Please note. This condo can be wheelchair accessible upon request. Please call Mr Jay prior to arrival to arrange.
My Condo is rented as. a 2 bedroom 2 bath unit but can be rented as a 1 bedroom 1bath. We simply lock off the back bedroom and bath and you enjoy full use of the rest of the condo, This gives you approximately 1300 square feet of living space. A one bedroom unit only gives you about 1000 square feet. For rates see notes in rate section.
My condo is a spacious and luxurious 2 bedroom/2 bath, 1500 square foot unit. It is one of the few condos that is on the water and on the first level so you avoid a lot of stairs. This is in contrast to other units which just have an ocean view. Read what a recent visitor from Sweden said. "Hi Jay, Everything is fantastic!! We have been out diving several times and doing some fishing as well. Your condo is marvelous, fully equipped with everything one could ask for. We very much enjoyed our stay."
Read on to learn more about my condo or better yet, watch my video to see the many reasons you will want to reserve A3.
No matter what you do at the Grand Caribe: Relaxing at one of seven swimming pools while enjoying a drink at the swim-up bar, taking an all day adventure to the most spectacular Barrier Reef snorkeling and scuba sites, in the Northern Hemisphere, cave tubing or visiting ancient Mayan ruins, you will relish the thought of returning to your condo to enjoy the comforts of your relaxing, perfectly appointed and air conditioned retreat.
The condo is complete with a gourmet kitchen fully equipped with everything you need to prepare a dinner of delicacies. The master bedroom suite has a king bed and views of the Caribbean. The master bath has a Jacuzzi tub and walk-in shower There are 3 flat screen TV's with satellite programming. One is in each bedroom and one is in the living room. Wireless internet access is available at no charge. Luxurious bed linens, pillows and coverlets grace each bedroom. The furniture and art work, created in Belize, reflect the traditions of the tropics. Canterra tile floors provide a cool and relaxing atmosphere along with mahogany cabinetry and ceiling fans.
The location surpasses all others. It is a short golf cart ride to the charming fishing village of San Pedro and walking distance to many excellent restaurants and bars.
To give you a more complete description I have included a Welcome message that guests find in my condo to guide them on their way to a 'Luxurious Adventure'.
Welcome to Mr Jay’s Casa de Belize
Upon arrival you will be greeted at the front desk by friendly staff that will be taking care of all your needs during your stay at the Grand Caribe Belize Resort. While you are there, make a reservation for the onsite restaurant “Rain” for early cocktails and dinner for that night. You will find excellent food and great ambiance at this roof top, 4th floor restaurant and terrace named Rain. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Hugo master chef, originally from Spain and his wife Victoria, own and manage the restaurant with spectacular views of the Caribbean. This year they have opened a new and very romantic, Italian inspired restaurant on the third level below Rain named Uvo, specializing in homemade pasta, seafood and daily gourmet fare.
In the morning have breakfast at Ak-Bol, a yoga retreat. Make it there before 10 AM to get a good seat at the bar looking out to the sea. You will find this “Cheers” kind of place about 200 yards to the south (REMEMBER LEFT FOOT IN THE WATER, YOU ARE GOING SOUTH, RIGHT FOOT IN THE WATER YOU ARE GOING NORTH). Say hi to Melio, the owner, originally from Chicago and his wife Kirsten who I'm told is one of the best yoga instructors in Belize. Favorite delights: start with a Belican beer and I suggest you have a couple of salbutes or puposas (chicken, beef or fish). This and a little Maria’s hot sauce and you will be ready for whatever the day has to offer. You also may want to try their Fry Jacks with a fresh tropical fruit plate, most delicious. Morning and afternoon Yoga classes are available for a small fee. One and a half hour full body massage in their upstairs grass hut is highly recommended. You can ask Melio when you are at Ak-Bol to make a reservation.
There are many excursions to enjoy. There is a detail description of each in the information booklet in your unit. Call the Grand Caribe concierge to book your tours including the Lamanai Jungle River Cruise and Mayan Ruins excursion. Want to relax? Spend some time at the swim-up pool bar and café serving tropical drinks and local fare. If you go fishing you can bring back your catch and have the pool cafe prepare it or take it to Akbol to make a feast for you.
Water taxis are readily available for transportation North and South. Have the front desk notify the dock attendant to hail one down. Golf carts are available for rent through Grand Caribe. Dial 0 for the front desk to make a reservation. They have carts available at the resort. You can rent for the day or by the hour if you need a quick trip to town. Carts are a good way to explore the fishing village of San Pedro. It is a charming Caribbean town with good shopping, grocery stores and plenty of bars and restaurants. There is a $5 US round trip toll to cross the bridge into San Pedro. Stop by Fido’s for a drink and I’m told it’s a great place in the evening to see and be seen in town. Also the Blue Water Grill near the airport is on the beach and serves very good local fare. You might want to explore the beautiful resort of Victoria House just a little south of San Pedro.
Other Restaurants to Try:
Palapas, just north of San Pedro at the hardware store circle is a thatched roof bar and restaurant. Good place to hang out and feel the sway of the sea while enjoying good food and drinks. Ask the bartender for markers to add your name to the rungs of the railings. Tell them Mr. Jay sent you and ask for a “Lou” burger”, a specialty created by Lou Gentine of Sargento Cheese Company of Plymouth, Wisconsin. We were all together when Lou concocted this most unusual burger and it has now made its way as a permanent item on the menu.
Ahi Restaurant is just a little north of the Grand Caribe. Take the road or beach path. Lovely outdoor restaurant on the water. Quaint and romantic.
A must do, Sunday Funday at Crazy Canuks, just south of the airport. Live local talent starts playing around 3PM great fun afternoon.
