This is our family's treasured home that we share with others when we are not there.
Gay Jacobsen purchased this house in 1995
We have vacationed here since we were children ourselves. We have watched our family grow up here now and have tons of terrific memories.
Gearhart is simple, safe, and friendly. It allows you to really slow down and relax. The beach is wide open, clean and beautiful.
9 of us stayed at Second Wind and it was just wonderful! The home is so well-kept. Everything is nice and neat, inside and out, beautifully decorated, and we had everything we could possibly need and more. It really felt like home with many personal touches and fun collections in the house. I loved that the kitchen was well-stocked with nice quality stainless steel pans and cast iron cookware. That's what I use at home and so often when we've rented a place the cookware is old, scratched-up, non-stick cookware that I don't feel is healthy to use. The house is big enough that there was plenty of room for all of us - many places to sit and space for having your own space if you want it.
The sleepy, quiet town was just what we like and it is a short drive, about 5 minutes, to Seaside where you can go if you want an area with more activity. But we liked the quiet and restful atmosphere, and the quiet and private beach with no crowds! One day while walking through the grassy dunes to the beach, we saw a herd of 40-50 elk - that was awesome!
The little corner market was a great little store to walk to when we needed to pick up a few groceries and the local bakery was very nice for some morning treats. The bakery has limited hours so be sure to check that if you want to go.
Also, it was great to bring our dog along. The owners make pets very welcome and that made our trip very special to have our doggie with us. They even have a line in place outside so we could just hook it right to our dog's harness and she could have freedom to roam the yard and be safe.
We all loved the bench swing in the back and the warm outdoor shower to rinse off with before coming inside. We had planned to use the bikes that are offered, and we brought our helmets, but never got around to that, but that is a wonderful thing that the owners offer as well.
It was perfect and we hope we get the opportunity to come back some day. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us! What a lovely place!
We really enjoyed our stay and would return without hesitation. The ONLY thing we would have liked that the location lacked was a fully fenced backyard for our pup. Not complaining though, we had a great time.
We loved this home so much we wanted to buy it from the owners. It is impeccably furnished and appointed. The back deck is lovely as is the swinging bench at the far end. The owners are very gracious and the whole house resonated love. We want to go back with some friends in the fall who have never experienced the Oregon Coast. We plan on moving to Gearhart as soon as we can.
We absolutely loved the house! It made our stay so wonderful. We walked every day and dinned in one night to just enjoy the back yard. The house is impeccably taken care of and very comfortable.
I stayed at this home with relatives from out of town who had not experienced the oregon coast. We had an exceptionally good time. This house was comfortable to everyone and we especially enjoyed the back deck and yard. The neighbors on both sides couldn't have been nicer and gave us tips on walks, eats and general info. The owner was very easy to work with
We were looking for a place to spend time with my in-laws, who were visiting from out of town. The house was wonderful for us, our kids, and the grandparents. There was plenty of room for everyone to have privacy if they wanted it, and plenty of room for us to all join together in the main living space and the lovely backyard. We especially enjoyed the great collection of kids books and toys in the kids' bedroom. It was a bit of a walk to the beach, especially for my four-year-old who was under the weather. The house was cozy, the decor was charming and the beds were comfy! Thanks so much for a wonderful spot to spend time with family.
