Take advantage of the most affordable vacation rental in West Maui. This cute, spacious, and very clean 2 bedroom 1 bathroom home is located in beautiful Napili on the oceanside of the Lower Rd. The two bedrooms include a master bedroom with a Posturepedic Queen bed, and a second room with a trundle bed (beds can be joined to make a king bed or split to make 2 twins). This quiet home offers a fully furnished kitchen, and very spacious living and dining room areas, everything you need to be comfortable without the outrageous cost.

This plantation home sits on a large 10,000 square foot property with plumeria, guava, mango, papaya, and banana trees. A five minute walk takes you to a beautiful, quiet beach where sunsets are magnificent. A 10 minute walk takes you to the Napili Plaza where all the ameniites (post office, ATM, grocery store, restaurants, pharmacy, beauty salon, and snorkel set rentals) are available. A Weber gas BBQ and a washer/drier are also at your disposal. Depending on what is fruiting in the garden or on the trees, fresh fruits and veggies may also be available.

The property owner, a doctoral graduate in marine biology, lives in a studio connected to the main house. If he is not off-island on a research cruise in some remote part of the world, he would be happy to advise you on where to experience the best of Maui's underwater beauty. Four hens, affectionately known as "Salt", "Brown Sugar", "Peeps" and "Cheeps" roam the backyard during the daytime and roost in the coupe at night. The inside of the coupe is monitored with a small security camera by the owner so he can keep tabs on the health and well being of his baby girls when on travel. No roosters, so you barely know they are there and they are a lot of fun to watch. "Kuma" and "Yuki" are the two most beautiful and friendly cats you will ever meet. Understandably, if you don't like animals, no need to apply.

This can be your home away from home while you explore all the beauty of Maui.

About Mark Deakos

Welcome to my beautiful home. I'm originally from Montreal, Canada, but found my paradise here on Maui where I have lived for the past 17 years. I am a marine biologist having spent the better part of my last 20 years studying whales and dolphins all over the world. More recently I obtained my doctoral degree learning about Maui's manta rays. Now I spend most of my time devoted to my non-profit, The Hawaii Association for Marine Education and Research, Inc., pursuing its mission to preserve Hawaii precious marine resources through sound research and education. I spent the past 17 years studying the endangered humpback whale here in Maui, the best place in the world to study them on their breeding ground. Where else would anyone want to buy a home?

What makes this house unique

The home is located on 10,000 square feet with beautiful plumeria, guava, mango, and banana trees. It is 15 minutes north of Lahaina, close enough to gain access to all their activities and restaurants while enjoying the tranquility and beauty of the upper west side. The sunsets are spectacular from the beach only a 5 min walk from the house. Bring a beach chair, a beverage, and soak in the beauty. A ten minute walk up the hill is Napili market where the post office, grocery store, ATM, and restaurants are available for your convenience. Or stop in at Boss Frog's for some affordable snorkel gear and enjoy the many turtles, fish, and beautiful corals. In the winter months, listen closely and you just might hear humpback whales singing.

Good for those on a budget

This is a good place if on a budget. The owner Mark is really accommodating and very helpful. Because it is lower price, it is somewhat antiquated/not fancy. The beds may not be good for those with sensitive backs.

Perfect for value

Older place but totally fits our need. Most appliances are dated but in excellent working order. About a mile from Kapalua Beach. Start here and walk coastal trail. Quick drive for a swim.

Great location in NW Maui.

Great place from which to explore West and North Maui. The house comes with beach accessories to take advantage of the beautiful coast - chairs, cooler, beach towels, etc. However, we brought our own snorkel gear. We spent a lot of time in the water free-diving and there are many places to go. A highlight was SUPing with spinner dolphins at Fleming beach in just after 7 AM. The kitchen and furnishings are not fancy (Maui on a budget), but adequate for a family of 4 or 5. The house was clean and ready for us when we arrived. Checking in/out was easy and Mark is very knowledgeable about the area. The combination of price and location can't be beat. We would stay there again.

It is a beautiful place close to a lot of nice beaches. Also walking distance to a shopping center ina very nice/safe neighborhood. Tracy was a great host and very helpful with questions and things we should see.

great location!!

Hale O'Nanea is perfectly located in West Maui! We were close to great beaches, restaurants, a market and much more! We enjoyed walking to Kahana Sunset beach each evening (it's about a 2 min. walk) for sunsets and turtle watching. We loved being in a home rather than a resort and it was clean and spacious. There IS a little road noise, but nothing overly bothersome, and it seemed to quiet down at night. The owners Mark and Tracy are super nice, friendly and have lots of interesting info to share!
