Home Away from Home in Paris
We spent four weeks in this spacious and very comfortable apartment in the 11th arrondissement on the edge of the Marais. Located on an interesting street, it is close to bars, restaurants, supermarkets and a couple of excellent boulangeries and is in easy walking distance of the Bastille, Place des Vosges, Musée Picasso and other iconic locations. The St Sebastian-Froissart and Richard Lenoir Metro stations are also very close, giving ready access to locations further afield.
The apartment has a narrow balcony with a table and two chairs, a very pleasant place to sit and watch the activity on the Boulevard Beaumarchais or look at the Tour Eiffel in the distance across the very recognisable roof of the Pompidou Centre. At night we watched the tower going through its various lighting routines. Sometimes it sparkles!
Rachelle, our wonderful host, lives in the same building and made it very clear that we could call her any time should we require assistance. Generous too, we appreciated the typically French selection of wine, bread and cheese that welcomed us.
Thank you, Rachelle, for caring so much about our welfare and also for sharing your story. You really are a miracle!
Dearest Margaret and Ian

Wonderful discovery in the Marais
We are just back from New Year's in Paris, a completely wonderful trip anchored by our discovery of this marvelous residence in the Marais. Never having stayed in this part of Paris, we were somewhat at a loss to decide on an address to choose; but reviews matter, and we read them with care. Descriptions of Rachel's apartment consistently reflected the pleasure of her guests, their comfort with the pleasing interior spaces and view (including the Eiffel Tower!), and her responsiveness to their needs whether as newcomers or as seasoned visitors to Paris. We were so deeply pleased by our own experience.
To begin with, Rachel connected us with a pick-up service to and from the airport. M. Roland and his clean, ample taxi held four grown-ups and big suitcases laden with Christmas presents. He was a most genteel introduction to our holiday, and at it's conclusion discovered a bag left behind in his car, parked, and came after us searching the lines at Charles de Gaul until he found us.
Rachel met us at her residence gate and showed us in. Security is good there, but also very manageable. There are grocery stores near-by, a convenient metro, and Marais shopping! Rachel herself is a treasure -- warm and empathetic, concerned that you will have a fine visit and, to that end, will offer as much direction as you need. She lives in the building and is attentive, but never intrusive. A platter of pastries and croissants awaited us on the dining room table beside a bottle of champagne that we opened New Year's Eve.
The apartment's layout is attractive and very livable with kitchen, dining room and living room in pleasant flow. Everything looks nice. Everything works. Accoutrements for cooking and serving are generous for stay-at-home meals. There is a balcony accessed from the dining room and set across the living room's large picture window facing the Eiffel Tower. And yes, we sat out a few times in the January air to watch the Tower shimmer. The view is charming and fully half the Tower is visible. Private spaces are also well laid out with two full bathrooms (one in master bedroom) and a separate toilet and sink for guests. Very satisfactory. And the beds-- extremely comfortable and welcome at day's end!
Rachel's apartment was a wonderful find. We felt so at home. Our Paris visit was just 10 days, and we are already talking about returning, staying longer. Merci, Rachel! Fantastique!

Lovely Apartment, Lovely Hostess
We (family of 4) stayed for 11 days and were very happy there. The apartment was comfortable, convenient, and secure (you have to get through about 4 locked gates or doors between the sidewalk and the apartment). Rachelle is a treasure; she was very sweet, knowledgeable, helpful, and accessible. The apartment is high on the 6th floor and has a nice view of the upper half of the Eiffel Tower. The neighborhood is lively and walkable, and has plenty of restaurants, bakeries, and other shops. A supermarket is right down the street. The nearest subway stop is just a block away. You can hear typical city noise but nothing unusually annoying. My only suggestion for Rachelle is to stock a couple of portable fans in the apartment, as we had 90F weather the first few days and it was a little warm for sleeping. We will miss Paris and would not hesitate to stay here again.
Thank you John to have sent a review. It was a pleasure
to meet you and your family. Hope to see you again.
Perfect Paris Apartment
My 2 sisters, our cousin and myself lived in this spacious, comfortable apartment for a month this Spring. Rachelle, our landlady who lives in the building, greeted us with wine, cheese, croissants and more. She is a gracious hostess and getting to know her made our stay memorable. She is most helpful. We loved the location: near bus stops and metros, grocery stores, restaurants, the Bastille market, bakeries and shops. The apartment had everything we were looking for: elevators, 2 bathrooms, 4 beds, strong wifi, washer and dryer, kitchen, dining room and a comfortable living room. We loved the view from our balcony. Every night we watched the Eiffel Tower light up and twinkle. I would highly recommend this apartment. We were lucky to find our special Paris home.
Bonjour dear Joanne and Family
Many thanks to have written a review about your stay
in the apartment. It was a great pleasure to meet you.
Warms regards. Rachelle
I was part of the Jerry and Joe contingency for the whole month of September 2016. I am experiencing depression because I am not still living in Paris in this apartment on Rue Amelot. I miss the convenience of everything: cafes, markets, wonderful Parisians, grocery stores, buses, Metro, movie theater, Dallyoyou. I could just go on and on but this apartment has it all, inside the apartment and outside the apartment. Rachelle is the perfect proprietaire. There when you need her, great fun bumping into her in the elevator, but never intrusive. Hope to live here again someday.
DearJenny. Many thanks for your kind review. I hope
to receive you in a next future.
A Home Away From Home
I am somewhat ambivalent about writing this review because I'm afraid this rental will become too popular with other renters. First of all there were four adults for a month rental. We have rented apartments around the world and this property is one of the very best. The galley kitchen was fully equipped (no U.S. type oven), and we fixed many meals. The washer and dryer was a huge bonus since we are traveling for 3 months and made packing fewer clothes much easier on our journey. The outdoor space was incredible and was almost like sitting in a cafe. We have been to Paris a number of times prior to this visit so we were all about "just living in Paris for a month". The two bathrooms, dining area, 2 bedrooms and spacious rooms made the apartment very enjoyable for all. The view at night of the Eiffel Tower was incredible. Rachelle is the perfect host and was most responsive throughout the rental process and our stay in the wonderful apartment. The location of the apartment could not have been better. Everything we needed was within a few blocks and the choice of transportation when not walking was extremely convenient. It was very difficult to leave Paris and the apartment did not feel like a rental, but a true home. We were not in the least disappointed with your apartment. We stayed the month of September 2016 and the first couple of weeks we encountered some warm weather. The electronic shades were extremely useful for late afternoon early evening sunshine.
Thank you so much Rachelle. We certainly plan to return and hopefully stay much longer. We have such fond memories for this trip and the best of all the Paris rentals we have encountered.
