear Liz and Russ,
Thank you so much for your hospitality. We adored the cottage! It is so cute and cozy. You have done a wonderful job creating the perfect paradise get away. We are so glad we found it and wish we could stay much longer. Next time!
Emily and Chris
P.S. You have a great library! I read three books while I was here and I am going home with a long list of titles. - Emily.
This is a very open and airy cottage nestled in the lush green hills of the national park. While there are no views of the sea, the natural world around the cottage is very relaxing. Birds chirping in the morning, frogs chirping at night, intoxicating breezes blowing through the cottage most of the time. We enjoyed watching the occasional rain shower sweep across the green valley below the cottage. I awoke to views of two verdant hills under a beautiful sky. I sang opera in the shower. If you like running or hiking there are several short trails (ending in lovely overlooks) near the cottage. Salt Pond beach is a walk up the road and has decent snorkeling.
There are some mosquitoes active in the evenings, so bring bug repellent!
The cottage is clean and neat, the interior seemed to have been recently painted. The kitchen is small but well stocked, with a full size refrigerator and 4-burner stove. We cooked all of our meals here. There is a small table in the "studio" area, only big enough for two diners, but there are also a coffee table and chairs in the screened-in porch. Russ is very friendly and helpful. We had use of a kayak, snorkeling gear, and beach chairs.
This is a wonderful retreat. I wish I was there now!
Delightful cottage at the end of St John. Airy, open, like living in a treehouse. Be a part of nature when you stay at Lameshur Cottage. Great location for Salt Pond!!! Thank you for a lovely stay.
We spent an amazing Christmas holiday in the beautiful island of St. Thomas. Our first time visiting the island of "LOVE", and it truly is. The cottage is located on the side of the island that is filled with chickens, donkeys, mongoose, and the nicest people in the world. ( although the people of St. Thomas are nice,... Period.) The cottage is equipped with everything that you need. It's very clean, and I slept so soundly to the music of the wind and the birds singing through the screens. Liz is a wonderful hostess. She was available for us if we needed her. The cottage is a place for the physically fit, due to the steep landscaping. And her description is spot-on. It is a place of peace, and we highly recommend it. Thanks Liz for making this a beautiful place to gather lifetime memories...
Our stay at Lameshur Cottages was absolutely perfect for my husband and I and our two teenage daughters. We have stayed in many beautiful resorts but were really looking for something "off the beaten path" and much more laid-back. Although this type of vacationing may not be for everyone, we absolutely loved the very peaceful atmosphere and beautiful views of the mountain that we woke up to every morning. The cottage was adorable and really had everything that we needed and we love that the owners provide everything you need for the beach, including beach towels, chairs, snorkeling gear etc. We do like to kayak but we didn't happen to use the kayak on this trip but will definitely use it the next time back : ) We were very glad that we rented a car because we were able to see so many things all around the island that we wouldn't have if we took public transportation. We did go into Cruz Bay a few times because, of course having teenagers with us, they like a little more "hustle and bustle" but it was so nice to come back to the peaceful cottage. Liz, the owner gave us some very helpful advice on places to go and see. We really enjoyed the local live music at the restaurants in the Coral Bay Area. Aqua Bistro Restaurant was one of our favorites. Liz also suggested Monday open mic night at Café Concordia and that was our favorite evening (great food, atmosphere and such talented musicians)! Thank you again Liz (and Russ...even though we didn't get to meet him in person)
We stayed for two days at Lameshur Cottages -- and extension of five night stay elsewhere -- because, after all, who really wants to leave and head back north in January? Lucky us, Russ, the owner allowed us to rent for two nights (a real hard thing to find in the high season) AND allowed for early check in (so no having to carry around my left over food in the jeep!) . The cottage was really cute. very beach, some lovely original paintings my Russ's wife, two very comfortable beds with mosquito nets and ceiling fans-- the cottage is very open and airy -- most of the windows are screened so you fall asleep to the sounds of the coquis. One thing i would like to comment on - and this will take a longer stay-- the library of books is amazing-- I have never seen such a collection of literature in one house -- both 'best sellers' and then a really extensive selection of excellent contemporary and classic literature. There is a washer and dryer in the unit we stayed in -- that was really nice to be able to dry our damp bathing suits before heading for the ferry. There is a hot tub as well -- though we did not use it with such a short stay. For an affordable, comfortable place this really cannot be beat -- Thank you Russ! (and is it okay if i borrow a book sometime? )
We enjoyed our stay in Liz and Russ's home. We had all of the windows open so that the nightly breeze (at times quite gusty!) and nature sounds lulled us to sleep. After a day at the beach snorkeling and swimming, it was just as wonderful to come back to the relaxing Lampshur home. The home is well maintained and clean. We thoroughly enjoyed the collection of reggae music and sitting out on the deck, and the hot tub with our morning coffee.
The location was perfect for us. We enjoy the quiet side of the island. The cottage is just down the road from Salt Pond Bay and Little Lampshur bays, two of our favorites. It doesn't take long (20 min tops) to get to the North side bays like Maho and Jumbie. Just watch out for the goats, chickens, and donkeys, and the little dog up the road!
Thank you Liz and Russ for opening up your home to us!
