This amazing adobe hacienda is a Santa Fe Landmark and rarely available for vacation rental. Located in the heart of Santa Fe, very near the Guadalupe Church, this is the perfect place if you are looking for a one-of-a-kind house, with extensive room for entertaining, indoors and out. You can walk to the Plaza or the Railyard and Farmers' Market in only a few minutes. This unique 200 year old compound still retains extensive gardens and remarkable privacy; a surprising oasis in the center of town.

This historic property is only available a few times a year to a few lucky guests. Please e-mail us regarding dates requested and we will try our best to accommodate you.

This beautiful property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and includes numerous lovely features hidden securely behind thick adobe walls and large wooden entry doors. The main living/dining room, called a 'Sala', dates from the 1800's and is 40 feet long with 12 foot ceilings and a fireplace. The formal dining table is also in this grand room and seats eight comfortably.

Beyond the Sala is a beautiful large interior courtyard with abundant flowers and a Mexican fountain. Bordering one side of the courtyard is a wide covered portal, called a 'Zaguan', which extends for over 60 feet from the front doors to the rear garden. This is a delightful place to relax in the Summer months and a teak dining table on the Zaguan extends to seat ten. You will be delighted by the peace and quiet of this walled interior garden.

From the Zaguan, one enters the old-fashioned country kitchen with gas range and large wooden island. One end of the kitchen has a pine table for casual dining. This room opens with large french doors into the courtyard as well as on to the long porch facing the south garden and fruit trees. Connected to the kitchen area is the study with comfortable seating and a flat screen TV. The study also has a high-quality queen-size sofa-bed which sleeps two if needed.

Beyond the study is the spacious Master Bedroom with a king bed and windows looking out in to the south garden. There is also a door leading on to the south porch.

The property includes two bathrooms, one is a 3/4 bath and includes the laundry area, located off of the Zaguan. The second bath has a tub/shower and is located near the bedroom. Please take a look at the attached floor plan to get a better understanding of the layout of rooms.

Although there is plenty of off-street parking, you will find that walking from the hacienda to many locations in town is an easy and delightful few minutes. Behind the hacienda, to the south, is an extensive green garden with many mature plants and fruit trees. This large property is one of the last in this neighborhood to remain intact for so many years.

Because of the unusual nature of this historic property, we are restricting its occupancy to a maximum of four persons, although you are welcome to entertain others.

Throughout the Summer months, this 'casa vieja' offers a truly magical indoor/outdoor lifestyle in a historic setting that is the essence of Santa Fe romance.

This home has all the charm and character and comfort reflected in the pictures and the earlier reviews. The location is ideal; parking is easy; and the host is thoughtful and generous -- met us on arrival and provided a basket of treats to make sure we had everything from morning coffee to afternoon wine, chips and salsa. What a great and authentic Santa Fe experience!

Indian Market Week, 2013

My wife and I visit Santa Fe every August for the week and weekend of Indian Market. We have stayed in many beautiful rental properties, but none that compare with this historic hacienda. A perfect location, only minutes from the historic town square and equally close to one of our favorite hangouts, the Rail Yard farmer's market. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were a breeze with a lovely, well stocked kitchen and outdoor eating areas at the Hacienda, plus a multitude of great restaurants in all price ranges and all within walking distance. The home itself was spotlessly clean and stocked with everything the traveler could want. The only thing nicer than the property itself was the gracious hospitality shown to us by the owners. If you should be so fortunate to have the opportunity to stay here, please do not pass it up!

Once in Lifetime, Bucket List Experience

I've stayed at many VRBO properties around the country and this one is by far the best. Exquisite. It captures the spirit of Santa Fe, and is beautifully appointed while retaining its original character. My husband and have enjoyed two stays so far and plan to come back again. It's a serene oasis a short walk from historic downtown and steps from one of the best restaurants in Santa Fe, Bouche. We breakfasted al fresco in the the inner and outer courtyards, and strolled to amazing eateries for lunch and dinner every day. The owners, Patrick and Gary, could not have been more accommodating and are two of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Highly recommended!!!

Everything It Appears To Be and Much More

My wife and I had an absolutely wonderful week-long stay in this beautiful old historic house. It is more lovely than the photos can convey. It's a perfect base for an extended visit to Santa Fe with or without a car. A few blocks' walk in one direction takes you to the historic and hectic plaza, while going in another direction takes you to the Railyards area. Lots of shopping and good restaurants in between. If you have a car, as we did, there is excellent off-street parking that adjoins the extensive garden area behind the house, and there is easy access to roads leading to the opera, Los Alamos, Bandelier, and Taos. We so much enjoyed beginning our days with breakfast in the interior courtyard and later returning to the tranquil beauty of the large garden courtyard behind the hacienda. The kitchen is well-equipped, the master bedroom very comfortable, and the wifi strong. The owners are most gracious and helpful. If you want to have a terrific, authentic Santa Fe experience, this is the place for you.

The best place to stay in Santa Fe!

My husband and I just returned from a magical two weeks at this Historic Adobe Hacienda. The pictures are lovely but they still do not capture just how wonderful this home is. The owners have done an amazing job making the home comfortable and elegant at the same time. We looked at dozens of rentals in Santa Fe and are so thankful that we made the decision to stay here. It’s a privilege to be able to stay in such a beautiful and historic home.

The location is ideal for exploring Santa Fe. You are off the main plaza (away from the crowds of tourists), and you can walk to the center of the plaza in 5-10 minutes (under half mile). You can also take a 5-10 minute walk in the other direction to the wonderful shops and restaurants at the Railyard. And just for reference, from the front door of the Hacienda to the LAST gallery on Canyon Road it’s a beautiful 1.5 mile walk …. truly the perfect location!

The kitchen is equipped with everything you’d need. There's ample storage for clothes. The owners provide guides to all the area attractions as well as great local recommendations of their own. My husband and I were both working during the day and the internet was reliable and we found the house (and garden) great for a quiet and productive workplace. We highly recommend an extended stay here ... you won’t want to leave!

Historic Adobe

The location of this historic adobe home is excellent--close enough to walk to the Plaza as well as Railyard, bookstores, restaurants, & galleries. It is authentic with lots of character and lovely furnishings and art, decorated by the helpful and charming hosts. It is a fabulous indoor/outdoor home, with a placita with fountain and lovely gardens in the back. We stayed three weeks and recommend it highly.
