Why Richard Ashley chose 52
We used to live in Tokhouse and love the experience of living in a local neighborhood in a house rather than a high rise apartment. The house was originally built in 1965 but we completely remodelled it inside and out. new roof, plumbing, wiring, walls, appliances etc. Have a unique experience by living in a peaceful, safe Japanese neighbourhood yet be only a few minutes from the main JR Yamanote train line and the Tokyo metro. Easy and quick, direct airport access in under 1 hour. The most reasonable rates at the most convenient location. This area is where history has been preserved and the modern thrives so you get the best Tokyo has to offer.
What makes this House unique
This location offers it all. The accommodation is a house not an apartment.

Great place to stay in Tokyo
Tokhouse is the perfect place for us, esp. with a toddler in this holiday. Location is also good as it’s only a 10-min walk for us from nishi-nippori station. The personal concierge services are also more worthy. Eddie and Richard are professionals, and yet with very personal welcoming touch — so we had a very relaxing holiday.
I was looking for something that was not a hotel - this was the best we found. We stayed in Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto and both myself and my 11yo thought it was the best. Richard and Eddie were super helpful but not at all intrusive. The location was great (we caught trains to Ueno, Tokyo Bay, Asakusa etc), the neighbours almost silent and the apartment itself great - especially the shower! If you're on holiday and don't want to cook, there are heaps of options - and there is a lovely patisserie 2 mins away.
Great accommodation, great location, great price!
The owner Richard and the manager Eddie, couldn't have been more welcoming and eager to make our stay comfortable. They were immediately contactable if required and gave us contact details. The apartment was well maintained and clean. The location was good and only a short walk to the subway station at Nishi Nippori, with quick access to Tokyo and the surrounding areas including Disney. The local area was interesting with nearby supermarkets and bakeries. I would highly recommend this property. To anyone looking for a good apartment in a good location.
A good place to stay and no regret to choose it. Convient to go anywhere. Lots of good food ard. Will stay again in future.
A brilliant place to stay for location
This is a lovely property in a great location - a quiet, older part of the city with original buildings and streets. It's also close to a station with JR and other lines, making it easy to get to anywhere in Tokyo and to the central station for getting anywhere in Japan. Richard, the owner, and Eddie who introduced us to the property, were friendly and extremely knowledgeable about Tokyo and they provided great maps and offers of help with anything we needed. The property is lovely and we hugely enjoyed our stay.
Cozy stay in true Japanese style
Overall, the house is situated in the area accessible to food source at affordable price (24/7), gives warm and cozy sensation, fully equipped with household gears, clean and in good condition.
I deducted 1 star cuz (1) futons are rather dusty and (2) condition of bathroom could use some improvement.
