WHAT TO EXPECT: This light-filled, lower-ground floor apartment with private gated entrance is part of a listed historic building that sits opposite the private garden of Eccleston Square. Everything needed for day-to-day living . . . cafes, pubs, restaurants, supermarkets, convenience stores, green markets, bakeries, health food shops, pharmacies, dry cleaners, and international newsstands . . . are all within a 2-10 minute walk.

PROPERTY DESCRIPTION: Greenhaven is newly refurbished by European architectural & design firms, air-conditioned/centrally heated and fully-furnished with a mix of contemporary and antique décor. By London standards it's very large (600 square feet) and includes living room/dining room area, galley kitchen, bedroom and bath. The apartment is designed with the idea of bringing the look and feel of the garden inside with a calm natural palette sparked by carefully placed bursts of color. Sixteen foot high ceilings and large windows in the main living/dining area contribute to its very open, light and airy feel.

LIVING/DINING AREA: The main living/dining area has a table with seating for four, a comfortable king-size sleeper sofa. The furniture is set in front of non-working fireplace and a built-in wall unit/library with a large selection of books on London, as well as English history and culture. Residential design and decor is my passion, and I strive to provide dwelling places that are more expressive, more beautiful than other vacation rentals. I live part-time in all these places. So each functions as a 'home' -- not just a rental property. The hallmark of each residence is its personal style, which reflects its unique character and location. For example, my London apartment, which opens to the beautiful private gardens of Eccleston, is designed with the idea of bringing the look and feel of the garden inside with a calm natural palette sparked by carefully placed bursts of color. My philosophy is that I would never rent a property that I would not stay in myself. Why Paula Harvan chose Pimlico

I've lived in London for a few years, and I wanted to find a location that combined all of its best aspects at my doorstep: proximity to major sites, transportation, shopping, dining, culture and entertainment, but with a traditional London feel. Eccleston Square is it -- with an added bonus: the private garden that's only accessible to residents and their guests.

From the outside of Greenhaven, the view is a scaled-down version of New York's Central Park. You see the upper branches of trees, swirls of clematis, heady explosions of climbing roses and, here and there, the opposite side of Eccleston Square, London SW1 -- one of London's most posh addresses. When you get into the garden, you wouldn't know you’re in the heart of a world-renowned international city. When you smell the flowers and hear the birds sing, London seems to disappear -- yet all of its wonderful sights, sounds, tastes and experiences are right outside the garden gates.

Eccleston Square came about when town planner Thomas Cubitt, who developed it in 1845, had the idea of gathering everyone's back gardens together. Around the periphery, a shady walk takes you though arches of wisteria and clematis. For garden buffs, there are several unique specimen plants, including a handkerchief tree from China -- and art buffs will enjoy the irises, some of which came from Monet's garden in Giverny, France. The Garden Square has won many awards not only for its botanical beauty, but also for its well-integrated features, such as several brick patios, glass conservatory, tennis court, and play and BBQ areas.

Well equipped. Great location.

Lovely place with a ton of amenities in a fantastic location. Great space for our family (2 adults and a 6 year old). Comfortable space with nice goodies (coffee, liquor, etc.). Paula was great with pre-stay communication, providing tips on transfers and dining. Location was perfect. Quiet residential area in close proximity to several restaurants and walkable to major sites including Buckingham and Hyde Park. Highly recommended.

Excellent Accommodations, Service and Location

We have used HomeAway several times and this rental was one of our favorites. The apartment is located in a convenient location, with Victoria Station, pubs, many restaurants and shopping all within a five minute walk. Parliament, Westminster Abbey and Big Ben area attractions are an easy 10-15 minute walk. All of London is easily accessible using the bus or tube system and trains from Victoria can get you out of town in a snap. The area is very safe for walking, even at night.

The apartment is outfitted with everything needed for a comfortable stay. It is very light and airy for a ground floor unit, with high ceilings and a very nice decor. We loved the Nespresso coffee supplies provided by the owner. We didn't cook, but everything you need is there in the modern kitchen. The furniture is very comfortable and the bed was amazing - we both slept very well. And the bathroom was very large, clean and modern. The shower had plenty of hot water and good water pressure. Everything was absolutely spotless on arrival.

The owner could not have been more helpful, especially after I made a mistake with the arrival date. She fixed everything for us to make sure we had an easy transport to the apartment where the contact person was waiting to show us how to use everything in the apartment. They really went out of their way to make the arrival as smooth as possible. Thank you, Paula, for sharing your apartment with us and for all you help in making this a stress-free, comfortable and wonderful vacation. It could not have been nicer and we would love to come back.

Traveler tips: In Pimlico, Kazan Cafe serves a good breakfast in a friendly atmosphere, Valerie Patisserie has tasty sweets and SeaFresh had the best fish and chips and the waitstaff was so very welcoming and nice. The Albert Pub (on the way to Parliament on Victoria Street) had a great meat pie in a historic, friendly setting. We loved it there.

We liked the bus system more than the tube. Buses ran on time and you see the city better using the buses. The #24 bus in Pimlico will take you straight to Camden Market which is a huge, quirky outdoor market along the Camden Locks. The #52 bus at Victoria will take you to the Royal Albert Hall, Hyde Park, Kensington and Harrod's.

Amazing experience!

I'm so glad I booked this property. Paula provided the best accomodations and service while I stayed at her rental.

A great location close to many sights, restaurants, and the Victoria station, but very quiet and safe.It had everything I needed plus more, and I felt very comfortable - like a home away from home.

I met the cleaning lady on my first day and she was so lovely and helpful - letting me drop my luggage off early, providing me a tube map and good places to go.

There's a reason Paula has 100 five star reviews. I will definitely stay here again next time I'm in London. :)

Fantastic location and gardens

Our family of 3 stayed in this lovely apartment in August for 6 nights. We loved the location, walking distance to many sights, restaurants and transit. The highlight of the apartment for us was the garden across the street, which only residents of the homes have access too. We spent many evenings here enjoying an aperitif and playing catch. Thanks to Paula for her quick response as our flight was delayed on arrival.

Great location next to Victoria station

Helpful, responsive and accommodating host. Some nice extra touches include bathrobes, slippers, coffee, tea, whiskey. You have to be careful with the hot water in the shower and the entry spiral staircase. The bed is probably a little small if you are a large person but it was fine for us and quite comfortable...overall a very good experience for us.

Beautiful Property in a GREAT Location

My wife and I got a rare parents only vacation and were looking for a great place to stay in London that could accomplish the nearly impossible task of being beautiful, conveniently located and not too expensive. Greenhaven was perfect. It was well appointed, cozy yet fancy and located in a VERY cool neighborhood that was within easy walking distance of many major destinations (Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben , Churchill War Rooms, Hyde Park etc) not to mention great pubs and restaurants. We can't wait to go back.
