Cute little cottage! Close enough to the beach but far enough away from the city.

A real vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay. Plenty of room for our little family reunion of two moms & four kids (8,8,11&14). The yard, dock & little beach was perfect for the kids to safely swim & play while the moms relaxed on the beach. We caught lots of good size fish using shrimp & squid. The kitchen had everything we needed & more. The fire pit was a big hit with our marshmallow munchers! Big beaches in FL & AL are very close. We loved being away from the touristy stuff but close enough to enjoy when we wanted to. We made many great family memories & hope to rent this home away from home again.

Needed a thorough cleaning

  • 2 of 5

We had high hopes for this rental as we have had good luck with our past 5 rentals. We found the cleanliness to pretty bad. Initially when we walked in the front door, we noticed an air conditioning vent on a closet door that was almost completely brown from dust. We later found several ceiling fans had about 1/4" of dust accumulated on the fan blades, and the lamps were similar. Then in the morning when we were going to make coffee, we found the typical coffee maker (not a Keurig) in a cabinet, when we opened it up, we found it full of old, very moldy coffee grounds. The shelves on the refrigerator of the door kept falling of as well, and then exposed food in the cracks inside. This coupled with mold growing around the tub and in the window in the bathroom made it hard to enjoy the other aspects of the house. In the bathroom, there was mold growing around every crevice adjacent to the tub. The bathtub has also pulled away from the wall and left a very unsightly gap between that anything can get into. Even though it says there's no pets allowed, the patio furniture on the front porch was covered of dog hair and had the smell of dogs on it. Otherwise, the pier was usable, but the upper deck was roped off and in poor repair. The kitchen is stocked, but make sure you check the items that you're using. We found several kitchen utensils that had rust on them. Overall, it looks like the house needs a deep and thorough cleaning along with some much needed upkeep to get it back to a decent standard. We really wanted to enjoy this stay, but the fact that everything had either dust, mold or rust on it made that hard to do.

Fun time with family

  • 3 of 5

Enjoyed the time with family. The house was ok with plenty of dishes and such. The only problem with the stay was i was not allowed to bring my chihuahua that is registered as my companion with the National Service Animal Registry. Even though they have a no pets policy, i felt their decision on this request was wrong.

Owner's Response: We are very sorry that you feel this way, however the policy was very clearly stated on the VRBO listing and the Rental Contract. As property owners, we must be considerate to everyone. There are many people that are allergic to animals, so we are not flexible with this policy.

Love the location, close to the beaches and still in a residential neighborhood.

  • 4 of 5

Weather was perfect (much warme than usual) during our two month stay. It was a short drive to Perdido Key and Johnson Beach and only slightly farther to Orange Beach. Shopping is great in Foley, Al to the west or Pensacola. Loved sleeping on the sun porch and waking to the squirrels running through the lovely oak trees. The only drawback was the comfort of the living room seating. It would be ok for a short stay but after two months we were happy to get back to our comfortable chairs.
