Ebsen Vacation Home was originally built by Buddy Ebsen's parents Christian L Ebsen and his mother Frances. The deed has been secured from the local courthouse and has been framed for the walls at the cottage. They came down from Illinois and moved to Florida then came in Oct of 1946 bought this land in the Naples area of Hendersonville, North Carolina for their summer home to be built and live there during their summers when Buddy was a young lad.
In later years Buddy Ebsen (AKA as Jed Clampett on Beverly Hillbillies) would come from Hollywood to relax and stay here at this cottage. I
So come and enjoy the Ebsen Summer Home built in 1940's and updated with all the modern conveniences so you can enjoy the Yester years and still have the comforts of today.
The Carolina Granite Fireplace that stands so majestic in the living room with 10 ft ceilings ,hardwood floors and large living room for lots of relaxing. and here you can see the Blue Ridge mountains from the windows.
The Kitchen has large open windows to allow the morning sun to kiss the windows sills and as you make some hot tea or cup of coffee and just outside that kitchen door is waiting a deck with a welcoming chair and table to enjoy the morning as the dew begins to lift and dry from the boards and the azaleas and blooming cherry tree and old apple tree lifts their heads to the sun you enjoy the quiet and peace of the back veranda with no worries and the planning of your excursions for the day. Then to remember that at the end of the day and tired you can still return to this deck and enjoy the evening and night comfortably because the mountains nights are quiet cool even in the summer months that is like a refreshing drink of water to cool the insides as well as the outside from the heat of the day.
Then retire to the bedrooms covered with Egyptian sheets so silky that when you sleep and you arise in the morning rested and ready for the next day excursions..

Ya'll Come Back Now Ya Hear!!
As always if this cottage is not available please see my other cottage #333218 The Butler on this same web site.
I am a native of Hendersonville NC .
Jeanette Glenn purchased this bungalow in 1999
In 1999 I bought this first piece of property and for many years it was a monthly rental but the history behind the scenes that where told to me about Buddy Ebsen and his family actually bought this property many years ago and built a home and a cottage and this was there summer home. AKA Jed Clampett and I thought was a beautiful way to display yester years and let other people enjoy it.
I was so impressed of course with the property because of the views from the front porch and all its history.
So as Jed would put it 'Come and Sit a Spell'
I recommend you do this very thing. Relax, smell the mountain air, and if you like walk the grounds it is just like it was back in the early 1940.
I would recommend a set of the electronic pest repellents for the mice and the ants, otherwise it was great place to stay, convenient to get around. I did have trouble getting the wifi to work.
My friend and I stayed at the Ebsen Cottage when we came to town for the Mother Earth News Fair and I am so happy to have discovered it. The cottage is truly a home away from home. The kitchen opens up to a nice deck to the east overlooking the back lawn and we enjoyed winding down the day back there. The heated front porch enclosure offers beautiful sunsets and views of the mountains and it is a great place for dinner or just to unwind. Yoga in front of the fire place was awesome each morning and the whole cottage gives a homey feel. The backyard is very large and it is a good place for families with children. The layout of the cottage is standard shotgun so ever room opens up to a different main room and both adult bedrooms open to a bathroom. Lots of closets too. Everything we needed was very close to us. The décor is total home charm from the quilts to the glassware. The Ebsen Cottage is very family oriented but it is also suitable for a friendly weekend get-together. Jeanette is wonderful hostess. I hope to stay again at the Ebsen cottage.
I saw the house yesterday I cant wait to stay in it come September I fell in love with it
The cottage needs a good Spring cleaning. There were droppings in the chests of drawers and kitchen cabinets.
The Wi-Fi never worked, nor did the mixer.
The two stars are for Jeanette's communications before and during our stay.
Very clean with everything needed for a few nights stay. First impression when you pull up is "what did I get myself into" but open the front door and it's very warm and quaint. Being an old preserved house you will see some imperfect exterior home conditions (none that is an inconvenience). Getting up to the home will require a running start with a loaded vehicle. It's a pretty steep incline. As the driveway sign states, "Keep a steady pace". The only negatives I have is: (1) the home has only 2 window A/C's for cooling (one in the living room and the other in the middle bedroom). The master bedroom door will have to be left open if you want the room to be cool during summer nights. (2) the middle bedroom double bed is hard as rock. (3) Whoever sleeps in the bunk beds has to go through the middle bedroom to access the bathroom.
Really enjoyed the ambiance of this house. Tastefully decorated. Wi-fi was weak but other than that this place was fantastic. I would definitely recommend this house to anyone and hope to stay there again myself. Called Jeanette (owner) before renting and she was very helpful and most gracious. Thanks again Jeanette !!!
