About the property

Sleeps 10. 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms. 2 Cal Kings, 3 Queens. 2 Living Rooms.

Enjoy a perfect vacation in this private Hawaiian home.

Imagine arriving in Hawaii and pulling up to your own private home with ocean views from every bedroom! This spacious home is located in a beautiful upscale neighborhood and has a private, heated pool, and a huge lanai with one of the best sunset views in Kona.

This home easily accommodates 3-4 couples or 1-2 families and much more affordable and convenient than a nice hotel.

Because of its location and elevation (650 ft), you not only get the amazing panoramic ocean views, but also island breezes flowing through the home ensuring fresh air and comfortable temperatures. Conveniently located, you are a short drive (5-10 minutes) from all of the action in downtown kona, Alii drive and beaches, whale watching adventures and golf resorts, and only 15-20 minutes from the airport.

The main floor of the home offers a large kitchen, dining room, living room, laundry room and 2 bedrooms. The master bedroom with a California King size bed, large bathroom, walk-in closet, and opens onto the outdoor lanai. A second bedroom upstairs has a Queen bed and large bathroom across the hall, and also opens up to the lanai.

The lower level includes two bedrooms that access the pool deck. One has 2 Queen beds and the other has a California King and family room with surround sofa and TV. There's also an additional bathroom downstairs, conveniently located between the bedrooms.

Elegant furnishings and decorated Hawaiian style, this spacious home has an open floor plan with high ceilings, large rooms, and two living/family room areas. The gourmet kitchen has a counter height table set for 4, center island, new stainless steel appliances and is large enough for sharing quality time while the group chef whips up a meal! So many extra details are included, such as Reverse Osmosis filtered drinking water.

Outside, enjoy the incredible manicured landscaping with beautiful tropical plants and flowers (several Plumerias for Hawaiian leis). You may also pick fruit and nuts from the papaya, lemon, lime, orange, star fruit, guava, mango, & macadamia nut trees. We also have a shared avocado tree with our neighbor :) for you to enjoy.

The heated pool is an amazing mild saline pool (read more about it on our website, linked below). It is equipped with a pool light that changes color or you can leave it on your favorite color. The large pool deck offers both seating and table arrangements for sunbathing or sitting in the shade under covered areas and lounging, watching the kids swim, or reading a book from our large generous library. It is the perfect place to have fun with your friends and family and also relax, or fire up the BBQ.

According to guests, the lanai is definitely one of the best features of the house. It has 4 different seating arrangements, is covered, and has comfortable temperatures 24 hours a day ~ never too hot or cold. Wake up with your morning coffee while reclining in the lounger and bird watching. We even have a bird book so you can identify the countless varieties. Enjoy your lunch at the bistro table, or create a cozy, romantic dinner at the table for two while watching the sunset.

Sunsets are absolutely amazing with the 180-degree views of the Pacific Ocean! We even include a pair of binoculars for whale watching from the lanai. You can also see surfers at the Big Island's most popular surfing spot!

About Jon Berman

We are Jon and Jackie. We currently live in Missoula, Montana and are lucky enough to travel back and forth enjoying both beautiful states.

Jon is a native New Yorker and Jackie a Montanan, but both of us were also Hawaii residents at one time. Jon was a local Kona pharmacist and Jackie spent some childhood years growing up on Oahu.

In Montana, we enjoy riding mountain bikes during the summer and obsessively playing hockey in the winter ( all 9 months). Although we love the idea of retiring in Kona, we can't give up hockey just yet; Canadians, you understand, right?

We know quite a bit about the Big Island, and try to get back when possible to visit our wonderful friends and make improvements to the house.

We work hard to think of ways to make your trip more enjoyable and admit we are a little obsessed with getting 5 star Reviews! Therefore we are always a phone call away if you need anything, even if it's advice on the best beach for your family. We also have many reliable caretakers and contacts that keep everything working and running smoothly.

When there, we enjoy riding our bikes on the nearby Walua road and trail system (a couple of blocks below the house,) and snorkeling. A special treat is taking the kayak out at night and snorkeling while the Mantas feed near the Sheraton hotel.

Jackie likes working in the yard and she landscaped and planted nearly everything. Jon enjoys making new smoothie combinations from the various fruits & nuts on the property.

Whatever we are doing during the day, we always make sure we are home by 6pm to see the most amazing sunsets. Each one is unique night after night and no picture seems to do them justice.

Mahalo for reading , and hopefully you will let us share our amazing home with you and make your next vacation epic :)

Why Jon Berman chose Kona Coast

Like many people, we used to dream of owning a home in Hawaii. Northern winters can be long, dark, and cold. We came here for the weather, but stayed and bought a home because of the people.

Hawaii is, hands down, the friendliest place either one of us have ever experienced. The Aloha spirit is generous, friendly, warm and loving. The Big Island, especially has a casual atmosphere and easy going charm.

And not just locals. Hawaii seems to be a transient place with diverse populations of people moving in and eager to meet friends. We both agree that Hawaii is the easiest place we have ever made friends and continue to make them every time we come to the island.

What makes this house unique

We started out renting this home and fell in love with the open floor plan, high ceilings and large rooms. We especially like the majestic panoramic ocean views at this higher elevation, better than the close up views on the coast, which seem small in comparison.

Jalousie windows that open on the east and west sides of the house are so important in Hawaii. Why? Because you need the trade winds flowing through your house for airflow to keep it cool and open.

The alternative is closing all the doors and windows to run an air conditioner, which is what you have to do down in the lower elevations where the temperatures are much hotter. We don't like that option. We usually have cabin fever from being in Montana winters, so really enjoy having doors and windows open all day and night.

Another unique benefit of the house design is that it also offers outdoor areas (lanai and pool deck) in the SHADE, which we prefer. Don't get us wrong, there's plenty of sunny areas around the house, if you're a sun lover. But, for fair skinned people, or those who get overheated easily there's also plenty of covered areas to lounge around and enjoy the outdoor pool, garden, and views.

The neighborhood is upscale and friendly with many dog walkers who like chatting on their morning treks, but also quiet and uncongested with traffic and people. There's also flocks of turkeys who strut down the streets, plenty of colorful birds, and even a neighborhood owl that flies around, who once even bathed on the top step of our pool.

Perfect quiet refuge!

  • 5 of 5

The home was a great retreat for our family on vacation. We had 7 people stay comfortably with a bed to spare. The house was clean and well furnished. We all said the beds were extremely comfortable. Good location close to downtown area and not too far from the beaches and activities. House has everything needed to cook. Loved staying up in the mountain where it was cooler than by the shore. Would definitely stay again!

You just have to stay at this house!!!

You just have to stay at this house!!!

We rented this house from Jon and Jackie in March and we couldn't have been happier with our decision. We had a group of 9 and it fit us perfectly. The house is very well organized and they have a great welcome packet that let us know everything we needed to know to make the most of our trip to Kona.

The biggest problem with the house is you will want to stay and sit in the pool all day instead of exploring the big island. A problem we were ok with!!! Couldn't recommend staying here more.

Spectacular view from this beautiful well maintaned home.

  • 5 of 5

The home is beautiful and well maintained. Jon and Jackie have made sure that everything is available and perfect for a restful big island holiday. The view from the living room and deck alone are enough to make me to come back. Our only regret is having to leave too soon and not being able to use the pool enough.

Jon and Jackie's vacation home was one of the nicest vacation homes I had ever stayed in.

  • 5 of 5

The house had everything we could possibly need. We had 8 adults and one child and everyone had their own space. We particularly enjoyed the spacious lanai and swimming pool.with the most outstanding views and sunsets. The kitchen had everything that we needed to prepare meals and was very comfortable . On a scale of 1-10 this is an 11 . Already contemplating our next Kona trip!

Gorgeous house with a great view

  • 5 of 5

Perfect house for our family vacation. Pictures on the website are an accurate representation of the house. House had plenty of room for our group which included six adults, one teenager and one toddler. The house was very comfortable and had plenty of open space for us to be able to hang out together. Whether it was upstairs in the kitchen making fish and shrimp tacos for dinner and then relaxing in the living and dining areas after a day of adventure. Or downstairs barbequing shish kabobs and drinking margaritas and having fun in the pool. I would also have to agree with alot of the other reviews when it comes to the subject of the Lanai. The view from the Lanai is B-E-A-utiful no matter what time of the day it is, but I'd have to say it's the best at sunset, as well as, in the early hours of the morning when the moon is still out. Another plus is that the house is very close to beaches where we were able to snorkel and parasail. We were also able to shop for souvenirs at the nearby shops and get some tasty sushi at a local restaurant. We also attended one of the luaus that they have on the island which is only about a 10-15 min drive from the house. I highly recommend attending especially if you have young ones with you. My three year old niece (who's favorite movie happens to be Disney's Moana at this time) loved the dancers. I would also like to recommend ziplining. Tons of fun! The only downside is that the good zipline tours are on the other side of the island. It took us almost 3 hours to get there but it was so worth it when we arrived. Ziplining over a waterfall was amazing! Definitely made many great memories that I will have with me forever. Thank you Jon and Jackie for sharing your home with us. You both were so helpful throughout the entire process and were very quick to respond to any questions or concerns that I had.

Fantastic View - Comfortable Home - Great Value!

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from a fantastic week staying at this home. It was perfect for our group of 3 adult couples + 3 children. We found everything as described. They home was nicely decorated with great art work! The view was unbeatable! We usually spent the first couple of hours of the day out on the lanai having coffee, breakfast and just enjoying the view. Great communication with Jon and Jacki before and during our stay. Jacki was quick to respond via text message with the few questions we had. We found the location to be very convenient with easy (driving) access to the shoreline restaurants and shopping. Loved Scandi's Shave Ice on Ali'i Drive. Also had a great time on the Body Glove snorkel and dolphin cruise. Thanks for a great week!

Noise: The house is in a quiet residential neighborhood, and noise travels well along the breeze that often moves through the area. For this reason, we are now trying to screen out guests who want to party or are exceedingly noisy.Truly sorry to have to mention that, but our Kona neighbors are also good friends and we don't want to disrupt their peaceful lives.
