This beautiful waterfront home supplies immediate access to all of Hatteras Island's natural resources. A private dock on the last undeveloped deep water harbor on the island allows for a quick boat run to your destination. Whether its heading out of the inlet for an inshore/offshore fishing adventure, or taking advantage of easy access to the local clam beds and sand reef, you're guaranteed to spend most of your time having fun versus trying to get there.
Great water views surround you on this site where our family's seafood business ("The Ice House") was owned and operated for many years. The business is gone now and this beautiful new home stands in its place. Our fond memories of that time are obvious in the personal pictures and unique decor we will now share with you.
The Ice House is newly built with current amenities and comfortable appointments. 2011 is its first season on the rental market. Four bedrooms comfortably sleep nine guests. There are two master bedrooms, one upstairs one downstairs. Each are equipped with King size beds, jetted tubs and spacious showers. There is a first floor guest room with a Queen size bed. And, a first floor kids room with pyramid style bunk beds (single on top and a double below).
The open floor plan upstairs incorporates the kitchen and bar into the living area and there is plenty of room downstairs when you want to get away from the group. Both the first and second floor have private northwestern facing decks and there is a crow's nest on the roof. All three provide a daily opportunity to pause and watch the sun melt into the sound. Conveniences like a separate ice maker in the kitchen, a dumb waiter to each floor, high end audio/video equipment and a well lit dock with fish cleaning table showcase the thought we have put into this place. We believe you will appreciate the quality of this house and will want to come back again and again.
Finally, to help make your stay as enjoyable and relaxed as possible we have teamed with Shore Details, a premier property management company led by friendly and helpful owners Pam and Rene Stoffel. For an additional service fee, Shore Details can provide many different optional services like linens, grocery shopping and even a private chef! They are local and just a phone call away should you have any problems or concerns during your stay.

We really enjoyed staying in the Ice House. We come to Hatteras at least one full week every year and always stay in a different cottage. Very few of them do we consider special enough to stay again. Yours was one that we would definitely stay in again. It was the perfect combination of spacious but not overwhelming and was very elegant.
Our family enjoyed a terrific week at the Ice House in Frisco. The house is very comfortable with beautiful finishes and furnishings and views worth coming back for. Beautiful sunsets a highlight. Very handy for a small sailboat, always plenty of good air. Frisco beach access just a short drive. Dumb waiter a very convenient feature.
We were looking for a vacation rental that would accommodate a boat and we were lucky enough to find The Ice House! The house is very comfortable and the location is great! We were able to launch the boat and store the trailer at a marina just around the corner. It was great having the boat right in the back yard! A great beach access is just a quick ride down the road making it the perfect location for the surfers in our group. My husband and his friend caught 2 croaker off the dock in the backyard the first morning! They were quickly cleaned and served for breakfast! What a great way to start the vacation! The week included off shore fishing, flounder gigging at night, crabbing off the dock, and clamming in the sound. You really can't ask for more! The owner is extremely nice and very helpful. Sharing his knowledge of the local waterway was beyond helpful! The location does come with a "price". The house is in an unusual location, not exactly a neighborhood. We loved that we were pretty much by ourselves. Be prepared to unplug. TV and internet access are not the best, but that is part of being on the island. Once we got used to it, life is much better without TV and computer! The cargo lift is another one of the best things about this house. Moving in and moving out was SO MUCH EASIER! The second sink in the kitchen turned out to be something else we all liked a lot. The view from the top of the house is spectacular! Sunsets are something to be celebrated and you couldn't ask for a better place for that! My whole family loved the set up of the deck too. All in all, this is a great vacation home! You won't go wrong if you choose The Ice House for your vacation rental!
My family and I just finished a week's stay at the Ice House in Frisco and could not have had more fun. The house is absolutely beautiful and the owner's were so helpful. My family fished and crabbed right in the backyard off the dock. We caught plenty to keep everyone happy. We enjoyed the Hot Tub in the crow's nest with the incredible views of the Sound. Getting to the beach was very easy as it was a mile down the road, but you stepped right out of your car and onto the beach. It seemed easier than having rented an Ocean Front home. We really loved being on the bay as it always gave us something cool to do such as crabbing, fishing, or kayaking. Can't wait to go back!
