About The Owners
This property is owned by an Italian designer and his wife, an American born anthropologist who spend their time between France and Italy. They give seminars in design and intercultural training at the mill throughout the year for people from all over the world. Both are writers, lecturers and public speakers - they often customize programs for their guests who want an educational holiday. Their two children were raised in the house, as well as a happy array of cats and dogs.
The Owners purchased this Mill in 1998
Why The Owners chose Le Rouret
It was a coup de coeur! Love at first sight. This is not an ordinary home, but an extraordinary adventure that we have had the pleasure to share with people from all over the world. The house has magic to it, it touches the essence of anyone who visits. It was built on a sacred spring, and is as healing and comforting today as when it was built, 75 years after Columbus discovered America. We don't own it, it owns us. It is a very special place that we feel privileged to share with others who love history, culture, travel, good food & wine.
What makes this Mill unique
Everything about this property is unique due to the age, setting and integrity of its architecture. The benefits are that, because the owners actually live at the mill on and off throughout the year, it feels like home. They also share their professional knowledge and expertise with their guests about French culture, design, art, history, literature, philosophy, cooking, and living and working abroad (upon request, of course). Or, they just hand over the keys to your home in France. They also provide spa & well-being treatments upon request.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Charming home and wonderful hostess
The Olive Mill is terrific--charming, cozy, beautiful, with great character. We loved it!
Where else can you find a splendid stone kitchen, a dining room with pizza oven and inside grill, a living room with a stone fireplace and a 16th century grinding stone and mill wheel? This home has it all, combined with rustic charm, artistic touches from around the world, and entertaining and hospitable hosts. We gathered for New Year's, eight members of the extended family, and all were stunned by the character, history, and comfort of the house. We were there in mid-winter, but between the wood-burning fireplaces, space heaters, and forced-air heating systems, the house was remarkably cozy. The landscaping is lovely--we could only imagine what it must be like in spring and summer when you can sit by the stream running through the property or swim in the pool built above an ancient Roman bath. There was plenty of room for all of us, lovely quilts on the beds, wonderful stonework and lots of interesting books and artifacts to admire. We couldn't have asked for more. Many thanks to Cynthia and Armando. We hope to be back.
Wonderful Family Holiday
We stayed at this property for one week with three generations of one family. The children loved the outdoor space and the swimming pool and the adults loved the gorgeous house and interesting historical features of the property. The hosts were so welcoming and generous with their time, sharing their knowledge of the area and playing boules with the children - a special memory for them! They also cooked us a most beautiful meal the night we arrived as we were arriving too late to prepare a meal ourselves. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
Thank you for your kind review. It was a pleasure having your family. We have enjoyed each and every one of our guests very much. Your holidays are very important to us, and we hope to make it as enjoyable and comfortable as possible for you. We love it here at the mill, and seeing others appreciate it so much is very rewarding to us. Happy summer!
A wonderful stay in a beautiful home!
We stayed at Cynthia and Armando's beautiful olive mill this summer, Aug 16, for 2 weeks with a large group of family and then friends, with all ages from 9 years, teenagers, young people and parents. It was the most wonderfully relaxing break and the mill is a truly unique property, which accommodates a large mixed group perfectly. From the gorgeous swimming pool, the wonderful trees and flowers to the stunning ancient mill, the whole experience made us feel as if we had completely escaped and entered a little french paradise. Our 9 yr old niece loved playing in the natural stream with our 19 year old daughter and the swimming pool is lovely and cool.
We enjoyed walking to the local restaurants in the village, where we had several meals and saw the local puppet show in the square. We also drove to the beach clubs in Antibes, which takes around 30 minutes. There is an excellent boulangerie in the local village, which is a 20 minute picturesque walk but a very quick 5 min drive. There are several very good supermarkets just a short drive away, with a fantastic selection of very good rose!
Cynthia and Armando were staying just on the edge of the property in their studio so on hand if needed, but you feel as if you have the whole place to yourself and wouldn't know they were there. They are extremely welcoming hosts and kindly invited us over for an early evening drink, with Armando teaching us to play Boules! They joined us for dinner one evening and we really enjoyed hearing about their interesting lives and careers, which are fascinating - Armando's design work is incredible!
The local villages and towns are extremely pretty and typically french and we enjoyed visiting the market on Friday morning in nearby Valbonne as well as meals in the restaurants in the squares and wandering around the little streets which are like being in a french film.
The bedrooms in the mill are large and very comfortable and the stone walls keep the house lovely and cool. The cellar kitchen is extremely well equipped with everything a keen cook could need and the little cottage in the garden is the perfect annex for teenagers or a family who need some space. All in all, it was the perfect french base for a large group and we had a wonderful holiday. We have stayed in and around Nice, Antibes and this area many times and this was definitely one of our most memorable stays!

It was a pleasure. You were wonderful guests, thank you for the lovely memories you left with us. Cynthia & Armando
Trip of a lifetime...
We are a family of five from Canada and cannot say enough good things about both our hosts and their home. We stayed with another family of four and there was plenty of room for everyone.
Prior to arrival, the hosts went out of their way to brief us on everything we could possibly want to know about their home and the Le Rouret area. You could not ask for greater hospitality.
The Mill is an amazing place - it has history, comfort and luxury. It seemed like there was always a new place to relax around the property (just beware of the wild boars :) ). The location also could not be better: groceries, restaurants and sight seeing are very close. Day trips can take you to plenty of new adventures.
Thank you Cynthia and Armando for a true trip of a lifetime.

Extraordinary property with great ambience.
We had a truly wonderful time. The owners did everything to make us feel welcome and relaxed. Cynthia and Armando are such friendly and kind hosts. They gave us loads of tips for activities and locations that we would never had found on our own. And the house was a dream! A one of a kind place where we spent our days just relaxing and playing with our children in the garden. We feel we have gained friends for life with this vacation that exceeded all our expectations. Thank you so much, Cynthia and Armando!
This property is an oasis of tranquility, in the heart of both Cote-d'Azur with its lively beaches and the historic villages and museums of Provence. It is no wonder the artists chose this area to live and work. Your home will be a beautifully furnished and comfortable 16th Century Olive Mill with its old stone walls, flowers, fruit and olive trees. A totally unique, quality experience. As rare as it is beautiful.
