About Dan Sullivan

We have lived here full time and part time for many years. Love all four seasons. The property was the original homestead in Curtis Hollow in around 1780. We were able to preserve the orginal post and beam homestead {now the fireplace/dining room} Lots of history and good feelings abound. We love the rural setting with hikes to the waterfall, spring, top of Baldy yet minutes {we are about halfway between Woodstock and Killington} to great restaurants, shopping skiing, golf etc.

Dan Sullivan purchased this farmhouse in 1976

Why Dan Sullivan chose Woodstock

Great history and spiritual sense of the property, open fields ancient grave site, spiritual garden, very quiet, with babbling brook and waterfall and miles of hiking trails. The house is very comfortable but made for a family to live in.There are lots of nooks and crannies for some quiet time but also great, warm open spaces to enjoys a group or family. We try to accommodate your needs and do wish that your stay be memorable.

What makes this farmhouse unique

The land is beautiful and we have worked hard to fill the lawns with gardens and quiet sitting areas. The home is owner designed with many separate levels for privacy and many large round windows for lots of light. The spiritual garden with stone labyrinth is special for us. And yes, we built the labyrinth ourselves.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Your farm has been a glorious place to watch fall come to Vermont. WE have hiked in your woods played a fair amount of tennis and watched lots of wildlife. We have had fun with your games [bocci, horseshoes, pool, darts, etc]. We are pleased that others could experience the farm too! Several of my brothers and sister in laws and friends have visited and everyone has been impressed with the beauty of your gardens, land and home. We are so pleased that others could share our wonderful experience!

fantastic VT country estate

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time and highly recommend this house! Sprawling property with beautiful landscape, features and amenities. The house accommodated a large extended family for 10 days over Christmas and New Years and was great for little kids, hosting dinners, etc. Owner was very responsive to questions and requests. Great combination of proximity to Woodstock town and secluded country location.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the very kind review I throughly enjoyed your group and especially appreciate your positive attitude given that your stay included the longest and coldest weather in 70 years. Please consider a return in the spring or fall there is lots to do on the farm and it will be a lot warmer. Best Dan

Owner's Response: thank you for your review---I feel I should address one point you made that may leave a misimpression about my house--- the house was built 20 years ago which by Vermont standards does not constitute a " a large old home". I incorporated some old beams into the structure of the first floor which may have lead to the confusion.

What a perfect place for our extended family gathering!

  • 5 of 5

Dan's home is beautiful and spacious with ample spaces for our extended family to gather, eat together, and celebrate our mom's 90th birthday. Sitting on the back deck overlooking the beautiful grounds was delightful, our mini-hike up and then down to the waterfall was memorable, and our evening around the campfire was a ton of fun. Dan was super helpful and we felt instantly at home. This is a beautiful home with a warm and happy aura. We loved it!

Private location for visiting Woodstock and area

  • 5 of 5

Curtis Hollow Farm worked well as our home away from home for a recent hiking/touring trip.

Plenty of bedrooms and the grounds are lovely. Especially enjoyed the labyrinth, the hike to the waterfalls, and the ride on Dan's, the owner, Gator!

Beautiful house and property

  • 5 of 5

We've had the pleasure of staying in Dan's home in both the summer and winter and it's just beautiful! The kitchen is enormous and well stocked with all kinds of cooking equipment. Lots of counter space and two dishwashers make it a great space for preparing meals, and there are several indoor and outdoor dining areas. Multiple bedrooms offer views of the surrounding fields and woods and offer privacy for guests. Dan has always been a gracious and welcoming host. Asks him about this history of the house and property! If you're looking for a quiet and spacious place to get away, this is the rental for you! We will be back this summer.

Owner's Response: dear Liza think you for the very nice review. I look forward to the return of your group soon. there are many things to do at the farm--something in every season ----well April is a test of ingenuity--but the rest of the year there is something for just about everyone to do and enjoy even if it is just relaxing by the fire or out on the rear deck looking down on the fields and surrounding hills Best Dan

Fantastic meeting spot for our college reunion!

  • 5 of 5

7 couples stayed very comfortably in this house! We all kept commenting on how much we DIDN'T feel crammed being in the house. We cooked several meals, used both fireplace rooms, the fire pit, the game room, and a couple of people took a hike the waterfall. We had a couple of minor things happen while we were there and Dan was right next door and came over as soon as we called. Our group split up one day and half of us took a trip to downtown Woodstock and the Artisans Park in Windsor. The other half of the group went a little further away to the Ben and Jerry's factory tour. We skied/snowboarded/tubed on day at Okemo. It was a wonderful trip and many of us can't wait to return in the spring to do hiking!

Owner's Response: Dear Amy sounds like you all were very busy during your stay--there are many things to do both at the farm and in the surrounding area and your group certainly hit some of my favorites. Look forward to your return--after the snow melts there is lots to do outside--hiking,tennis,golf, biking and just to say you really were in Vermont you can play some horseshoes on the regulation horse shoe pits. thanks for such a kind review best dan
