About Richard Sementilli

I am a conscientious, responsive owner who is so proud to share this truly one of a kind property. I grew up in the Westchester County NY and I currently live in NYC. I love the contrast between the beauty and culture of New England with the proximity and excitement of NYC.

Richard Sementilli purchased this cottage in 2012

Why Richard Sementilli chose Lake Candlewood

Last year I found this amazing place on Homeaway. I immediately booked a brief two day stay but, within the first few moments upon my arrival, I knew that one day I wanted to buy this property. The setting is unbelievable, and the house itself is so perfectly charming. I then booked another two week stay this past July (2012) and I never wanted to leave! I ended up buying this property this September. I just had my family up to see this place for the first time this past weekend and they absolutely fell in love with as did I. I love how private, quiet and secluded the location is, but then it is just minutes away from all the things you need.

What makes this cottage unique

The house itself feels like its an old New England rustic cottage but in fact it has all the modern creature comforts that everyone wants. The previous owners had decorated and furnished the home so perfectly to match the setting and the style of the home, so I therefore did not change a thing!

One of my favorite features of this house is waking up in the morning surrounded by views of the lake from every direction - literally. If you look straight, you see water, look left, you see water, look right you see water. It feels like you are actually on a large yacht anchored on shore. It's just spectacular!

Our favorite place!

  • 5 of 5

Of all the places we have traveled to in the world, we find ourselves coming back to the Kozy over and over again. This was our fourth and longest stay in the last 4 years. We stayed for an entire week this time and it still wasn't long enough . The house and location itself are beyond compare. True peace and serenity are what you will find in surroundings that look like something out of a fairy tale, literally. Richard is always a warm and responsive host and we appreciate him sharing this special place with us and others. We're about to book for another week this fall. Can't wait to return!

Peace on earth!

  • 5 of 5

From the moment you arrive, until you close the door behind you for the last time, you will feel relaxed and at peace in this lovely home. If you feel restless, take a spin around the lake in the canoe. When you're done, take a nap on the cozy dock furniture! Inside is homey, comfortable and well stocked. If you are interested in great Italian food, Amore Resataurant is not too far on highway 37 and was very good and also does takeout.. Grocery store around the corner from there. There is good hiking nearby too. We now want a lake home of our own, it was so nice! Thanks for sharing yours!

Amazing getaway!

  • 5 of 5

It was perfect. House has it all. Boats, waterfront, jacuzzi, BBQ girl, firepit.

We really enjoyed all water activities. Water was clean and warm - perfect for swimming.

Dine outside or chill by the fire pit or by the water with a glass of wine. Watch movie on a huge projector.

Thank you Richard! We did love it and hope to come back again.

Relaxing cabin on the pond.

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a few fun and relaxing days here. The pond is very tranquil and the perfect size to canoe out and enjoy the sound of the paddles rippling though the water, the bullfrogs croaking, and the birds singing. The house has a nice, large dock to lounge on and swim out from. If you want powerboat-based activities, Candlewood Lake is right next door and you can rent a boat or pay someone to take you around on theirs. You can also hike/walk right out from the house into the surrounding hilly roads, or drive a few miles north and park your car and hike up Candlewood Mountain.

The house itself should have everything you need to be comfortable (we appreciated the hot tub, since the sun never showed itself during our stay, and the temps were often in the 50's). The bed in the second bedroom is a springy sofabed, if that's the kind of thing that throws you off. But if that's keeping you up at night, you can always enjoy the sound of the crickets and the views of the night sky from the panoramic windows.

Cute cottage on amazing, tranquil pond.

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely weekend visit from NYC with our two toddlers. The cottage is really cute and the owners have done a great job updating the space.

Our boys loved the warm water and it was warm and calm enough that we could push them across pond in the floaties. An exciting journey for them! They enjoyed projecting their favorite movie in the living room.

Owners were responsive and helpful!
