About John and Marina Selby

We are a family of 5. Three 'kids' under the age of 32 that have all had their friends come to the house over the years. The owners have been coming to Cape Cod ever since they can remember.

John and Marina Selby purchased this house in 2004

Why John and Marina Selby chose Harwich Port

Proximity to beach. We were willing to sacrifice on square footage to be able to be at the beach in just a 5-10 minute walk. Harwich Port has so much to offer. One of the best towns on the cape. Not over run with cheesy tourist traps...good classic Cape Cod.

What makes this house unique

Immense work has been put into every piece of furniture and every item in that house. The house is not just a rental, it is our home so we like to think that the quality of house is A+.

Perfect vacation spot!

  • 5 of 5

This vacation home couldn't have been more ideal for our family. It was spotless, lovely and comfortable, and we loved going out on our daily adventures to return home and take a short walk to the beautiful beach (and then come back for an outdoor shower - the best after time at the beach!). It's a charming vacation cottage, cared for with love by the owners and decorated with the perfect Cape flair. We loved how much thought was put into the space for optimal comfort for all ages. There's a great selection of books, games and DVDs and one day we enjoyed one of the DVDs for a few hours of family down time. The back yard is wonderful, an excellent amount of space for relaxing or playing, and we used the BBQ to grill a couple of times when we weren't eating out at the many delicious restaurants nearby. This part of the Cape is well-suited for exploring all different areas, or for staying close and taking advantage of the many fun and relaxing options right nearby. We visited friends and family in Falmouth and Truro, both easy drives from the house. We went on a great bike ride on the Cape Cod Rail Trail, which goes through Harwich. And for our 5 year old son, he loved how close the bumper boats, go-carts and trampolines were. On Wednesday night we visited the Harwichport Stroll, visiting the cute village shops and seeing local bands perform. When we were getting ready to leave, our son asked if we could live there always, which made the vacation even more perfect. The owners were wonderful to deal with, and were helpful, friendly and kind. I'd highly recommend this vacation home for a magical Cape stay.

Three Great Unforgettable Weeks

  • 5 of 5

Hello John,

We have just returned home from our vacation - we traveled through Berkshires, Amherst and Northampton - just wanted to see a different part of Massachusetts.

Thank you for letting us use your cottage - we spent three great unforgettable weeks there. It's a lovely, charming place, with great decor, quintessentially "Cape"; among things that we loved most were the library (great selection of books!) and the antique lamps. It's very well equipped and comfortable - we truly felt at home there. We had great beach weather almost every day; when it got busier and more crowded on weekends, we made short sightseeing trips to Boston and Providence (we fell in love with Providence). The location is so convenient - close to everything. I hope we will be able to return in the future.

Thank you for your hospitality and your help with all the details. I hope everything was in order when we left.

Wonderful Property

  • 5 of 5

This property truly was a hidden gem, a very quiet street. The pictures display the rooms exactly, everything was sparkling clean and neat, very homey. We were pleasantly surprised that the beach was so close to the cottage and was so clean and beautiful. The location couldn't have been more convenient to area shops, grocery store, restaurants and golf courses. We especially enjoyed driving a short distance to Whitehouse Field and watch the CapeCod Baseball game and also pick up the bike trail and ride into Chatham. You will not be disappointed!!!!

Quintessential Cape Cod Cottage!

  • 5 of 5

We have rented many vacation homes over the years, on and off the cape but the cottage on 6 Victory Drive was by far our favorite. The location and the charm of this cottage provide everything that a Cape Cod vacation experience should be. The private beach was pristine and an enjoyable short walk from the house, downtown Harwich Port has a little bit of everything. We were lucky enough to be there during the HP music stroll. Numerous bands were performing in the streets downtown, it was a gorgeous night and lots of fun. A day trip to the Truro Vineyard and another to the Beachcomber on Cahoon Hollow beach must be on everyone's to do list.

The cottage had the feel of a New England bed & breakfast, filled with antiques and tasteful decor and neat as a pin. We loved every minute of our stay!

Our wonderful vacation experience in Harwich Port, Ma

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to Cape Cod and this cottage and location exceeded our expectations. As advertised it is within walking distance to a pristine beach. The temperature of the water was amazingly warm for so early in the season. My family also enjoyed the hour long fireworks display at this same beach along with many families from the area. The owners posted their favorite restaurants ect. which took all the guess work out of where to eat. We took a seal cruise to Monomoy which was great fun as the seals were really hamming it up! We also hit Marians Pie Shop for the BEST lobster rolls ever!! The musical stole in Harwich Port Village was so much fun, with steel band and all. Everything was so convient and within walking distance. Lastly, the cottage was immaculate, tastefully decorated with old cape vib. We would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a authentic Cape Cod experience!!

Great Harwich Port House

  • 5 of 5

Our family rented this house for one week and we were very happy. The house is very cozy, clean and inviting. The house is close to the beach but is more like a 10+ minute walk with kids and beach gear. Overall great rental.
