Custom built in 2010, the Bowen Island Boutique Beach House is a luxurious 3 bedroom, contemporary designer house set on 1.5 acres of waterfront property with panoramic views of the Salish Sea and Vancouver Island's snow-capped mountains.
The Bowen Island Boutique Beach House is modernism at its best. Designed by renowned Canadian architecture firm, superkül inc, and internationally recognized landscape architect, Janet Rosenberg, it is contemporary and minimalist, a house of glass where outdoor splendor and indoor simplicity combine. It is ideal for those looking to connect with nature without forfeiting everyday comforts. In winter, while overlooking the blue waters, snuggle up in the bedroom or relax in the living room by an ultra-modern, two-sided wood burning fireplace. In summer, soak up the rays at our private beach, secluded from neighboring views. The house has heated stone floors, 14-foot ceilings, and is fully equipped with surround sound audio, 3D television, cable, DVD, Internet and Wi-Fi as well as top of the line appliances. The home sleeps six people comfortably in three queen-size beds. European rain shower heads in the 2 bathrooms and an outdoor hot tub complete the experience.
Nine-foot high lift-and-slide wood doors open the interior to a deck perched high in the Douglas Fir canopy. Floor-to-ceiling windows allow guests to engage with the magnificent physical setting. You'll love falling asleep to the sound of ocean waves. A star-filled horizon is revealed through spectacular glass walls in every room.
If you desire a truly decadent vacation, try our excellent butler services! Book a butler for cooking, shopping, escorted tours or even a relaxing massage.
Bowen Island is a 20-minute, stress-free ferry ride from West Vancouver, via the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal. Ferries run every hour. Bowen Island is also serviced by water taxis from Horseshoe Bay or Granville Island in downtown Vancouver.
If you prefer to arrive on Bowen Island by your own boat, you can moor right in front of the house on our private mooring ball in a protected anchorage.
Bowen Island is a small community with everything you'll need during your stay including groceries, spas, gym, hairdressers, doctors, pharmacies, and building supply stores.
The Bowen Island Boutique Beach House is also fully wheelchair accessible.
Bowen Island abounds with nature trails, rolling hills, and spectacular scenery. If you seek adventure, a chance to experience nature's beauty, you've come to the right place.
Kayaking, board paddling, swimming, snorkeling, hiking, trail rides or mountain biking are just some of the things to keep you occupied. For those who prefer a slower pace, there is whale watching, bald eagle viewing, sailing, fishing, crabbing, oyster harvesting, golfing at the island's 9-hole course, or the simple pleasure of lounging and reading a good book. Oceanfront walking trails at Cape Roger Curtis are only minutes away. World class alpine skiing is 60 minutes away in Whistler via the Sea to Ski highway.
Bowen Island is also a hub for culture and art. Join in the year-round celebrations or various festivals hosted by the Island's residents. Markets, craft fairs, galleries, and several unique shops and restaurants that you won't find anywhere else are not to be missed.

About Janet Rosenberg, Owner
The realization of Bowen Island Boutique Beach House has been a labour of love. Its owners, internationally renowned landscape architect Janet Rosenberg and her partner Dr. Abe Chaiton, dedicated themselves to creating one of the most unique homes on the island, with no detail overlooked and every stunning view captured. Living on Bowen Island was Abe’s and Janet’s long time aspiration. In 1992, Abe fell in love with British Columbia having spent extended time in the province serving as a locum for resident doctors. Together, sailing up and down the coast to Desolation Sound, Abe and Janet were mesmerized by the west coast landscape and enlightened by the people they met on their adventures. Yet Bowen Island stood apart in their fond memories as an unspoiled Canadian gem where they could appreciate life’s simple treasures. And so, each year for ten years, they moored their sailboat, Luba, in Snug Cove, claiming temporary residence on the island, but constantly scouting for just the right spot where they could one day build their dream home. In 2009, they finally found such a place, a rare property on the waterfront with its own private beach and secluded setting, perfectly embodying the spirit of Bowen Island that they fell in love with. Drawing on Janet’s expertise, they embarked on a two-year design-and-build project, putting together a team of designers who would help them create a home like no other. This home, now completed and sitting proudly perched above the Salish Sea, is a simple architectural glass box that celebrates Janet’s and Abe’s eclectic taste, modern sensibility, and respect for art. From local furniture manufacturers, east coast folk artists, and Inuit print makers to contemporary sculptors and photographers, there’s a touch of Canadian diversity in every room.

Why Janet Rosenberg, Owner chose Bowen Island
We fell in love with the west coast, the people, and their quality of life. The constant change of sound, scenery, and light on this property are captivating.
What makes this House unique
You can do so much and so little and be completely satisfied. The Island offers many activities but it's the still moments that are most memorable, when we are just looking out at the water and the green around us. We enjoy going to visit the quaint restaurants, craft shops, and markets in the town where everything tastes and smells better. We also enjoy kayaking and sailing, while having easy access to go to the city for the day. Beach House Property Manager - Chanelle Walker

Small piece of paradise
Amazing property! The view of the house is enough to get relax instantaneously. House has everything you need! My kids love this place and explore the beach! Definitely a great property that we would return many times!
Beautiful! First class in every respect!
We stayed with our family for 10 days in this little slice of heaven. The sunsets every night were magical and every aspect of the property is top notch. We will definitely be back!
Bowen Island paradise...
My family and I just returned from Vancouver and five days on Bowen Island. The house is stunning and as a VRBO veteran I can tell you that the pictures don't do it justice! The spot is absolutely pristine and waking up to those views every morning will stay with us for a long time. The management team (kudos to Mary and Chanelle) was very responsive. Thank you Janet for letting us experience such a special place! We will be back!
Beautiful, luxurious house in a stunning setting
We had a delightful short break away from it all in this beautiful house. The views from the deck are stunning and we spent most of our time outside watching the wildlife (seals, herons, oystercatchers, and a deer grazing below) or simply relaxing in the sunshine. Inside the house is equipped to the very highest standards and there is everything you could possible need, including excellent showers and very comfortable beds. Our booking was dealt with highly efficiently and the owners and their team communicated on a regular basis to ensure all was well. What a treat to watch the moon rise over the ocean from your bed, followed by sunrise in the morning. Thanks so much for sharing your lovely home.
The house was impeccably clean, the most stunning views and perfectly secluded location!
The house is stunning and the scenery couldn't be more beautiful! The architecture and lush greenery is truly something to be seen. We were lucky enough to have a bald eagle soar by each night and one evening we saw three orcas swim by - The wildlife is truly unbelievable! Janet and Abe are the perfect hosts and make sure everything is immaculate and taken care of. The amenities offered were so useful and well thought of - from the nespresso machine to the sea kayaks, everything was such a treat. The hot tub with a glass of wine each night overlooking the ocean was a fantastic highlight! We will definitely return!!
A very special place!
A beautifull place on Bowen Island. A lot of privacy, beautifull garden and beah house. We enjoyed the sunset and seeing the wildlife in front of the sea and from the terrace. Playing of sealions and two eagles building their nest! One day it was wet and we enjoyed the interior of the house. With the fireplace (with enough wood) and a good book we loved our Bowen Island days. We come back for sure on this special place of BC! With Dutch regards, Barend & Rebecca (from The Netherlands).
