Cozy with a great location Glacier!

  • 5 of 5

We spent two nights in this little gem of a house. It had everything we need for a quiet, relaxing spot after hiking and sight-seeing. It was clean and way more spacious than staying in a hotel for 7 people. Erin was a gracious host, offering tips to get the most from our experience in Glacier. The lake was a huge success with our kids (ages 8 and under). It was a great stay!

Great set up

  • 5 of 5

We had a blast at Erin and Abe's Duck Lake cabin. It was a nice drive to GNP each day and had plenty of space for our group. We cooked in each night and thoroughly enjoyed the quiet aspects of the cabin.

Erin was extremely helpful with suggestions for places to go and hikes, which is much appreciated.

Hopefully we'll be back one day!

EXACTLY What we were looking for !!

  • 4 of 5

Erin, we really enjoyed the stay at you Duck House. The house had a great feel to it. Perfect for 5 guys hiking E. Glacier for 3 days, and having a short drive back to a roomy, neat, clean cabin that was exactly as shown. The location was perfect for old friends yucking it up, and not bothering anyone else. Everyone was impressed with the property. We take a yearly trip, and there are a lot of places to see, but you might be seeing us again. Thanks, John B.

Pictures don't lie, but they don't tell the whole story either.

This property was OK. Once inside, the house was reasonably well laid out and the bedrooms and bathroom were well equipped. The kitchen was pretty OK too. There was only one frying pan, and no usable tea kettle nor any tea pot. Outside it was a different story. There were cattle right in the yard, and a family with small children would not be able to let their little ones roam at all as there was cow poop everywhere. We had to shoo the cows out of the yard away from our vehicles and lawn chairs several times. And although this property is called Duck "Lake" House, you cannot see or get to the lake from the house. This was a good location to base a group for a week of hiking into east Glacier Park, but it needs a bit of attention to bring it up to a good standard.

Owner's Response: Well we are awfully sorry you feel the way you do. As far as the frying pan and tea kettle, you have been the first to say a thing about that. Whenever we have tenants request or inquire about a certain item in the house ,we are quick to respond. We have brought in crockpots, hairdryers, and certain baking dishes just by requests. We have only had the most positive reviews from past tenants regarding our kitchen, so again thanks for bringing these to our attention as needed items. As far as the cattle go, there is a time in the year that certain cattle from neighboring farms tend to wander over to places at Duck Lake. Being on an Indian Reservation, we have no control over that and feel privileged to be able to have a private property on such sacred land. You were a group of 6 men if I recall, so I am glad it did not affect any children staying there. In the description of the proximity to the lake it clearly states that we are thirty yards back from the lake. It is within easy walking access and is described as being at Duck Lake because its address is the West Shore of Duck Lake. There is also a road (second driveway) that we own that “Y's” with the turn for our house that takes you right down to the lake as well as a side entrance from the house. All of these directions are provided in the binder in the home, and all are at most a 30 yard walk. We open our home to many tenants and most, if not all, are looking for the awesome location our place has to great hiking in the Park and some sort of quiet get away from it all. I am sorry you were disappointed, but glad that it gave you the proximity you were looking for!

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay and were very impressed with this cabin. There was plenty of space for five of us, and my girls loved sprawling out in the loft bedroom. The cabin is neat, clean, and very well furnished. The owners have provided all the necessities of home and we found ourselves missing nothing. The laundry facility was truly a lifesaver. We had a small issue with the water pump, and it was dealt with promptly and efficiently. The fact that there was no cell or internet service at the cabin was a minor inconvenience; however, we did obtain cell service within five miles from the cabin on Hwy 89. The location is perfect with convenient and easy access to the St. Mary and Many Glacier entrances. We also drove about and hour down to Two Medicine to enjoy the hiking and scenery there. We found the small town of Browning to be an easy location (about 25 minutes) to gather groceries, gas, and drinking water. We would highly recommend this VRBO to be your “Cabin, Sweet, Cabin” on your next trip to Glacier.

Should change name from Duck Lake House to Perfect House!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for about 10 days and it was perfect. We are 55+ and avid hikers. We hiked every single day and it was wonderful to come home to a comfortable house and a home cooked meal. There is even a crock pot which we will use next year as we have already booked our return trip. We love Many Glacier but also enjoy peace and quiet and this house is quiet!!! I did notice that the clocks were not working so I found some batteries and quickly discovered why they left the batteries out. At night, it is so quiet you could hear the ticking of the clock. The owners very knowledgeable about the area and would not hesitate to recommend. We are back in 2015.......
