Tucked away on a 2.5 acre point and 600ft of waterfront, you’ll find this beautiful private river home. Located on Blount’s Creek, a protected body of water that attracts fishermen, kayakers, skiers, jet skis and tubers (and, occasionally, a school of porpoises who find their way into our little “oasis”), this home captivates the heart and soul and provides the perfect setting for quiet retreat and 're-connect' or just plain good family fun.

Just twenty minutes from Historic Little Washington and less than an hour from Historic Bath, Oriental and New Bern, this lovely home, built in 2001, is just off the Pamlico River, with Washington and Bath a short boat ride away. The open floor plan combines living, dining, and kitchen areas into a large living space, which is flanked by outdoor decking with grill and picnic table, a covered porch and a spacious screened-in porch that opens into the living area and the master bedroom. Three bedrooms as well as a loft, with sitting and sleeping areas and a small outside balcony, provide guests with privacy and some solitude. The floor plan also includes a laundry area and three and a half baths. Every room boasts lovely river views. Ground level offers an exercise area with treadmill and stationary bike, outside shower and ample parking for boat and cars.

We are particularly proud of the home’s recycled heart pine floors, cypress timbers and juniper (white cedar) walls and vaulted ceiling in the living area. Together, they provide a unique warmth that is often missing in today’s coastal construction.

Conveniences include a fully functional modern kitchen, working stone fireplace, Dish Network Satellite System, DVD Player, High Speed Wireless Internet, and CD Stereo System with indoor and outdoor speakers.

All of the bedrooms are beautifully decorated, enjoy lovely views of the water and have ceiling fans. The Master includes a connecting bath, a queen bed, vaulted ceiling, a HDTV with satellite and sliding doors that open into the inviting screened-in porch. Additional bedrooms include: one with queen bed and one with queen bed plus twin trundle beds (with full bath in between); and a loft with double bed and queen futon (with adjoining full bath).

Relax as you enjoy your breakfast on the screened-in porch. Spend the afternoon reading on the sundeck or dock or napping in the Pawley’s Island hammock nestled at the water’s edge – a special retreat!

Your own private boat ramp and wet slip accommodate most boats up to 24’ and the surrounding waters yield many species; two (2) kayaks are included for touring. Flounder, Rock, Redfish and Trout are the most frequent dinner guests and Blue Crabs from the pier provide hours of fun and a delicious appetizer as well.

Google 'Visit Washington NC'. You'll find fun links to children's sailing camps, restaurants, dinner cruises, fishing guides, tackle stores, summer theater, museums, nature preserves, Historic Bath, state parks, antiquing, shopping and more...

Growing up in eastern NC and being an avid fisherman, water skier and family focused, this has been a dream location for us to watch our children grow up and enjoy special family times and celebrations since 1980. In 2001, we built a new home and continue to savor each moment -- now in a new setting.

Graduation Celebration

  • 5 of 5

Wow what a nice surprise! We arrived late after traveling in the rain to find a well-lit perfectly prepared home waiting for us. Even in the dark and the rain we couldn't wait to look all around this beautiful property. We were not disappointed! Stepping inside we continued to be impressed. It felt like home! Each bedroom is comfortable and well supplied. The family room area is larger than it appears online. The best parts however are outdoors! Those views! The porch areas are great with both screened and open areas. Rocking chairs line the porch facing the water and the dock is great for getting a little closer to the water. There is plenty of space outside for corn hole, croquet or bocce. We had a great low country boil with shrimp, sausage, potatoes and corn along with hush puppies and slaw. We also enjoyed both raw and steamed oysters and blue crabs. A big thank you to Tony Tripp and Washington Crab and Seafood Shack for bringing this party to us. They were awesome And the food was a home run! The house was the perfect setting to celebrate our daughter's graduation from ECU with family and friends. We would love to visit again!

Now Hubby wants a house on the water just like Bill and Brenda's

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful weekend at the Bateman's, but way too short. P didn't leave the place until he had to tear himself away for work.

The weather was wonderful and we enjoyed lazy hours watching osprey soar, and fish jump. Three tried their hands at catching some with the rods and lines Bill had prepared for us. They had a lovely time but caught just a couple of logs and a tiddler who had to go back.

The house was so comfortable it seemed like we were staying at a friends', just that they weren't there.

Can't wait to go back and get the kayaks out next time!

Peaceful Perfection on the Water

  • 5 of 5

– Bill and Brenda’s house in Blounts Creek was the most fascinating location I have ever stayed. Nature surrounds you in an estuary setting, on a peninsula of secluded brackish water that is full of fish and crab. Every day we were visited by the bald eagles and osprey that would go fishing right in front of us. Herons, pelicans, king fisher, hawks and many more birds make their appearances almost daily. The biodiversity at this location is the most interesting in this region due to the unique positioning of this tributary to the Pamlico River. Somewhat protected from the harsh winds, we enjoyed wintering in this paradise.

The home that Bill and Brenda built is so welcoming and well put together that one intuitively finds everything right were you would think it should be. Cooking in the kitchen was the most fun I’ve had – over looking the water on three sides, bringing in fish from the dock and grilling out on the porch – times we will cherish forever. The large stone fireplace made for a cozy winter, firewood stocked, fireplace ready for a match to light – waiting for us when we arrived on a snowy January evening. The layout of their home has an open, light and airy charm, with lovely décor and very comfortable furnishings. There are super comfy beds/linens, plenty of space for friends and family to stay and bathrooms for all. We could not have asked for a more beautiful home and more accommodating hosts who go out of the way always to make you feel like family.

its what you want in a beautiful house

  • 5 of 5

Bill was extremely helpful. I used his new jacket for drum fishing and messed it up with fish juice he was very gracious when i told him. Beautiful place, Private well maintained property. House was very clean, great porches no mosquitoes or bugs when we were there. Internet works great which is a huge thing these days. ATT cell phones work best at the hammock believe it or not. would go back with our group again for sure. We left very satisfied. Beautiful great room. Better than the pictures. Thanks Bill for a great time.

Pure paradise!

  • 5 of 5

What an extraordinary property off the Pamlico River in beautiful Blounts Creek!! The generous hosts made us feel completely at home and 3 couples from 3 different countries were able to completely relax in glorious surroundings. The morning sunrises and astonishing evening sunsets were breathtaking - crystal blue skies and shimmering waters combined to make lasting memories for all of us. Kayaking, fishing, day trips and snoozing in the hammock were our favorite activities. The house on Red Bug Point is truly a jewel. A+ in all categories. Thanks to the owners for sharing their home with us.

The Perfect River Home

  • 5 of 5

This home, and the Blount's Creek/Washington area, were more perfect than I could have imagined for a relaxing yet active weekend getaway. The house is situated on its own little peninsula and is very peaceful. The fishing from the dock and a boat are incredible - even just fishing from the dock, we pulled out a striped bass every 5 or 10 casts and caught a dozen or so blue crabs in Bill's crab pots that are tied to the dock.

Inside, the house feels more like you are staying at a friend's home than a rental property. The house is decorated beautifully and the kitchen is fully stocked with all of the utensils and cooking supplies you could ever need. We loved the open floor plan and spent mornings and evenings with a cup of coffee or glass of wine on the porch.

The house's location is ideal. Being on Blount's creek, you are tucked away in a more calm area with less boat travel, which is great for fishing, water skiing, tubing, etc. However, you are right around the corner from the Pamlico River and just a 20 minute boat ride to Washington or Bath.

Bill is a great host and I can't want to go back to his wonderful home!
